Recent studies published by the NY Times does support this but it all depends on what you are doing. I think if you have a long, intense workout planned that you are probably better off having a small serving of protein prior to your work out but you need to see what works for you.

resistance bands: use instead of hand weights. Some exercise DVD's use them foam roller: used to roll away the pain from tight muscles. Especially good for the IT band (outside of legs). 28 minutes! Wow. I wish I were doing it that fast. I've been running a bit over a year and have gotten my 5K time down from 42 minutes to 37 minutes. I have hopes of doing 33 minutes by next summer. I don't know about this normalization thing but if I were you I'd be thrilled!!! Keep it up.

Sounds great - incline 5 is intense! And remember, you won't always be here. Once you start losing and feeling more fit you'll start to go faster and want to do other things as well. This is just your first step and it sounds like a good one.

I was eating enough to just offset my exercise and hence -what went in I sweated off and had no deficit! BUT I DID NOT GAIN A SINGLE POUND IN 6 MONTHS!! I was a size 10 once - a long long time ago :smile: and I thought of myself as skinny so I guess its all what you bring to the table. Maybe they are just being supportive and nice. But ask yourself - do you want to lose 10lbs to be healthier or just to say you wear a size 6?

It does. I've been drinking maybe 40oz at work for years and I do not constantly have to run to the bathroom any longer. I agree with Irodriguez - pace yourself and drink more later in the afternoon as the winding down and just before you head to lunch.

try a running skirt! I don't have one but have friends who wear them and love them. They are skorts really but allow you freedom of movement and if the short part rides up I guess no one would notice. But I doubt you'd find one for less the $30.

Don't know about your commute or if you have kids to wrestle in the morning but getting up 45 minutes earlier then you do now would allow you to do a workout DVD before getting ready in the morning.
