  • A good site is http://peaceloveandlowcarb.blogspot.com/ and you can check out my low carb board on Pinterest, it's got some of my favorite recipes http://pinterest.com/sunryse00/low-carb-recipes/ "No carb" is almost impossible, you can do it but it's hard to stick to over the long run and eating low carb is a lifestyle…
  • I've done the cauliflower crust and it didn't thrill me. I found this almond flour crust I haven't tried yet. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/863932-almond-meal-pizza-crust or you can google " almond flour pizza crust". My favorite so far is the meatzza crust using 1 pound of italian sausage browned. Mix in 4ozs of…
  • You can add me. I try to stay at 20g.
  • I'm a low carber. You can add me.
  • Welcome to MFP. I'm also an over 50 low carb-er since Dec. 2012. Feel free to friend me.
  • Great post and I agree with everything you said except this^. It's not about sustaining this style of eating until you reach goal, it's about sustaining it for life. IF you go back to eating the way you did before the weight loss chances are the weight plus more will come back. While the weight loss is great I'm trying to…
  • Now that sounds delicious.
  • I make french toast using the one minute muffin made in a square container, cut it in half so you have two slices, dip it a mixture of egg and cream or almond milk, fry in butter and serve with SF syrup. There's a fantastic pancake recipe on http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/ using almond flour (I make my own using almonds and…
  • You can add me. I'm 54 and had 120 lbs when I started.
  • The first book I read on low carb eating was "Fat to Skinny" by Doug Varrieur. He made it sound so simple that I thought even I could do that.
  • I eat low carb and cook for the whole family. I usually only cook one meal with a meat, a starch and a vegetable. I eat the meat and vegetable the family eats the starch. Once in a while I'll slip in a cauliflower casserole or cauliflower mashed in place of the starch and they eat it up and seem to do just fine. If it's…
  • I was wondering the same thing. A few weeks ago a bartender where we go quite regularly said that I looked "lovely" but I was dressed up and had makeup on when I usually don't so I just chalked it up to that. My coworkers mention that I'm looking thinner except they know I'm trying to lose the weight so I'm never sure if…
  • I always check the nutrition page on a restaurants website to see what the lowest carb items are. Some places like Panera have the ability to add and subtract items to see what can be omitted to get the lowest carbs. Some restaurants will gladly accommodate your requests so I usually see what's on other entrees and will…
  • Avocados,it seems like everyone likes them but no matter how I eat them they still taste like paste. And going by this topic I'm still the only person that doesn't like them. I agree with all the beet haters, dirt. Also yams/sweet potatoes and squash (unless it's made in to a pie)
  • My favorite low carb recipe sites: http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/ http://www.ibreatheimhungry.com/ http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/recipes/u/lowcarbrecipes.htm
  • This^ I love eating low carb because I'm very rarely hungry in the same way I was when trying to eat low fat & calorie based. Last week I splurged a bit to much and for three days afterwards I always felt hungry even though I was eating over my calorie limit. Once I kept my carbs down to a low limit the hunger and cravings…
  • If you're not familiar with eating low carb I suggest you read up on it. Two sites to check into are http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/ and http://www.ketogenic-diet-resource.com/. I try to stay around 20 net carbs (carbs minus fiber and sugar alcohols). I have my settings at 5% carbs/25% protein/70% fat. The main gist is…
  • Wow! Just wow. Judgmental much? 65% of people that try to lose weight fail and I highly doubt that they are all low carb eaters.
  • Yes, because no one that loses weight counting calories gains back the weight. If you go back to eating the way you did before the weight loss you'll gain it back whether it's calories or carbs you're counting. I'm doing LCHF staying around 5% or 20 net carbs. I think it would be impossible to go no carb since even an egg…
  • My favorite lunches are chicken salad with chicken, bacon, shredded cheese, jicama, steamed broccoli and ranch dressing on a low carb wrap. My #2 favorite is tuna salad on a minute muffin (without cinnamon). Otherwise I'll have leftovers from the night before and in a pinch I'll go for string cheese and some type of deli…
  • I do low carb, trying for under 20 net a day. You can add me, you can never have to many low carb friends.
  • I'm trying to do 20 net carbs. After eating low fat for years and never really succeeding at counting calories it was one more diet to try. I didn't know much about low carb eating. Sure, I'd heard of Atkins and some of the other big name plans but thought of it as a fad diet that wasn't really doable. One day I got the…
  • I try for 20 Net carbs a day and eat high fat. So far I've lost 25 lbs since 12/26/12. I pretty much started losing right away. I really haven't found it hard to stick to this style of eating since I search out alternatives to my favorites. So far I haven't felt deprived.
  • I just friended you. I aim for 20 Net carbs or less, I don't hit it but I aim for it (although yesterday and today are a bust).
  • You can add me. I'm the mother of 6 ranging from 33-16.
  • The amount of carbs you should be eating is pretty much a personal thing and everyone has a different opinion. If you want to cut down on your carbs cut out anywhere from one to all of the following: bread, pasta, cereal, rice, potatoes, most fruits (google for low carb fruits) and starchy vegetables like corn and peas.…
  • Here are two of my favorites: Saute shrimp in butter with garlic. Meanwhile steam broccoli. Put shrimp on top of the broccoli and drizzle the garlic butter. Tonight's dinner was steamed cauliflower and broccoli with seasoned and fried chicken. Lightly mix Ragu Classic Alfredo sauce with the chicken and vegetables. .
  • I've been low carb since just after Christmas 2012. I read the book "Fat to Skinny", which is 20 carbs or less (carbs minus fiber and sugar alcohols, but try to stay away from the sugar alcohols as much as possible). Now I pretty much just stay away from wheat bread, sugar and starch. I limit and stick to the lower carb…
  • My usual pizza crust is the cauliflower, mozzarella, eggs and seasonings. , , I've used both cooked mashed or riced cauliflower. Very good. As for your flax seed, as was mentioned use it in a minute muffin. There's a LC flax bread recipe on http://lowcarbdiets.about.com that has my eye and sounds pretty good. Almost like…
  • I've been low carb for 2 months. One of my main sources of recipes is Pinterest. You can do a search for low carb, some recipes aren't strictly low carb but with a few easy tweaks they are easy to convert. Usually the low carb pins will take you to websites with more recipes.
