Good for you for getting your own horse - a partner in weight loss! I had a horse when I was younger and miss riding so much. I tried to keep it up after my boys were born but just could not spend the money. Unfortunately, in my area it is very expensive to own and ride horses and my financial priorities are not allowing…

Lunch has turned out to be the best time for me as well. I am able to eat at my desk while I work so I do not count that as my lunch break. I have 1 hour - so my main tip is do not waste time showering after you work out! Maximize your time exercising! I guess it depends where you work of course - but people are way less…

Love this! Just keep swimming - so simple - yet so profound!

That is terrific - well done!

Congrats to you for taking this very big step in taking care of your diabetes! Be proud of yourself! I too had been in denial forever, but am finally awake! Much of the above advice is spot on - I am trying to figure these things out for myself as well. Walking after meals really helped my sugars levels drop. I am avoiding…

This is a great, heartfelt, and truthful speech. I think a lot of people will relate to what you said - I know I did! Getting real about food is so important. Thanks!

Good for you! These are great NSVs! I am kind of not ready to rummage through the closet or try shopping for fear that I won't have much success and then I will get down on myself. I feel a bit fragile in a way. I am wondering how long it will take to have anyone notice my weight loss to date - I basically look the same at…

Add me! I am in the same boat! We can do this!

Great job - thanks for sharing!

I agree with everything mklassy123 said - but you have to find what works for you. I think over time my sensitivity to sweetness has gone up so that I do not like foods with added suger. I could not stomach a bottled salad dressing or many chinese dishes at this point. I just cook from scratch and take a little real sugar…

Nuts sadly - and salmon. Good healthy oils but wow!

Smokin'hot! OMG! You are an inspiration! I have 100+ to lose and it just seems so overwhelming. Thanks for the pics!

Hmmm...is it possible that your doctor meant the skin on your entire body? Anyway that sounds incredibly wrong and your doctor did you a disservice. Why would he/she focus on some future excess skin when the weight is the important thing to address and more harmful over time. It does not seems like you have a HUGE amount…

Thanks for sharing - I missed that but it makes it so clear.

Please add me - I am in the 10+ club myself and still trying to figure it out (again!) Good luck!

All great ideas - thanks!

I've been using the 5 minute steel cut oats made with water, bit of vanilla extract, lots of cinnamon, small diced apple with skin, SMALL handful of chopped walnuts, and a teaspoon (or two) of maple syrup. I decided the carbs in this breakfast were worth it becasue it really gets me through the morning. Sometimes I have a…

Awesome! This is my dream. My meds are piling up and piling up. I feel like it has been harder to lose weight on insulin and all these meds. Totally out of whack! Keep up good work!

We're here for you! I have what I would describe as a "negative" support system, but am just focusing on being my own support, not expecting anything from my family...I have allowed myself to let my circumstances sabotage me for too long. One day at a time, eh?! It's all on my shoulders and my responsibility. I have two…

I agree about the addictive quality of sugars...for me it was all refined carbs and years of overindulging. I've been lo-carb for 3 weeks and feel like a fog has been lifted. Lower sugar fruits, veggies, and whole grains when I absolutely need them. Weight is coming off well and blood sugars are normal for once. I just…

My success was that my son had a total meltdown last night over a huge school assignment due -- surprise--today! I made him own it, but through his drama could actually feel my body being drawn to the pantry to placate myself from the stress with food. When all was said and done (11PM!) I thought how I would typically grab…

That's me all over! Welcome!

We're here for you. I really sympathize with the shoulder thing. My senior mom fell and crushed her shoulder...it affected her confidence in feeling stable and she never got moving again. I am not one to give advice as I am just restarting my journey after many attempts...but just focus day to day on making yourself…

Excellent advice ADTeachTX PS I love your goal schedule and REWARDS!

Nobody ever tells you how hard it is to make friends as a grownup! I absolutely feel this way. Married 25 years with two boys...a great man in my life, but I need that female companionship. My dearest friend is a military spouse...and has moved away twice from me. We do our best with internet and such, but I miss the day…

Thank you for this post...really inspiring...I am at the beginning of my 100 pound journey. Best wishes!

I vent for sympathy primarily and for validation that my feelings are justified.

I have always liked this site, but never stuck with it. I am doing it with friends this time...hoping it will be more motivating and provide much needed support. Good luck!
