@Chris, Sandie is right, it's also helpful to use the tools we already have. Get in the habit of logging your foods and prep meals ahead of time. All of us have tried to eyeball foods, but we cannot tweak what we don't track. Good job asking your doctor for help and I'm wishing you much success. 🤗

It helps to stay connected with your friends on MFP. Interact with people, reply when they post on your wall. Try to stay connected and develop friendships. There are several people here who will cheer you on, but its vital to participate.

Do meal preparations. Plan out your meals on MFP and eat every 3 to 4 hours. Make exercise a regular part of your life. Dieting is for the body, but exercise is for the mind. Best wishes.
