Hmm...It could possibly be a sodium deficiency, or maybe it's just not the right way of eating for you. I would say maybe looking into the sodium thing or to just listen to your body and give something else a try. Keto isn't the only way to eat healthy.

Just for clarity, that is 5% carb, 25% protein and 70% fat right?
-
In a word, No. I mean there are ways, but MFP does not currently do a great job of supporting them, and to my recollection, they have been proposed by users for years. However, you can mitigate this by checking the nutrition details yourself. I often calculate the sum of calories from carbs, protein and fat and check that…

Wake up to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsSC2vx7zFQ or this: https://youtu.be/yX39J_YyKbs In addition to that, what works for me is planning a workout time which limits distractions (like before everybody else wakes up). Like anything, you have to work on making it routine, and in my experience, it gets harder as…

ok, I somehow missed the whole first page. Lot of good information in there. I've looked at watts in the past as well, but never pursued looking into the formula. So, to reiterate and check what I have learned, the basic idea is that if the exercise is non-weight bearing, then weight should not enter into the equation for…

I think there are also some apps that use a rolling average to help lessen the effect of weight fluctuations. I forgot the name. I'm sure someone here will know what I'm talking about.
-
You guys are the ones who keep bringing it up. I said in my reply to you: If they had chosen to set the limit in the "Overweight" range, I think they would have gotten it wrong a significant number of times...if it was used as the only indicator.
-
Ok, but what is the margin of error? Do you know of any alternative methods are there to estimate this activity? As far as I am concerned, I take most estimates that we use for the CICO equation as ball park numbers.

I think it's accurate for males...well except for that fact that they don't designate a specific weight as ideal (as someone said earlier). 118 for a 5'2" male would be right in the middle of healthy.
-
Actually, we are talking about a single individual wanting to adopt, but I concede that the degree to which they have set the limit adequately compensates for the limits of BMI as applied to an individual.
-
They probably referred him here so that everybody can tell him how fasting is useless.
-
It also mentions increased leptins. Which may have contributed to the suppressed ghrelin, or it could be a separate thing altogether.
-
This study might be pertinent to the discussion. It's findings may suggest that ketosis alters hormones which affect appetite.
-
Fair enough, I can dig it.
-
My understanding is that BMI was designed to be used as an indicator of current body mass for populations.
-
I think that is my point. It seems to be being used as such, or did I read that wrong?
-
It was a general statement, not related to a specific case. I think body composition is often assumed based on BMI, but BMI by itself is, in my opinion as a lay person, limited in its ability to indicate overall individual health.
-
I personally have serious doubts as to the usefulness of BMI as a single indicator towards a person's overall health.
-
I say that as long as they are upfront about it and the employee agrees to the terms, I see no problem with it.

I can't edit my post for some reason, but based on the MET value for "bicycling, stationary, 201-270 watts, very vigorous effort" (14 METs) it seems totally doable. The MET value is based off of the compendium of physical activities which was/is a study conducted by a number of Universities. I made a calculator a little…
-
I think it is very possible. I'll see if I can find the MET value it would require. It would require you to exercise at an intensity of 9.5 METs the entire time...which isn't totally crazy.

This is a good question. I do think that there is a distinction which could be made between "hunger" and an "urge to eat". In my own personal experience, I found that while I was on the LCHF diet, in addition to be satiated, I no longer had the constant urge to eat that I have experienced most of my life and again…

Hello. I wrote a calculator in a google spreadsheet that has a couple of activities for climbing hills. It was based off of MET values derived from college research projects. Here is a link to the post in which I discuss in more detail where I got the information from:…

I haven't noticed it in any gym I have frequented. In fact, the only place that I would say nurtures a somewhat hostile atmosphere is Planet Fitness (e.g. banning large water containers, lunk alarm, etc.), but I understand that's their way of enticing new gym-goers.

Pros - Keto diets tend to help people who have difficulty moderating. (eg. can't just have one chip/donut) - a lot of flavorful options are on the table - You typically do not have to focus on calorie counting as the a caloric deficit often occurs naturally - Reduced cravings - The state of ketosis often result in a…

People have argued that point in the past...I haven't read the whole thread here. While I don't doubt that people have said "Sugar is the devil" or that it is "just like cocaine and heroine" I think the debate will better served if the hyperbolic outliers are ignored. Saying "I am addicted to sugar" is not the same thing…
-
I have interacted with a few hundred who abstained from sugar as their primary means of losing weight with much success in the long term. Sugar is not an addictive substance yet people can become addicted to eating it. People can also become addicted to other substances or combinations such as salt and fat yet have no…

The idea that certain techniques do not work...while they are clearly working for some. Also, the idea that because a certain technique works for some it will work for all. Another issue which is not necessarily a myth is that while the science of a certain technique may be sound, the application of that technique may not…

Laws prevent one from earning a living without paying taxes to the governement. What you put forth as a freedom to choose not to accumulate wealth is actually an ultimatum. If you want to accumulate wealth, you must pay taxes. Analogy: I have a gun pointed in your direction. If you want to live, give me your wealth. In…
