Plateau

I have lost 15lbs so far. I have been sticking to 1200 calories (sometimes going under tbh) and this week my weight has stayed the same. Can I ask if people think I should reduce my calorie intake as perhaps my body has got used to needing 1200 calories. I am 5ft 6 inches and am wanting to loose another 11 lbs in order to reach my goal. Thanx x

Great job with your weight loss!! Maybe try changing your goal to "lose 1/2 lb per week"? I know it seems counterintuitive to eat more, but that helped me break my plateau. Especially because you only have 11 left to lose!0

1 week is not a plateau. As you get closer to your goal, your weight loss will slow down. Eat more.0

Sounds like your starvation diet has done what is so very typical of those engaged in self-sabotaged, low cal food intake.
More is less when you are that below your maintenance.
Also, what exercises are you doing?
If none, time to start.
Do cardio AND resistance.
As for proper diet make sure your MFP settings are for 1lb per week, and make sure you are eating as close to your daily goal as you can. If not, forget making any progress.
Starvation diets just don't work.
And progress is limited for those who don't exercise.0 -
its okay:) i started at 117 maybey 115 but now i have been stuck at 110 for the past month '-'...im not trying to go off other people just myself but what ive learned is that you usually spend a couple weeks at one weight but if you keep it up you lose more and level out again...i think that kind of makes it more permanent so its a good thing:)0

I had the same but I by passed my plateau by 400g while I was not really beleiving it would happen anymore. Sometimes you lose fat but increase your muscles, so you can feel better in front of the miror or in your mind but the weight is stagnant for a couple of days. Sometimes it is also due to the quantity of water you have been drinking. The fact that you do not gain weight means your strategy is ok. Let's look at the good side of it: you get much more satisfaction in a couple of days when you will break it.0

I have to agree with everything that is said. Starvation diet are called "cannibalism" by nutrition specialists. Instead of weight, it is much better to consider fat/muscle ratio. Not eating enough without exercising leave the exact amount of fat around the belly but take the muscle off (so you would lose weight that will come back as soon as you would stop "cannibalizing" yourself). Instead, walking for 30 minutes on lunch time or to the work would already make a difference.0 -
Eat more food! No adult can live well on fewer than 1200 calories a day. I've just come out of 2 weeks without weight loss due to not eating enough. Sounds strange I know, but if your body has adapted to the low amount of calories it will slow down your metabolism as a survival mechanism. Let it know you're not starving by eating, and the weight will start coming off again. From then on, never drop below 1200!0

Thank you every one for your advice. It has been very helpful. I will now keep up the calories and I have started walking for an hour a day. (Even today in the snow).0
