  • If you're not used to any exercise at all, just get moving! It's perfectly fine to start off walking. Soon you'll want to (and need to for results) add some intensity. You can add body weight exercises to your routine (push-ups, lunges, squats) and add in intervals of faster paced walking or jogging. If you join a gym,…

  • You definitely did NOT waste your money. Insanity isn't easy for anyone when they're starting out, overweight or not. Do what you can, and aim to do a little more each time. It's tough, plain and simple. You've got this!!!
  • Some of the moves take some getting used to, but with limited time I love being able to go hard for 25 minutes and be done. Keep going, I actually prefer the Beta workouts and highly recommend purchasing the Gamma workouts. Using weights makes a huge difference. Keep at it!!

  • I agree with the above suggestions! And Les Mills Combat is cheap right now on Beachbody.
  • If you like Combat you might also like Turbo Fire. It's a fun twist on kickboxing, super high energy and a little more "dance-y" than Combat, which is more traditional style. It also includes some days of HIIT workouts, which are my favorite of the DVDs. You mentioned knee issues with Insanity- TF includes a low impact…
  • Oh I love T25 as well! Just found Insanity to be more intense. I'm definitely looking forward to Insanity Max 30 that was released today! 30 minute workouts are a wonderful thing!
  • Piyo is great and there are modifications if needed. It is definitely a challenging workout without the stress on joints from high impact moves. Just be careful ordering from Amazon- I bought a BB program on there years ago not realizing the difference and several features on the DVDs didn't work- I wasn't able to return…
  • 20 lbs is awesome, congratulations! And 20 lbs in 3 months sounds like a healthy, steady loss. I understand though wanting to amp up your workouts. I love Insanity. No equipment needed, and it definitely pushes you. The DVDs are amazing, and if a gym near you offers the live class I highly recommend that too!!
  • It's always good to take a rest day to give your body time to recuperate, especially if you're doing something intense. But I think it's ok to have an "active" rest day where you do something light. A Leslie Sansone walk with some good stretching after would be perfect!
  • Love it! Lots of fun, which makes the workout fly by. Definitely go back for more!
  • Congrats on your little one!! I am absolutely dying to get back to my workouts. I'm over 40 weeks pregnant, just waiting for the big arrival. So I'm not at your point yet, but soon! What type of workouts are you getting back into once you're cleared?
  • I agree with the above! 1-2 lbs per week is great. Slow and steady definitely sets you up for making more permanent changes in your daily life that help you maintain the loss. You're taking a great first step logging back into MFP! Everyone needs support and encouragement, and you know it's here! Best of luck!
  • It's definitely hard, especially when everyone around you is indulging (and the late night snacking can really get you!). Definitely like the take it to go suggestion, or maybe put a limit to one cookie, or one only on certain days. Regardless, it's most important to fit in some exercise! If you get into (or continue to…
  • Sending you a friend request! I'm about to have my first baby and I'm really intent on not giving up on my fitness as I adjust to motherhood. I know it will be a struggle, especially when I go back to work. I'm here to support you!

  • 21 days is the figure always put out there. But... you have to fully commit to the 21 days and push yourself. It gets easier after the first 2 weeks, starts to feel like a normal part of life not a forced activity!
  • Maybe your therapist is right about not putting too much pressure on yourself. Perhaps you can set small goals- instead of planning a big workout, promise yourself that you're going to go to the gym or the pool and work out for 15 or 20 minutes (or some other attainable time frame.) Usually on days I don't feel like…
  • Peace, Love and Low Carb is great. She has a Facebook page and website. So many great recipes. http://peaceloveandlowcarb.com/
  • As stated above, the whole premise of the program is that it takes 21 days to make something a habit. The 21 days of diligence needed to do the program start to finish are meant to instill new healthy habits in your lifestyle, including portion control and exercise. It may not be the program for you, but it is doing…
