I'm a chick too and know exactly how you feel. I watched some weight lifting tutorials on youtube to prepare myself, then walked in there like I owned the place. If you're confident you'll be less intimidated and I find the men are more willing to share the space that way.

No. Just no.

I'm dating someone obese and I'm in love with him.

Over-dramatic, condescending, worthless "information".

Eat whole heads of cabbages. That's it. You'll lose weight real quick.

Pretty sure you're just looking for validation...anyone with eyes and ears knows fat bashing happens constantly. Skinny people have privilege, so ya'll can't really whine that much. Best to accept it and get on with your life.

Have you ever considered that perhaps the bodies of other people work differently from yours?

5'9, large frame. Currently 228, started at 240. I want to get down between 180 and 170.

Try meetup.com, there are a lot of exercise groups that form through there, and usually people are really friendly and cool.

She sounds like she doesn't respect you much, and is only looking for someone to validate her own bad habits. If I were you, I'd find a more supportive, less selfish friend.

I'd have to be in single-digit body fat territory to be a size two. I'm 5'9" and my ideal size is a 9/10.

I was just diagnosed as type 1 last October. It's been quite an experience. I admire all of you who have lost weight! I gained 40lbs on insulin and am now trying to get it off, along with an additional 20lbs (I was overweight when diagnosed). Feel free to add me if you like :)

I was just diagnosed with type 1 last October, and have had hypothyroidism for about eleven years. I definitely know what you're going through! I've been trying my hardest to lose weight but have only lost a few pounds so far. So frustrating!

It definitely gets easier. It hurts like hell at first but if you keep going the soreness will ease. Baths with epsom salts also help.
