  • I agree with one of the posters that you may want to talk to your doctor or a nutritionist about. I know where you are coming from though. I lost 72 lbs. using MyFitnesspal, counting calories and exercising a good bit. After I had gotten myself under 200 lbs., I got lazy and I have gained back about 30 lbs. I'm staying at…
  • Welcome back Robert. I am the same as you but get never get into P90X. Too tough for me. I decided to stick to easier cardio and sports to try to help me. I started MyFitnesspal around June 2010. My goal was to get below 200 lbs. by Dec. 31 of the same year. I can proudly say that at my final weigh-in of the year I hit my…
  • Don't get discouraged. We've all been there but "yes" it is hard. I'm telling you its a change it lifestyle that you must be committed to. While the myfitnesspal tools are great for logging your calories, it will do you no good if you don't stay under or at your allotted calorie intake for the day. You will also need to…

  • Glad to have you aboard. Know that through your time here you will face ups and downs. Do not get discouraged. It's all about believing in yourself and knowing that you can do it. I began my journey May 11th, 2010 and have lost 73 lbs. since then and I have to credit a good bit of that motivation to my friends and tools on…
  • Concentrate on the things that got you to where you are now. Realize what you have already accomplished and know that you don't want to backtrack to where you were. Do it for your husband and know how proud he will be of you for your accomplishment and even more than that, do it for yourself! I still have about 10 lbs. to…
  • To tell you from experience, I try not to eat my exercise calories myself. In my journey of my 70 lb. weight loss, I made it a point not to do so. I was very strict with this and it worked. It may be different for you but this is what I did. I can say, however, that since I did hit the 70 lb. mark that I have been eating…
  • An absolutely fantastic job! You look great! You are an inspiration!
  • It does all come down to you. As they say, "The buck stops here!" I know how you feel and where you are coming from. Just last April I was at 270 lbs. and was heading downhill fast. I made the decision that I would not allow myself to continue on the way I was. Yes...you must find a focus point that will motivate you.…
  • Welcome aboard. You can be successful at whatever you put your mind to. Good luck!
  • I have found that the exercise calories on this site seems to be quite generous. I myself think that several of them are way too high. I usually just use the numbers that the machine I am working on shows that I assume is based on your heart rate, distance and time. I have also done a lot of online research with…
  • Yeah. I've heard those workout are pretty tough. As a matter of fact, I've heard those Brazilians can be nuts. :-) Budumpa! Sorry, had to be done. Welcome to the site!
  • Welcome to the site. You will find a lot of encouragement here and you'll find that it can become addictive when you count your calories. Glad to have you here!

  • I know how you feel too. I work out 7 days a week about 45 minutes a day. I've been doing this since I started on May 12th. I am anemic and take an iron supplement, plus multivitamin and B Complex for energy. I haven't seen a boost in my energy though. I'm still always tired. I do have sleep apnea as well and I hardly…
  • Carissa, welcome to the site. One thing you may want to try is to invite your friends to exercise with you. You can still laugh and have a good time but in the process, accomplish the goals you want to reach. Even taking some time on the weekends when you are not working or not in school would be a great way to start. It's…

  • Uhh...Ewww! I think I'll pass. Had a bad experience with tofu. When you bite into it thinking it's a piece of chicken and ending up with the slimy consistency of tofu, it's not a remember-able experience.
  • Welcome to the states...where good food works against you!
  • I'm I guess what you would consider old at 41 but if you want support, I'll be happy to be your friend.
  • Thanks to everyone for all their great advice. I will try to keep encouraging her in a non invasive manner and hope that she will choose to make that change for herself. I myself know I will be struggling in the next few months as my son's high school senior football season starts. It is a very busy time of the year for me…
  • The same happened to me in the first week. I lost 12 lbs. in week one but it tapered off to a more normal 2 to 3 lbs. per week after that. I agree with everyone else here that I think most of it was water loss. I believe that is what happened to me. Way to go on your early success. Just make sure you stay consistent with…
  • I wanted first and foremost to say "Thank You" to you and your husband for your service to this country. I admire you guys for that. Second, I wanted to say that you can do it and good luck to you in your endeavors!
  • Glad to have you aboard! Looks like you are off to a good start with 13 lbs. already. The folks here will help keep you motivated and on track. I'll send you a friend request as well. I have got a ways to go myself, so I'll be here for the long haul. Good luck with your goals!
  • You can look at my picture and see I have been overweight for quite some time. I used to be athletic in my younger days and I guess got the mentality that I would never gain weight. Boy, that changes in a hurry when you leave high school and stop being active. I have to say, it has been a real eye opener to count calories.…

  • You're welcome to add me as a friend too!
  • Don't worry about it. It's nothing that a few years of counseling can't resolve. Just kidding. I'm sure he's more embarrassed than you are.
  • Eeek! Don't think I would ever go to sleep if I worked out late at night. I have enough trouble sleeping as it is!
  • Welcome aboard! I'm new here too...about a week and a half. I love the food calorie counter. Helps me keep up with everything and it's a great community for encouragement. I've got at least 56 more lbs. to go so I need all the encouragement I can get! Good luck!
  • I agree with Hermit4Hire. Definitely get analyzed. I myself have found that New Balance are the most comfortable to me but it's best to have a trained person in shoes to do that. Find a reputable store that deals strictly in athletic shoes that would be knowledgeable in your area.
  • I would first like to say "Thank You!" to you and your husband for his service to this country. It truly takes a strong person and sacrifice to guard the freedoms of this country and I want to show my gratitude by just saying "Thanks". Second, welcome to the site. I am a newbie here myself. I just signed up last week and…
  • Uhh.....Eww! Sorry, my wife is Italian. I guess you see why I'm as big as a house but don't think I could go for that. I refuse to ruin my love for Italian food with a substitute. I'll just have to eat a very small portion!
  • Glad to see you here. I am in the same boat as well. My last doctor's visit was an eye opener. In not so many words he was telling my shape up, eat right or become diabetic and die at a young age. I want to see my kids grow up thank you very much. I'm not ready to by buried just yet!
