  • Same here. I just got a 6.5 A1C a couple weeks ago and I'm kind of freaking out. I've been skating around the edges of this for a long time. I struggle with consistency and long-term implementation. I wish you well in this journey. These boards are so great for finding inspiration from others who have BTDT.
  • Wonderful story - thank you so much for sharing it. I just started my year 2 in April. I'm definitely slowing down, but I won't give up!
  • Still a major work in progress, but I'm shocked to see the face difference so far. I'm about 320 or so in the first photo, and 255 in the second. I read the Success Stories board often for inspiration, so thank you very much to all who post here.
  • We do this Ina Garten method almost exclusively. Works well with more than just salmon: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/member/views/BAREFOOT-CONTESSAS-HERB-ROASTED-SALMON-50136962
  • I finally figured out that I'm not great at motivating myself. So I started taking classes - circuit training and cycling. If I bought a DVD, I know I would never bother to put it in the machine. Classes are exactly what I needed.
  • Have you considered switching to weighing only once per month to reduce any anxiety about the weekly scale numbers? A woman's weight fluctuates monthly and that often has nothing to do with actual fat.
  • Thank you for posting! Remarkable.
  • I make a big pot of soup most Sundays and divide it up for lunches. I'll make some pasta separately and then throw them together when I'm ready to eat them. Just a few minutes in the microwave and it's much more satisfying than anything out of a box. You just need to find a little time on Sunday to prepare. If I get sick…

  • Thanks for posting. I check this board several times a week looking for exactly this type of post.
  • Fantastic! What a great transformation. Congrats!
  • I definitely do a double take when I catch a glimpse of myself in a window reflection or something similar as I walk by, but when it's just me and the bathroom mirror, my critical eye gets to work...
  • I had knee surgery in May 2013, one month after I started my weight loss efforts in 2013. You can absolutely lose weight while you are recuperating from surgery. Make sure you feed your body enough so that it can heal - eat good things and be kind to yourself. This is just a bump in the road, promise. I don't have an ACL…
  • I have been mixing 1/2 T of chia seeds with 1/4 milk and about 6 oz of plain greek yogurt. Stir well. To that, I add a couple teaspoons of the jam of my choice, or agave nectar, spices and fruit . Current favorite is cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and chopped apples with apple butter. This summer I couldn't get enough with…
  • I weigh weekly and occasionally every other week. I want to get on more often, but I'm seriously sad if it's up. I try to let enough time go between weigh ins that I'm more likely to see a down.
  • Congrats!
  • I like to find new blogs to follow - especially with recipes! Currently loving Lexi's Clean Kitchen recipes. Most important, I just keep doing it - even if I'm not motivated. And my motivation is definitely cyclical. But if you keep on keeping on, your motivation will come back around.
  • I live in Oregon - the joke is that we're all Vitamin D deficient since we don't see the sun 9 months out of the year. I take a supplement, but i've not noticed it having any affect on my WL.
  • I agree - these are great reads, thanks. I started working out in September, and I played with the same pound and a half for over 6 weeks, despite my mad logging skills. Given how sore I was, I was pretty sure it was water.
  • Great news getting off the meds! Congrats to you! What a tremendous 6 months.
  • Someone posted this link the other day, and I have a whole assembly planned for this weekend. Lots of great combo ideas: http://www.theyummylife.com/Instant_Oatmeal_Packets
  • Sometimes I switch to fizzy water. Or I'll add a little lemonade or cranberry juice to the fizzy water. On truly desperate days I'll drink it out of a wine glass. But who am I kidding? On those days the wine glass typically contains wine.
  • Liken whatever you happen to be eating to the closest large commercial chain pizza, which is likely in the database. Eat it, enjoy it, log it, and move on. I try not to get wrapped around the axle with logging (something I'm totally prone to doing).

  • What do you have your weight loss goal set at on MFP? I set mine at 1 lb per week, which allows me plenty of calories. On days when I'm hungrier than others, I make sure I exercise so that I can eat more. And I have been known not to freak out too much if I've had a couple days when I've gone under to allow for those…
  • Congrats! Can I please vote for Johann's "during" pic as best MFP pic ever?
  • Have you considered going to an orthopedic doctor? When my nerve was pinched, I got a shot (after chiropractor actually made it worse - lost feeling in my foot). It bothered me for 4 more days after the shot, and then it completely went away. That was 13 years ago.
  • Can I just say that anything that calls for avocado smashed all to hell has got to be the perfect lunch? I was on a hummus/veggie/wrap kick for a while, but yeah, it did get old. I like making a large pan of grilled veggies on Sunday night, and dividing them among 5 bowls with a grain of choice and then grilling up kebabs…
  • What a moving and motivating read this morning. Thank you so much.
  • I made Lemon Miso Roasted Sweet Potatoes the other night - they were fantastic. I ended up with 6 servings. 2 Large Sweet Potatoes, cut into chunks 1 Leek, coarsely chopped (white and light green portion) 1/4 Cup White Miso 4 Tbsp Rice Vinegar 3 Tbsp Olive Oil 3 Tbsp Tamari (or soy sauce) 1 Lemon (zest it and juice it) S&P…
  • Fitbit Aria. I like it because it automatically syncs with MFP. I used to only record my losses. Now if I commit to getting on the scale, I commit to whatever the number may be. My weightloss chart is a more accurate reflection of the tiny ups/downs one should expect.
