One of the things that helped me to finally succeed at this weight loss thing was doing it in a way that worked best for me. I hate to cook, and anything that required a lot of preparation or time in the kitchen would have eventually caused me to give up. So yes, I ate a lot of prepackaged foods on my work days. I still…

That's really interesting. It's my pregesterone levels that are already super Highbthough so they would probably never prescribe anything for that. I have a benign tumor on my pituitary gland which causes very high pregestorone levels, thus no periods. That's why it was such a surprise to have them on the estrogen.

The only real side effect that I've had is the hot flashes, which suck lol. My doctor put me on estrogen and about a month later I had a period. I had not had one in several years due to non menapause issues. When I had a period, I was like "oh hell no lol". My doctor tried to talk me into just taking half a pill, but I…

He never mentioned it at all when I was fat, and that was for almost twenty years. He mentioned it a lot as I lost weight.

Been maintaining a 118 pound loss for 3 1/2 years. Vacation every year. (Cruises). Enjoyed myself, gained at least 5 pounds each time. Lost it in about a month. No regrets.

That's so funny. Until I read this, I always just thought it was only for "diet woo." The other kind never even occurred to me lol.

I lost 118 pounds and ate packaged meals (mostly Lean Cuisine) at work all the time. I still do and I've been maintaining for a few years now. I don't like to cook and really don't feel like it right before work. My husband cooks on my days off. :) When I decided to try to lose weight for what seemed the millionth time, I…

That we wont find out until about 3 days before we're due to fly out to Texas, whether my son passed his final PT test in basic training or not.

But see the thing is, most of us eat the same food we always have, including what some would define as junk. We just eat less of it. It's not necessarily true that people will gain weight if they stop counting calories. Some do yes, but it's not the food their eating but the amount of it. You mention that maybe if they…

I love pretty much all cereals, but unless I'm going to have 3 giant bowls it just not worth it. Lately I've really been craving granola cereal, but every time I read the calorie count I change my mind.

I never really had a moment like that. I mean I did feel disgust with my body for years, but there was never a "moment" where I decided I was actually going to do it. I just decided that I would try to lose weight once again, but to simplify it I was just going to count calories. My "moment" came about a month later when I…

I love hearing stories like yours! Congrats!

Wonderful job!!! Congrats!!

I can make a pint last for one whole sitting lol. I like them all, but peanut butter is the best.

Thanks! Although I just saw that someone flagged my comment as "woo" lol. Weird, but whatever.

It's weird, I've been maintaining for 3 1/2 years a 118 pound loss. I was the opposite. At first I felt so darn skinny. Now, sometimes I look in the mirror and I feel I look chubby. I think it's just because I've gotten used to looking how I look and my critical self is popping up again.
-
I do still use it every day. 1600 and something days. Accountability is key for me. Thank you!

I'm 5'4 and started at 268 pounds. I've been maintaining for over three years at 150 pounds. 1. Losing weight is as much a mental challenge as it is a physical. Don't let frustration, hunger or self guilt trips give you an excuse to give up. 2. Losing weight is just simple math. Eat less calories than you burn and you will…

You missed mine. Plenty of cheat days. Did not stay fat. It's called moderation over the long term.
-
118 pounds lost 3 years ago. I paid zero attention to my carbs.
-
I hope I am close enough. 5'4 and 1/2. Weighed 268, now weigh 150 for the past three years.
-
I like calling it a cheat day. ( I'm not losing weight, been maintaining for a few years) It makes it more enjoyable to me somehow lol.
-
It's actually just a simple math equation. Your body burns a certain amount of calories every day. The more active a person is the more calories they burn. To gain weight a person needs to take in (or eat) more calories than they burn. To lose weight a person needs to take in (or eat) less calories than they burn. In other…

I agree. I'm 55. When I was in my late teens and early twenties I was around 115-120. I would have been horrified to weigh 150. Then in my thirties, I gained every year until I was around 268 pounds for many years. Now I am perfectly content to be 5'4 and 150 pounds.

There are tons and tons of people on here who have successfully lost weight using MFP. Losing weight is CICO (calories in/calories out.) Eating non dairy or gluten free has nothing to do with it. Although exercise is good for your overall health, it is not necessary for weight loss. Use MFP to set your calories to lose a…

Sounds like my kind of food! Yum.

Can't post pics from work lol, so it's just my profile pic. 118 pounds lost 3 years ago. Took about a year and a half. You can do it!

118 pounds, and have maintained that loss for 3 years. Like everyone is saying, it happened because I ate at a caloric deficit. Whether you get that deficit from low carb, or however you choose, you lose weight from eating fewer calories.
