You can lose weight through diet alone. Depends on whatever works best for you. My opinion would be a mixture of both. Exercising and training at the gym made me feel stronger and more mentally together. Exercising allows me to eat more, my current average is 1700-1800 calories a day and I can still lose a pound a week.

You're not crazy! Do what's best for you- I try not to weigh myself regularly either, because I don't want to get disappointed I "only" lost X amount this week. .I can feel and see the changes on my body and that's good enough for me.
