Type 1 diabetic? Over here...lot more to lose, been way out of control for a long time and it comes off slowly. How's your control? Sugar levels swinging about makes it hard...
-
Good luck, I'm the same except I seem to commit for about 2 weeks and then fall off the wagon and take an age to get back on. Let's go for it :)

I have created a group http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/21949-type-1-diabetics if anyone is interested

I've started the couch to 5k thing last week and i was 212 as I started. If you've a smart phone I highly recommend it, tells you when to jog and walk at different intervals and helps you to build up...it's my goal to be able to run 5k by the end of the year! Good luck x

Hi, Another type 1 here, diagnosed just before my 1st birthday many years ago. I've been on myfitnesspal a few years and never really done anything serious about it but after a really rough ride with my diabetes and piling on a stone (14 pounds) in about two weeks (because every low is followed by a sugar binge) I'm…

I'm finding drinking a lot of water is helping fill me up plus as I'm just starting on couch to 5k I'm finding my body likes to be hydrated too!
-
Oooooh yes please!
-
Sorry I'm late to the party, weighed in on Wednesday 7.4 pounds down, yay!
-
Hi, just joined, 210 last Wednesday, hoping for a good result this week!
-
I've just added this post to my browser favourites, you were the same starting weight and height as I find myself at and seeing the after results is very motivating! Congratulations, you look fantastic and feel great I bet :)

Drink loads of water...it's not the most exciting thing but it does fill you up and quite often when you think you're hungry it's really thirst or so someone told me! Good luck xx

Thanks for all the replies on this...I wandered off MFP for a couple of months but back now. I should have said I'm a Type 1, have been since before my first birthday. I'm tracking my sugar levels and food intake and finding my carb intake is naturally coming down and nice to see the scales slowly showing results!

I so nearly posted something similar on my facebook about a month ago and thought better of it as a few too many mutual friends. Stay strong, go no contact and deal with it. I've been through a lot the past month not helped by him turning up last week on my birthday in tears and then again on Friday night at my business…

I'm head brewer in a UK microbrewery, I make great beer and I drink great beer but in moderation :) I drink a glass of water to every beer and on a Friday or Saturday night I'd probably only have a couple. Occasionally I just accept there will be a total blow out at a beer festival or event and accept that it's one day off…

I've been on here for a while but I needed to make that .mental adjustment to wanting to live a better life and committed to that change in December 2012. MFP has made me more conscious of what I'm eating and the daily target of calories, carbs and fat to stay under while I try and go over on protein for a healthier diet.…

I've found it really helpful and changing my diet to be healthier is making me feel so much better. Lean protein will fill you up I've found and cutting back on carbs helps. I don't go hungry, allow myself the occasional treat and make sure I enjoy my food because there's no point trying to change and just resenting it.

Thanks for your comments folks. Other than time of day I don't think anything else was different...training in gym and jogging at about 8 to 8.4km and then walking at 5km. Perhaps just one of those days....try again tomorrow before my blind date!
-
Congratulations! It's a huge milestone to pass, I'm a teeny step ahead now trying to get under 190.
-
As a brewer of some fine IPAs and Double IPAs I'm so with you on this!!
-
Awesome ideas, how long until payday?!

Is a heart rate monitor a good investment? At the moment I'm just running when I'm told to with the couch to 5k thing and log the calories burned as whatever the treadmill tells me but I am working from a base of zero fitness. I'm loaning my New Rules of Lifting to a friend and going to start it once I graduate the 5k…

Love this thread, I've just added it to my goal list for about 6 months time!

Looking forward to the confidence boost and higher self esteem, my ex knocked it out of me and I don't like what I see in the mirror
-
Thanks for the tips, will find out what classes the gym has and fit it in with couch to 5k. Worried about fat going up and muscle down :(
-
I would love to drop 50 by July, think it might be a bit much but please friend me. 5'7, 191 and 36.
-
Congratulations. I like being able to take mfp with me on my phone and the bar code scanner can be a real time saver. I have type 1 diabetes, not the end of the world but if you can avoid type 2 that's a real goal to aim for.

I have the occasional bad meal but find I still log calories and try and make healthier choices. I want to keep losing weight but I want this to be sustainable and about a change in lifestyle. I want to be able to enjoy going out and not feel guilty about it. If I keep dropping a pound or so each week and keep it off then…

Hope I can add my story here by the end of this year

I'm a terrible carb craving comfort eater and I've managed to beat it by simply not buying the usual bad stuff I'd go for and instead making sure I've got loads of fruit and fresh chopped veggies to go. Having something to hand makes it easier plus filling up with some water or sugar free cordial takes away the taste of…
