  • Hi! Welcome back! I've just joined back again this month. I lost weight w/MFP a couple of years ago, but gained it back. Looking to lose it again and keep it off. Happy to be a friend and support you on our journey.
  • Hi! I'm starting again this month too. I also lost a couple of years ago and gained it back. I want to lose it again and keep it off this time. I'm happy to support you on your journey.
  • Thanks for your post! Awesome. Double bump :)
  • Simon, words almost escape me... Thanks for sharing your journey so far. You are inspiring. Continue all your great work! You will be at your goal before you know it! Every day, every decision we make, is a HUGE victory! Hugs to you and your wife.
  • Wonderful post. I can relate, and it's inspiring to hear. So happy to hear you're feeling better, physically, mentally and emotionally. Life is good!!!! Enjoy. Have a brilliant day!
  • Thanks everyone! :)
  • Thanks! I was eating 1200 calories daily while I was trying to lose (a tiny bit above my BMR). I focused mostly on walking most days, and started running at some point. I would walk/run for about 45 minutes a day. WIth one rest day, every 7-10 days. Good luck with your weight loss!
  • AWESOME!!!!! :) Be proud. You ROCK! :) You're amazing. Thanks for the inspiration.
  • My friend, I'm sorry to hear about your loss of friendship with Emma. I agree with many of the responses here. I too do not think there is anything you an do to repair the friendship because the problem is about her and her feelings, and it looks like's she's unwilling. The best advice I could give you is to allow yourself…
  • I think your post was extremely brave and I give you the upmost kudos for putting it out there. You are surrounded by supportive people here. I would think that most binge eating is motivated by some underlying feelings or issues that need resolved. I hear you on the budget issues. For myself, when I have some emotional…
  • If you're getting shin-spints than I would suspect that you have old sneakers. Old sneakers have no cushion left and don't protect against the impact. New sneakers are in order! My rule of thumb: the most comfortable pair of sneakers are the BEST sneakers. Go to the store and try on 10 different brands. The most…
  • I can see you joined last month (Jan 12) and your ticker says you lost 16 pounds. If you're lost that in the past month, then I'd say that you're losing weight too quickly. I'm not sure why MFP is giving you 1200, if you BMR says 1612. I agree that you should be eating a minimum of your BMR calories. Another question to…
  • "zon tuin" means "sun garden" in Dutch. I have a big garden at my home, and I love gardening. I also love the sun, which helps my garden grow. :)
  • For Lent a few years ago, I gave up guilt. Catholics are really good about feeling guilty for things that we shouldn't. It turned out to be a great Lent and a really good thing, and so I keep it up. So this year, I give up unnecessary guilt again. :) It's good for the self-esteem.
  • Welcome to MFP! Congrats on your 55 pound loss. That is fabulous! :) MFP has really helped me lose weight... and I'm absolutely happy to support you. Have a great day! -Judith
  • You can not motivate anyone... only yourself. What you CAN do is INSPIRE someone, though. Inspire your friend by your example, your health, your choices, your non-judgement, your acceptance of who and where they are. Being a good example is the perfect way to inspire someone. They will see what you have and what you've…
  • Henry Ford said "Nothing is particularly hard if you divide it into small jobs" This is a quote that I bring to mind when I feel completely overwhelmed by something I need to accomplish. I try not to look at the whole thing at once... otherwise, I become paralyzed. I break it out into small jobs, small tasks, mini goals,…
  • Yes. But I think part of the weight loss journey is persistence. Sometimes you are at a plateau and your body does not want to give. It is it's nature. It does not want to change. Our job is to put it under stress (good stress) with healthy foods, water, exercise. Over time, it will bend to the force of this good stress.…
  • I totally agree. You need to keep with it for longer than 2 weeks before knowing whether or not there's a problem. Lots of water is essential. Eating vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains are very important. Trying to cut down (or eliminate processed foods) will help as well. One step at a time. Keep at it. Measure…
  • Wolfpaw, Welcome! Happy to have you here! Good luck with your goals. If you're ready to put some effort into it, then you WILL see results. It's guaranteed. You can do it! I'm always happy to give and receive support. Have a great day! :)
  • Janet, Thanks for your post. Very interesting and though-provoking. I agree with your points, and also share your philosophy. I am always amazed at how people give advice and coaching to others in the guise of helping them, when in fact, it boils down to: you should be doing it my way. We are all different. We feel…
  • I also have an under-active thyroid. I'm taking medication, and that is keeping my TSH levels in the good zone. (I am diligent about getting tested regularily with my endocrinologist, as thyroid changes can sneak up on you!) I am doing okay losing weight by restricting my calories and exercise. I try to eat healthy, which…
  • I find this SUPER annoying: "What?! You're trying to lose weight!? You're so skinny!" ARGH! Well, if you call skinny being 25lbs overweight (and having an unhealthy BMI), then yes! But PLEASE people... Can't I strive to have a healthy BMI, FEEL good, and look good for myself?! I'm now considered skinny and don't need to…
  • Me too... :) Bump, for later reading. Thanks! Great post.
  • Find a good Hair Stylist! They'll take in the texture/color/weight of your hair, take your needs (like how much time you want to spend, and your life style) and your requirements (what you like, don't like or find frustrating), and then they will make a recomendation for a hair style that would suit you, as well as work…
  • Welcome Amy! Good luck with your weight loss goals. This is a great place to be successful. Have a great day!
