Would anybody be interested in starting a pseudo-group which defines abstinence as using MFP?
To clarify, abstinence would be defined as accounting for everything you've eaten in Myfitnesspal. There would be no need to open your diary or anything like that. I'm just kicking around the idea.

How do you know if you're insulin resistant?
Just curious. Didn't see anything with this specific focus in the launching pad.

Exercise calculator - Calories burned
I've seen a lot of posts here on MFP expressing doubt about the calculations MFP uses for exercise. So I made this calculator based on the Compendium of Physical Activities (https://sites.google.com/site/compendiumofphysicalactivities/Activity-Categories). This was research done in part by ASU and the National Cancer…

CrossFit
Since it's popping up in another thread and we surprisingly don't have a CrossFit thread in this section yet, I figured I'd start one so people could get their crossfit bashing/promoting jollies in. Do you love or hate crossfit? Why? Try not to be *kittens*.

Searching this group
I figured out how to use google to search other groups, but not this one. Anybody know why that is?

Daily Meeting Threads
For anybody interested, we have started daily meeting threads in the ODAT private group click here to gain access. In this thread, all are encouraged to share their experience, strength and hope. We ask that you try to keep your share on the topic of the reading and what it means to you. You can share multiple times, but…

I'm surprised there's not a lot more people in here.
It seems like boxing would hold a high interest.

RIP Kimbo
Learned of Kimbo's passing late last night. I'll never forget watching his first video on youtube. Crazy.

Panic attacks
Have any of you experienced panic attacks since starting LCHF? I have recently had an issue with this and I am trying to pinpoint possible causes. Is this a known side effect? I have never had any issues with panic attacks before. I don't find myself as being under a tremendous amount of stress, but there are definitely…

Hello, somd peeps.
I notice that this group has been dormant since 2012. There are several southern Maryland groups which are all pretty dormant. Maybe we can all congregate in one. The following one, http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/6269-southern-maryland-charles-calvert-and-st-marys-counties, has been active the most recently and…

LCHF vs Whole 30 challenge
I thought some of you guys might be interested in this. A friend and I challenged each other on diets for 30 days starting Feb 1. He did whole 30 and I did LCHF. I know they both can be LCHF, but I wasn't willing to forgo processed foods like was required for whole 30 (I love monosodium glutamate!). This was just a fun…

Need a quick low carb meal idea for ground beef.
Preferably tasty enough for kids. I'm ok with bland, but they are not. No other ingredients are off the table. The meal just has to be relatively low in carbs...like less than 50/serving. TIA

Do HRMs on activity trackers really increase accuracy of CO estimates?
I have read (but I don't have any links at the moment) that heart rate monitors are not a good tool to determine energy expenditure for people. My question is whether or not they are any better than activity trackers which do not have HRMs. I am very skeptical about HRMs' accuracy in general.

How low do you go on your squats?
Just wondering. I usually get pretty close to bottoming out. It's just something I've always done since starting CrossFit. I remember listening to two coaches argue about whether or not I was going too low. They never reached an agreement either way, and I was in the midst of WOD death, so I didn't care. So I figured I…

Theory on maintenance intake
So I was thinking about this over the weekend: If our bodies are adjusted to using fat as the primary fuel source, and we get some of that fuel from our stored reserves, it stands to reason that we may need to increase our fat intake as we get closer to our goal weight. Now, the first hole in my theory that crossed my mind…

Man, the LC hate is serious
I haven't been on there in a while, but the people are just ripping this person apart for mentioning low carb...crazy. Has it always been this bad?

LowER carb expectations/tips
My wife is thinking about doing lowER carb and wants to start tomorrow. She's probably looking at doing 100-120g per day. Is there anybody in the group that has done this type of plan the entire time? What type of weightloss is typical for such a plan? Any tips I can pass along? TIA, Moe

"trashy" fats
I saw someone in another group mention avoiding trasy fats in relation to a high fat diet. I do not currently discriminate. Should I be? I just wanted to get your guys' opinions.

Fitbit group
For those with fitbits, there is a southern Maryland fitbit group on fitbit's community.

Bucca Di Beppo
Anybody have any low carb favorites? From what I can see, there are no official nutritional facts from Bucca. I'm leaning towards the Chicken Saltimbocca which is chicken "Topped with prosciutto and sage, served with artichoke hearts, lemon, capers and lemon butter sauce".

Starting LCHF, what are the go-to resources?
Hi, I'm starting today. I have browsed the launching pad and read a lot of the suggested threads. I have also garnered information from other general thread within this group, but I haven't found that one starting point which sums up the theories associated with LCHF (if one exists). I have done low carb and lower carb in…

Looking for someone to turn over food on MFP.
Hello, I have been kind of casually involved with OA for a while through online and phone meetings. There isn't a face-to-face meeting in my area. I've never turned my food over to anybody, but I would like to start doing so. I would prefer to use myfitnesspal and thought this group would be a good place to start. Anybody…

Worst part about losing weight
I know we all usually try to stay positive, but I was wondering what if any bad parts about losing weight are for you guys. For me, it would be push ups. They used to be so much easier. I used to go till my stomach hit the ground. Now, that doesn't happen until my chest is pretty much on the ground. So it makes each one a…

Are there side effects of too much protein?
Hello. I am currently on a low carb diet. I also work out a lot (6 days/week) doing a mix of strength and aerobic exercise. I've noticed that I have exceeded my mfp "goal" a lot. I don't really worry about that too much, but it made me think about where the excess is going, if there is any. My goals are currently set at…

Sit-ups for Google+
Sit-ups for +1s. A friend and I were arguing about the popularity of Google+. We came up with this experiment. For the next 24 hours, I will do one sit up for every +1 I receive on this post. I'll video and post it on youtube. My friend says I will get no more than 50 +1s I say al least 100. So, click away!…
