Step count, calorie reading, is it right?

Whilst i know they are only estimates and nothing is exact, my step count in MFP for today says 13,444 steps is 240 calories. (It was similar yesterday and the day before), it just seems quite low for a 6ft 3 , Male, 180lbs. I would expect closer to 500.

Am i wrong? Its getting the step count from my Apple Watch. If i load the activity app up on the iPhone it says 553 calories. Almost double. Really confused.

Is this a calorie adjustment? If so, it isn't tracking your straight calorie burn -- it's telling you how many calories you burned *above* the estimate for your activity level. Some of the steps you took today are already part of your base estimated calorie burn -- only the ones over that get you extra calories.

How would i know if its calorie adjustment? It just shows it on the diary as Exercise - Steps . My activity level is set to not very active, and i have not entered any activity today manually.

The steps are terribly low since the MFP 7.5 update on November 11. It is a bug that MFP told me in an email may take several weeks to fix due to holidays. You can read more at https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/post/quote/10478352/Comment_38219141

Not very active isn't a setting on MFP so where is that showing

Do you mean lightly active? If so about 5-7000 steps are accounted for already

It also depends on intensity of steps you're taking

I would get on average 400 calories over sedentary for around 10K steps but I do things like walk in 2.5 mile 6mph bursts to work sometimes

Actually, it is now. My sister set up her account and mentioned it, and I went to look. It replaces Sedentary. I laughed and asked her if it was offensive to be deemed sedentary nowadays.

Interesting. What version (iOS, Android) used that wording for activity level?

The web version still has the same activity levels it has used for many years.

It still says sedentary on the web version. I have an Android and that comes up with 'not very active'

I'm using the Android app (using a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 lite), but I could have sworn I did it on the computer. Hang on a second and I'll check my tab again.

I checked again at http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/change_goals_guided and my account still shows the first choice as Sedentary. Hmm. MFP usually rolls out updates to mobile apps to blocks of accounts, but I have not seen roll outs to web changes by account. Usually web changes are global.
