I"m in as I am 43 and have 20 to lose :) I am 5ft 8inches and currently 178--the heaviest non-pregnant I have ever been. A dream would be 154 which is what I was at my whole adult life before pregnancies. I would even settle for 164 which would be within the healthy weight for my height. I am going to try to post here more…

I just wanted to thank everyone for their thoughts. It is amazing to me that total strangers will take the time to not only reply, but reply with long and thoughtful messages. I have read all this and taken it all to heart. I have books on request from the library and for a few days, am going to take a break from logging…

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I do know that this is an emotional thing. Totally and absolutely. As far as formal therapy....I guess I have to think about that. It isn't something that is done in my family and I can't really see myself doing it. I do see the value, I will just need to think on it. When I lost the weight I…

You are my body twin

Haven't read through all the comments but pop tarts aren't healthy. I packed fruit and veggies in my kids snack until 2nd grade when she noticed that everyone else is eating chips and candy. Why should she eat carrots when the kid next to her has Doritos. Super frustrating.

I was diagnosed when I was in my early twenties and am now 39. For me, I didn't change anything. Well, I switched out my Sea Salt for regular table salt due to the iodine. I have found if my levels are within range I can lose weight as well as anyone just with a regular diet in which I count calories. When I was diagnosed,…

I won't have the quote right but something like, 'don't get discouraged at how long it will take to reach your goal, the time will pass anyways". I love that quote because it is true! I have been trying to get down to my pre baby weight for 8 years! Not really trying, if you know what I mean. Now I am trying and though it…

Just wanted to say that you and I are in similar positions. I had 20 to lose, lost 10 and and am kind of hanging out here in no motivation land :). You can do it!

If you are running there are pretty accurate calorie predictors online, I use those and eat them all back because running makes me hungry!
-
OK, thanks everyone. Reading these has really helped. I will keep on pushing!

5'8--started at 170-173, currently 163. Goal 153. That is my goal because that is what I easily weighed in my pre kid days. It's all mental but that is my goal!

I donate and don't count it though I do eat some free cookies after and don't count those :)

Love this stuff! I live in MN and get it at a local chain called Kowalski's but for $6.99 per pint there is guilt involved!
-
Not sure if he can bring a cooler but holy *kitten*, Halo Top ice cream is my new obsession!

I have been tracking religiously for 2 months and have lost 6. Granted I am not far from my goal but I can't imagine losing 7lbs in 2 weeks and not being happy. You are doing great, just keep going.

Donuts. God I love donuts.

Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyways.

Ha! No, I have a typical gas powered push mower. Well, I have my activity level as sedentary and it is a full hour of pushing and walking so I am going to count it but not as high as MFP says, they give me about 350 but I am just going to take 200 of it.

Just wondering, what calorie ranges are you all in? I am 5'8 and currently 170, hoping to get in the low 150's

My TSH was 28 when diagnosed. I am on 150 of Levothyroxine. I was exhausted, constipated beyond belief and cold all the time. I am surprised that they would medicated you for that low of no TsH, doesn't that fall into range of error for a lab? I doubt you are gaining weight with a TSH that close to normal. Just my thoughts.

Thanks. Has the weight continued to come off even though you don't do cardio or are are none of your goals weight loss at this point.

Thanks for the tips. I will watch the videos and concentrate on what you all have said tomorrow at the gym. One thing, is the the "wrong thing to do" if I ask a trainer that is there to check my form? I know most people pay them for personal training so it is wrong to ask them to do this for free?

Thanks everyone. I had a good night sleep and feel ready to hit it again. Regarding calories, I met with a RD and had my metabolism tested....the thing where you wear the mask. Anyways, she suggested 1200 on non workout days and 1500 on days i do work out. I will consider what you have all said. I am not In a big hurry to…

I admit, it can be hard. My main goal is to get as much protein as I can. I get frustrated when people say that you shouldn't eat 1200. Everyone is not the same, I was set at 1500 for a while and was losing about .25lbs per week. Sorry, that isn't enough for me. At 1200 I lose 1-1.5lbs per week. Yeah, some days are hard…

I know this is an old thread but I really don't get the craziness. I am a 5'8 172lb female and MFP told me to lose 1.5lbs per week I need 1290 cals. Why do people get so worked up if that is what the dang website says to do? Again, I know this is old but I have seen like 5 of these post jus browsing the boards today.

We are twins. I am a 171lb, 5'8 inch apple :)

None. Did the whole thing and didn't lose. Got in good shape though.
