Thank you! I'll definitely keep an eye on recovery progression and if anything just cut down on c25k as lifting is my primary concern. Thanks again!
-
C25k is a progressive cardio program to run a 5k in 8/9 weeks running 3x a week avg workout time being 30 mins. I thought perhaps working out only 3 days a week and combining both workouts on the same day would be better because I have more recovery time overall.

Not sure if this will be useful info but i do plan on eating maintenance for the next 2/3 months then eat at a deficit.
-
Yes you can customize mfp to that number. If you log exercise just ignore mfp adjustment. Go to my home page then click goals and click edit and custom goals

Hi Janice, you can check out this calculator, http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ I entered in some of your stats as sedentary and your tdee is about 1600. If you aren't sedentary and work out, lets say 1-3 hours per week your tdee is about 1800. EM2WL recommends a 15% cut from your tdee so if you're sedentary…

Sounds interesting. I'd like to know more.
-
I think since insanity is mostly a lower body workout and then on top of that you are running and biking etc, you aren't giving your legs enough rest. Also how is your protein intake? That could help as well
-
Ok thank you! I'll just monitor my losses etc
-
Another ? Is nearing 25% bf would a 500 cal deficit be too large?
-
So with 33% bf would a 500 cal deficit be too big? I wouldnt think so since that bf is in the overweight or obese category.
-
I only have 10-15 lbs left to lose as well but have a 33% bf. if all lbs lost was 95% fat then I'd be at 25% bf at 165. Id still be left with a reasonable amount of fat. So does this pertain to certain bf%? I would assume losing 5lbs at 33% bf vs 20% would be different??
-
Is this bf calc more accurate?
-
You should eat tdee-15% if you gain consistently over a 4-6 week period your metabolism may be suppressed. If anything you should eat more than 2200 if you are very active

Add meeee :) http://www.fitbit.com/user/25YDT2 And op an ER nurse!! I'm in school preparing for med school to be an er doc and practice gen surg
-
165 lbs 25% bf then go from there. I'm 5'6 in my pic thats me at about 180/185
-
It could be that your tdee is lower or higher than assumed. An rmr test would confirm. I got one done and it has helped me
-
I would suggest a cut of 15% if you bmr is around 1600
-
I think rmr can only change if lbm increases or decreases. Since you use bmf take the avg tdee and use that number for maintenance. If youve had a solid exercise routine for the past 14-21 days and a pretty consistent intake that data should be accurate. Depending on the intensity of your workouts you may be overtraining
-
great article!
-
I think 1500 is right about where your bmr is and your body is probably just holding on to fat because insanity is very intense but your not feuling your body properly. I'll be eating 2300 when I begin tomorrow so maybe 2000 is good for you.
-
Hi everyone! I'm starting month 2 on Monday. I did one round of insanity before, now I'm jumping into month two for a second round of month 2. Month one is ok, I love month 2 for the challenge so I've taken a rest week in preparation for the killing in month two lol. I'll be working out 6am  before work but I'm ready…
-
Id hope it tracks sleep calories i think it would. It could be that scooby is more of a range. For example 3-5 hrs/week is 2400 cals. But what if your activity is 3.1 hrs per week versus 5.5 hrs. They both fall within the same range but surely maintenance calls would vary between the two.
-
If jawbone is correct then you only had a 150 cal deficit and would take about 3.3 weeks to see a pound of fat go. If you know bf% you can get a more accurate bmr. There are other factors like if you chose the correct activity level, if you weigh your food vs measuring, if youve eaten low cals for a long period etc.
-
Do you stretch before and afterwards? I know when I did insanity I would skip over them and my knees began hurting and then I started doing the stretches and it relieved the pain a bit. I took a week off from insanity because the pain was bad and would hurt just climbing the stairs. The week off helped and as I got back…
-
Have you tried eating tdee for a week to see if the estimated tdee is near your actual tdee? I know that if it's saying your bmr is lower it may or may not be true. Have you gotten your rmr tested? And depending on how much you have to lose, if less than 10 lbs, you may want a 10% deficit instead of 15.
-
I dont think its normal. Didnt happen to me. Many report high energy after upping cals.
-
Interesting topic. Question, would the fitbit track hiit work outs like turbofire or insanity well?
-
Thank you!
-
1. A 15% cut would be better for you with little to lose. Then as you get closer drop cut to 10% 2. Not sure, I eat the same everyday when I go out to eat I try to fit it in calorie wise 3. Cals in vs cals out but obv the more healthy the more volume. 4. I usually still eat at my goal as the ranges for mod activity is 3-5…
-
I think if youre keeping the same routine for your cut fitbit avg over a months time -15% would be better unless you have over 50-75 lbs to lose then 20% would be fine
