  • I dropped cow milk and cow cheese, replaced with goat cheese. Still have butter and heavy cream. Doesn't seem to bother my system too much, and I was hoping to see a skin change difference. No such luck. My skin looks amazing until the week before my period, then I look like I did at 14. It's horrendous and I absolutely…
  • Now - I'm coming at this from a person who LOVES breakfast, pretty much every breakfast food there is. And most breakfast foods are carb-y, sugar-y little devils. I tried for a while to create "substitute" or "low carb" versions of pancakes, waffles, biscuits etc, and it just never worked. All it did was make me crave them…
  • I would say find out what your children want to do first. For many things, college is not required. Science, math, engineering - those are career fields that require degrees. But many things children are interested in only require a trade school or an apprenticeship. All these children going to college isn't "a good sign",…
  • 5'3.75 (almost 5'4) 243lbs, size 18 jeans. I tend to lose a size every 20lbs or so (so 220 - size 16, 200 - size 14, 180 - size 12 etc).
  • Hey there. When I weighed about 180, I was in a size 12 and I'm the same height as you. We may have very similar body builds. I gain weight all over, so I'm not bottom heavy. It's totally feasible that you would be 163 and in a size 10. So enjoy and congrats!
  • ^ What she said. It would be unwise if you are trying to low-carb, to take advice from a anit-fat perspective. Limiting both, you would feel like a slug swimming in cotton balls. Low carb (anti grain/starch/etc) is an excellent weight loss, weight maintenance and general health strategy.
  • I follow a ketogenic diet, so normally about 5% of my calories from carbs, 50% - 60% from fats and the remainder in protein. Under 20g a day for sure, many times less than that. All from vegetables and a small (4oz) glass of milk for dessert in the evening. I won't debate the theories surrounding dairy, suffice to say I am…
  • Yep. I always type it into google wrong. And it never fails to correct me. So I never remember. Thanks
  • I would say sort of. I am a visual person, I make charts and graphs of every day concepts - and if I refuse, they just swim around in my head. If I don't see it, if I can't chart or plan it, it kind of ceases to exist for me. Not sure if you are familiar with the xkcd comics, but that guy gets me. :ohwell: *Edited to…
  • Mmm, yes pretty much this. The author chooses to be fat. The OP chooses to judge her. Neither of those things are wrong. The only thing that would be wrong is if the OP forced her to lose weight or she forced him to get fat again. You can have all the opinions you want, as long as you don't force them on others.
  • When I was living in NZ I also noticed things that were relatively cheap staples back home were very expensive. Pringles sticks out in my mind - like $4/can, and Bisquick (if you could find it) was like $6/box. And I was NOT a fan of Cadbury chocolate. I missed Hershey's like the devil.
  • I spent a year in New Zealand on an exchange in high school. I might saw off my own arm for a shipment of meat pies. They came in these individual little baggies and you just popped them in the oven. Sweet baby jebus I can still SMELL them.
  • ^This. Ignore the obnoxious attention seekers. They just don't have enough class to embarrass themselves.
  • Fellow PCOS struggle here. Consider trying Intermittent Fasting. I basically allow myself a 4-6 hour window each day to eat. I find that by fasting, by the time I'm ready to eat, my body is craving the kind of food its supposed to have - meat and vegetables. I consume approximately 30 - 60 carbs per day, with most of it…
  • Intermittent Fasting. Try giving yourself a 4-6 hour window every day for eating instead of being able to snack the whole day. I do it daily - and 1200+ calories is difficult to eat in 4-6 hours if you're eating well (ie not junk). I only suggest this because sometimes we feel like we just can't escape food. If your…
  • Hey hun. I've had PCOS since I was a teen. I can tell you that low-carb is the only method that I can actually lose weight with. Based on countless talks with doctors and my own research, this is NOT due to PCOS, this is due to insulin resistance, which can be one of the many wonderful symptoms. I've done just about every…
  • Sorry! This doesn't qualify! Be selfish....er! I will show you. I want to rub my ex's face in it and I want my husband's friends to be jealous of him.
  • My ex-boyfriend spent 15 minutes standing outside my car trying to convince me that those eye crust-ies you wake up with are actually dried boogers. Should have saved time by running him over. :ohwell:
  • My (then boyfriend - now husband) used to have "play dates", where we would order in and play LOTRO or guitar hero. To this day our ideal "date night" isn't going out to eat or to a movie, it's staying in and 1v1-ing until one of us gets so mad we have to stop before one of us files for divorce. Then we'll turn on Dr Who,…
  • OP, it's just a lack of accountability and personal responsibility. It's so much better to do whatever you want not give a crap about the consequences or the feelings of others. And hey, if people want to do that, I don't care - it doesn't ruin MY life. Hopefully it will prevent them having children that will grow up and…
  • The most intelligent comment I've seen. My husband likes very tiny women, and no matter how much weight I lose or have lost, my breasts and rear end aren't going anywhere. I know if I had been lined up next to 10 other women, I would have been 8th or 9th in order of preference. But my husband would go to the ends of the…
  • Most people who say this don't see you naked. When someone gets down to their last 10-15lbs, you are generally looking really good. Clothes can hide lots of "little" flaws, and a combination of seeing ourselves naked and being our own worst critics are major factors. Sure, some shallow obnoxious people might just want you…
  • You look amazing! And what a cute coat (hope you bought it!)
  • I know you guys just need to troll and that's fine, but I would hate for you to misinform someone with your arrogance. :flowerforyou: "The bodybugg armband is more accurate than a pedometer for calculating calories burned because it is "watching" your body from four different perspectives. A pedometer only measures steps.…
  • More accurate than a random internet estimate. Matt - because the poster asked "so what is the most accurate way to work out TDEE". Chad - http://www.bodymedia.com/Products/Benefits/Calorie-Management They are essentially the same device, I just linked the description of the Bodymedia.
  • *Sigh* I only looked forward to that game for 2 years. Then played it for 3 months, capped, did the ops and left for a break before GW2. I WISH I wanted to go back to it.
  • Get a Bodymedia Fit/Bodybugg.
  • Holy cow. Just let me have a moment..... WHY NOT ME!? :grumble: Ok, better now. Almost 4k, well first off - congratulations, that's awesome. Second, I peeked at your food diary and I would suggest upping your healthy-fat intake. Cook with olive oil or lard, use it as a salad dressing (olive oil, not lard), eat a handful of…
  • 1. What's your height/ weight? 5'3/224lbs 2. Do you get REALLY REALLY hungry during the day? If not, was there an adjustment period? Strangely, not at all. 3. What do you eat to prevent feeling like death (if you answered that you're not hungry)? All kinds of things. I try to have a serious amount of protein in anything,…
