Welcome!! Tracking everything is key and staying as close to your # as possible. I had a friend who ate just a handful of M&M's a day and wasn't logging it and not getting anywhere.....once she started counting that she rocked it and down 36+lbs in a year! good luck on your journey and feel free to add me!

I agree completely! You can ask people all day long but everyone is different and getting fit for proper shoes was the BEST thing I ever did. I have had to try a couple of pair now but love the ones I have. Also ask the store if they have a return policy. Some stores will let you test the shoes for a period of time to see…

I have read that strength training helps burn more fat then just cardio. I think you want to mix it up and have both but what i have read (recently on bodybuilding.com) that more muscles burn more fat. I personally do both with High Intensity Ciruit Training. I definitely wouldn't stop it completely.

Me too (literally 2 normally!) .....Just have to balance it out with exercise and eating clean on other meals!

definitely need strength!! And more of it......you'll burn more calories at the end of the day. Try alternating between the 2, i've read a lot of articles that this is a great way to burn more calories. Sprint all out hard as you can for 3 minutes or so, hop off do weights/reps, back on .....repeat.

i think it defers for everyone. Mine used to be 4 miles but since i started training for Half's i now dont' get it till mile 7+. love it.

Count everything....even that handfull of M&M's :) don't punish yourself on bad days...doesn't do you any good. I do Jillian Michaels when I can't make it to the gym or out for a run, they are only 20 mins but packed full to change your body!

I had this happen to me and you are correct to take it to a bike shop and check everything....you can over extend your knee. In the mean time....BIOFREEZE :) and Aleve.

I use GU as well as a hand held water bottle. Camelback would be hard to run with bouncing on your back the entire way but they do make handhelds that are great. Got mine on Amazon.

I do Jillian Michaels DVD's at home with weights. They can be purchased pretty much anywhere including Walmart, Target and Amazon.com for less than $10. Currently doing 30 Day Shred :)

I have had this happen to me before and i found out that i was gripping my right hand so tight that my knuckles were white! The stress went all the way into my shoulder, I didn't even notice I was doing it! Try and notice next time you run, or carry something in your hand to prevent gripping.

I used to feel the same way until I joined a running group with a friend that was in the same boat I was and never had ran. Ryn clubs have all levels of runners/walkers. I just completed my second half marathon at a run/walk pace. I am not sure i'll ever be able to run straight without stopping but enjoy the run now even…

I am personally loving anything Jillian Michaels.....I can totally see a difference in my arms, abs and legs. It is an all over workout no matter what DVD you get. I just started 30DS and am already feeling the difference!

There are plenty of online training schedules that are great, start with the Couch to 5K plan! I just finished my first Half in March in DC and am doing my second one this weekend in Seattle. I am not running the full 13.1 yet but that is my goal on the next one! Welcome to running!
