Be careful about going too overboard with the "diet" mentality. In my opinion, it's better to think of this as changing the way you eat forever, not a diet. This means eating realistically. By all means have a chicken breast and beans, but don't be afraid to have "bad" foods too. The only thing that matters is that you…

Sounds like a bad idea to me. Why risk harming your metabolism, and perhaps more importantly, why punish yourself? That's why people fail, you should just eat healthily and well and the weight will come off.

Yeah the music is pretty poor it has to be said!

Any kind of pickled veggies are great imo

I probably have a higher target than you (2600), but I go under by similar amounts most days after exercising, then have the odd day where I go over. As long as it pretty much balances out in the long term and you don't drop below about 1200 you should be fine.

You need to eat to lose weight! Start eating more, get your metabolism functioning again, accept you may gain a few pounds at first, then watch the weight start coming off :)
-
That may be part of the problem. Drinking water is really good for your skin.
-
One day over your target is absolutely not going to affect anything. Just keep going, that's the only thing that matters.

Same here, I did it for a while and I can see that it would work for people who eat the wrong foods rather than eat too much - but that's not me! I find counting calories much more suitable.
-
I weigh daily, though I no longer pay too much attention to fluctuations. I record my weight twice a week which is probably more than necessary but I like to have the data!

I've had one in the past, I couldn't tell any difference over plain tap water personally. Tap water does the job just fine for me!

Wow I thought my 800 hours over 4 years on Battlefield 2 was bad!
-
Trust me, describing my uncoordinated flailing in front of the Kinect as "dancing" would be extremely generous! I'm 6'5", 420lbs and I listen to metal - it's safe to say I have never done anything vaguely dance-like in my life! Even so, nothing I've done with the Kinect provides quite same level of work out as Dance…

I'm guessing you're on XBox - http://www.xbox.com/en-US/Marketplace/Product/Dance-Central-2/Import Seems you can only do it for free if you pre-ordered though otherwise you need to spend 400 points (a bit cheeky if you ask me - I already paid for both games!)
-
On XBox you can make items Favourites (Y i think). They will then be accessible from a quick menu accessed by pressing up on the d-pad. Not quite as quick as hot keys on the PC, but still better than digging through menus!
-
I'd also add that the figure of 1200 which is commonly referenced is not necessarily accurate for everyone. I am much bigger than most people, and I only have to drop to about 1800 for a week or so to see my weight loss stop dead until I've had a week of 2500 cals.

I got Dance Central 2 for Christmas (already had the first one), haven't played it yet as I've been ill for days (plus, Skyrim!), but I'm looking forward to giving it a go. My girlfriend tells me recognition is even better now. Oh you can import all of the DC1 songs too, though I didn't know about a brochure code, I spent…

Great job, well done!

My initial reaction is that most of these foods are pretty nasty! But it all depends what you were raised with I suppose. In the UK we have black pudding (dried blood and fat in a sausage), brawn (pig or calfs head turned into a meaty jelly, often with brain included), calves feet and other similarly nasty stuff. I still…

Eat more food! No adult can live well on fewer than 1200 calories a day. I've just come out of 2 weeks without weight loss due to not eating enough. Sounds strange I know, but if your body has adapted to the low amount of calories it will slow down your metabolism as a survival mechanism. Let it know you're not starving by…

I'd suggest a simple solution - forget about it! Forget it ever happened and just carry on where you left off. 2 days off the wagon isn't going to make any difference in the grand scheme of things.
-
I will stay under my maintenance calories and also exercise, but I will probably get my calories from unhealthier foods than normal.
-
I'd just cook less personally.
-
If you can afford I would also recommend getting the display. The "trip" function is so useful for tracking exercise calories (though you can do all that via the site too, it's just not as easy).
-
I have the UK version of the Bodymedia Fit which it seems is pretty much the same device. I can totally recommend it, it's great. I had no problems setting it up at all (though I am a computer programmer!). It is such a useful device. For example, MFP was under-estimating my metabolic rate by about 1400 calories per day!…

From what I've read on the subject, much of the loose skin is actually still fat. Dieting is going to alter your body composition - there's no way to lose 200lbs without losing some muscle along with it. Obviously there will be some loose skin after losing the amount of weight most of us in this group need to lose, but I…

Thanks for all the great replies, that's very helpful. I think the issue that's caused me to stall is that for about 3 weeks I was actually consuming a net intake of about 1500 - 2000 most days. I completely switched my entire diet literally overnight from shop bought sandwiches for lunch and take away food for dinner to a…

That is quite a lot, but it could be down to a combination of reduced water retention, as well as actual fat loss. There is also the possibility that you are weighing yourself at different ends of your normal weight fluctuation. Most people's weight fluctuates by a couple of pounds or more naturally during a day, so if you…
-
I was also sceptical until I tried it. It really is very good at tracking you.
-
No! 59 calories is not worth worrying about too much, you will still have been well under your maintenance calories. If you're really concerned, aim for a similar amount under another day or go for a 5-10 minute walk, but I wouldn't worry about it.
