  • I went by what the website told me (I was on sparkpeople at the time) and increased my calories gradually until I was eating at my "maintenance" level. I lowered my intake once the pounds started creeping back, but I didn't want to go back to eating that little every day. I agree though, from everything I've read over the…
  • I lost weight at 1200-1400 cal/day, but as soon as I started maintenance eating, all of it flew back on. Right now I'm eating 2000 cal/day and exercising, and I'm losing weight and feeling better than before. I'm 35, 5'1" and 212 lb with a bad back and hip, and i swim about 5-10 hours a week and do some lifting with pretty…

  • i recently began using the site after almost a year of forgetting it. i'm looking to lose weight and get healthier/fitter. i don't believe in going under 1200 calories a day. right now i'm just getting back into the hang of logging everything, but i will aim for 1800 calories a day no matter what exercise i do (and will…
  • I second this. Look the book up - I believe you can get the ebook on amazon for a low price. It's kind of a short, conversational, low-pressure kind of book that helps you get into the right mindset to quit before you actually put the cigarettes down. My transition wasn't quite as pain-free as above, but what a big…
  • Yeah, I agree with first poster pretty much--have a spoonful of peanut butter and call it a night. Protein and healthy fats, good for ya.
  • YES! I'm careful about sodium and watchful for high fructose corn syrup, or lots of sugar in low fat items, and it's hidden in the weirdest places sometimes. I generally just skim for calories, sodium, sugars and protein
  • Bumping so I can see what other suggestions people have; I'm about to be broke, too. I do second the beans and rice suggestions, though. You can get BIG ol' bags of beans or rice for pretty cheap. Grab a packet of Taco Bell sauce and it's even more delicious. 3-5 pound bags of apples, oranges or potatoes can go a long way,…

  • I like my weird square little hands and the olive-green color of my eyes :)
  • Bananas, sadly. Yeah, they've got a lot of potassium, but they've also got lots of carbs and sugar. If I eat one, I eat only half of one. I can get potassium from other sources, anyway: spinach, tomatoes, milk, cheese, other fruits & veggies with less sugar. Bananas make the roof of my mouth itch, anyway, lol.
  • I like the Pure Protein ones too, only my favorite are the Chocolate Deluxe. Low fat, low sodium, low sugar, decent calories as far as protein bars go, and 20 grams protein. I love those suckers.
  • Well, for example, my BMR is about 1750, and I exercise a lot. So I try to eat back some of the exercise calories, too. Since I've been buying a lot less junk food, it's weird balance of getting enough calories/so much volume of food that you just can't eat any more. I've actually found that on my rest days, it's really…
  • Someone posted this yesterday: http://healthysexyhappy.tumblr.com/moveyourassnow
  • My shorts fell off :D
  • They're also not paid for wear and tear that all the extra miles puts on their car. I mean, sure, some pizza places give them mileage pay, but that's for gas, and it barely covers it these days (probably doesn't, if the owner is a cheapskate who won't up the per-delivery pay as much as it needs to go.) And, like someone…
  • 20 pounds is amazing, and you should be proud you've lost that much :) Maybe it's the micromanaging that's making you nuts. Perhaps you could go a few days or a week without actually logging; just eat healthy foods (you've already learned healthy vs unhealthy) in healthy portions (which you've already learned my weighing…
  • I don't have any, but I'm happy for people who are happy with theirs :glasses: It's an OCD thing--there are lots of things I can't see on skin. Seeing tattoos sometimes actually makes me nauseated XD
  • I cut it in little pieces, cook it with some pepper and chili powder, then use whole grain tortillas, spinach and tomatoes to make chicken soft tacos. If I have the calories for it, I add cheese, sour cream and salsa :)
  • Feel free to add me! I've got almost 100 pounds to lose :)
  • I'm in for 5500 :) Mon: 1417 calories burned--swimming and rowing machine Tues: calories burned (how they were burned) Wed: calories burned (how they were burned) Thur: calories burned (how they were burned) Fri: calories burned (how they were burned) Sat: calories burned (how they were burned) Sun: calories burned (how…
  • Well, it depends on what issues you have. I have borderline high blood pressure, so I try to keep mine below 1500 (and usually fail, but it's still a lot less than it used to be XD). If you have edema, lowering your sodium can sometimes help with that, too. I track my potassium because of the high bp too--potassium can…
  • It could be that he sometimes has had fantasies of being a stripper (haven't we all? or maybe just some of us, lol) and seeing the movie, he can kind of live vicariously through the characters. I wouldn't worry too much. When you get home, maybe you can tell him to strip for you ;D
  • Ok, thanks! Another question that I forgot to include in my original post: I've been doing this for a little over two weeks, and on average having very low net calories. Some days I get them up to 1000, but it's hard. I've seen people talk about resets--should I do one of those, or am I ok, since it hasn't been very long?
  • Could someone help me out with my fitness level? I had it set originally to moderate, but I think I was underestimating how much I exercise. So, I'm 5'2", 217, female, and I generally exercise 1.5 to 3 hours a day, and burn 5000-8000 cal per week (so far, haven't been doing this very long.) I do about 1-3 hours of light…

  • That sounds about right, from what I've read people say, but I'm no expert! I'd find the Eat More Weigh Less group and ask them the question; I think something like that is the way they work?
