  • I used Zenlabs couch to 10k app. The first 8 weeks are the same as the 5k app and then it bridges to the 10k. It seems to be one of the popular ones around here. A lot of people also seem to like the Zombie Run app. I've never tried it, but those are usually the two that get recommendations here lately.
  • It's only a bad idea if it puts you over your calorie goal. It doesn't matter when you eat your calories as long as you stay within them.
  • Honestly, I really wouldn't worry about it. You can't undo it. You may have gained some (either in water weight or fat) depending on how much you ate above maintenance.. although I'd guess it probably wasn't a lot above maintenance based on your numbers. I took the weekend off. I overate and under exercised for two days.…
  • Is everything else working normally with your Fitbit? I've had issues that have been fixed with the suggestions above. However, I recently had an issue with my Fitbit itself. It was tracking steps, but not recording my sleep or hourly steps. Turns out that there was an issue with the HR monitor getting stuck so it wasn't…
  • I think it really comes down to the person and how you approach the workout. I did almost all of c210k on the treadmill. I completed the entire program with a 4mph (15 min/mile pace). I did a couple (like 2) outside runs, but mainly treadmill. By the time I did my first 5k, I knew exactly how my body felt when running..…
  • The heat could be a perfectly good reason why it was an off day as well. I needed to do a timed mile yesterday and I headed out when it was 82 degrees without realizing how hot/humid it was yesterday. Now, since it was a timed mile, I was pushing to run faster than normal.. but I was also really struggling. Normally with a…
  • Well let's start with the question-- what do you mean you can't get out of the 170s?! You said it's been more that 6 weeks- but are we discussing 176, 175,174, 175, 173.. or are we discussing "I've been stuck at 171 for 6 weeks"... Bc that's different. I ask bc I feel like I get stuck at each 10 pounds. In all actuality,…
  • Do you mean to build up to a 5k? Zenlabs has a free app for c25k or c210k that will give you up 14 weeks with intervals for free.
  • I'm 34 and engaged.
  • Put your info in myfitnesspal and eat that any calories. When you select how much you want to lose, it will tell you the calories to have a deficit. Basically it means you have to eat less calories than you burn. You burn a certain number of calories just by being alive (living, breathing). You also earn more calories the…
  • Honestly, depending on your wife's stats, she probably just needs less food than you. While eating the same meals is fine, she would need smaller portions. Also, make sure you are accurately measuring items. You may have some flexibility in your calories, but she may have less wiggle room. In addition, is she tracking her…
  • What do you see if you click on your Fitbit adjusted calories? Open your diary, click on the adjustment, click on the "extra calories burned." It should tell you why/how the adjustment was made and should help you to figure out if it's calculating based on the previously entered exercise calories.
  • Yea.. so exactly what tinkerbellang83 said about how calories are determined. I'd start with looking in your goals to see where you activity level is set. I have mine set to sedentary and I have a Fitbit that imports my step count. I let those steps adjust to add more calories in throughout the day. I usually start getting…
  • Aw yeah, I think therr was another post from someone w the same issue and also used a misfit. I'd say there is something wrong w the formula that is being used between misfit-mfp.
  • 1 How are you tracking the exercise? Fitness tracker, manual input? 2 What is your activity level set at on mfp?
  • I really like the 21 Day Fix workouts. I did 3 rounds starting in June with couch to 10k when I was preparing for Warrior Dash. I felt so much stronger doing the workouts. I was doing the full program when building up to the 5k, but after I started the bridge to 10k- running takes a lot more time. That being said, I still…
  • The only thing I can think of is that your activity level is off. If you have it set to "active" on MFP, you won't get additional calories until you reach 10,000 steps. However, if you have it set to "sedentary," then you will get a step adjustment for more calories using your fitbit. I have my account set for sedentary. I…
  • I just finished c210k last night with my 3rd hour long run. There were 13 weeks building to this. You've got this.
  • I used zenlabs couch to 10k app.. which has the 5k build up for the first 8 weeks, followed by 6 weeks to build to th 10k. It was free. I liked the announcements telling me when to switch.
  • Some say yes. Some say no. With that about of deficient, I'd suggest eating back at least some of the exercis calories (or at least ensuring you're getting the recommended 1800). Eating 1500, burning 600 leave a net of 900.
  • Yea.. I am ridiculously excited (and nervous). I do want to be able to run the whole thing.. but I'm not going to miss a chance to take a few pictures from the bridge!
  • There is a local running group where I live that I could join. But part of the reason I am considering the virtual option is bc my entire group would be training for the same race that I am doing. I guess I need to decide tomorrow though bc training starts in Sat (which is great since I'm running a 5k in Williamsport). PS…
  • Thanks. I wish I was close enough to run with the groups in their cities, but I'm in Pennsylvania. It would def be worth it for me if I was close because they are doing training runs twice a week. The virtual option makes me a little nervous. I am also worried about the nutrition advice that they will give according to the…
  • I'm confused why gall bladder removal and adipex would be related?! I had my gallbladder removed 6 years ago and have lost 40 pounds over the last year.
  • I am ALLLL over the place. I try to run 3 times a week. Since I am finishing c210k this week, it is a little over an hour each time. I do 21 Day Fix on "off days" from running - which are 30 min each. However, I will sometimes skip those if I need rest days. I usually find 1 day a week to get on my bike and we've been…
  • I almost always save around 250 calories for the evening and have 28 grams of cashews with 14 grams of mini chocolate chips. It gives me both the sweet and salty that I want.
  • It really depends how you have your activity setting on mfp. While some can argue for/against it being considered exercise, it's certainly more activity than sitting on the couch! If you have your activity level set to sedentary and have fitbit sync, you will get more calories from those steps. If you take that into…
  • So on a cruiser, the big padded seats won't be the end of the world as long as she is able to sit up right. On a mountain or road bike (when she would be leaning forward more), a regular/narrower seat is 100% better. Yes - it's still uncomfortable, but saddle time makes it all better. I would think switching seats…
  • My very first 10k is on Nov 5th, too! I just want to finish it (which I suppose with be a personal best for me regardless)! :-)
  • When I really started focusing on fitness, I signed up for a few different events. I completed a Warrior Dash a few weeks ago. I am doing Insane Inflatables with my stepson (goal is keeping up with him even though it's just for fun) next month. My 'big goal' is that I am registered for a 10k in Nov.
