  • omg nooo ankle weights are a horrible horrible idea for running OR walking! they cause you to strike your feet completely unnatural and can cause injuries! they arent worth the risk... definitely start adding distance and hills!
  • I have lost 110 and kept it completely off down to the ounce until the last 2 months- stress eating/ binging at 3 AM caused me to gain somewhere between 10-15 lbs. I don't know the exact number because i stopped weighing myself a few months ago when i got way too obsessed with it. I just know that my pants are not…
  • This is SUCH a good topic to discuss! I grew up with an active dad, always playing basketball or lifting weights and then eventually coaching my brothers baseball team... he was always in pretty good shape, and definitely LOVED to chow down (i get my appetite from him.. i can eat more than him and hes got 110 pounds on…
  • It differs greatly depending on your height and weight and effort. I am 5'7 and weigh about 145 pounds, using my heart rate monitor and switching between 5 lb and 8 lb weights for different moves and def giving my all, I burn about 155 calories for the 24 mins. I don't do the cool down because I run right after!
  • besides the chips that come out, mexican is the easiest cuisine to make healthy! i get a grilled chicken salad with tons of veggies, guacamole and salsa. Sometimes i'll order fajitas, but i never eat the tortillas.
  • SO adorable!! I love grandparents and older people, especially the active ones! They remind me that fitness is an essential part to your WHOLE life! :)
  • my newest weird food combo is a sweet potato, tuna, goat cheese & mustard.. sounds gross, but i cant describe how good and well the flavors and textures work together! i also love egg whites, chickpeas, feta & mustard together. mustard is the best condiment ever with so little calories!
  • What you eat is at least 90% of the equation. I have lost 110 pounds and it took me a year. I changed my way of eating completely (but slowly) and the only exercise I did for that year was walk.. I walked a LOT, anywhere from 3 miles to 13 miles a day! But I was extremely strict and careful as to what I ate. Now a year…
  • This was so inspirational! You're so right, 10 pounds is AMAZING! Tackling smaller goals like 10 pounds at a time is so much more manageable than the larger numbers. Congrats girl, you're doing amazing :)
  • Without seeing your food diary i cant see what youre eating that you could improve on/switch up.. but what worked for me with the last 5-10 lbs was starting to finally strength train on a regular basis. i had been running/walking a ton for a year and got thin but wasnt losing or toning anymore, so i started Jilian Michaels…
  • my oatmeal for breakfast is right around 400 and i have 1/4 cup rolled oats, 1/4 cup wheat bran, either 3 egg whites OR 1/2 scoop protein powder, 1/2 tablespoon chia seeds or flax, tons of cinnamon and a little unsweetened almond milk and water. Then I add a small banana and a tablespoon of natural peanut butter. I have…
  • I was wondering the same thing! I was told no because it's really only supposed to be used when we're excercising. You would want something like a BodyBugg or Fitbit to wear all day and track your calories used all day. I was going back and forth between a HRM and one of those, but the bodybugg is bulky to wear on your arm…
  • Restricting carbs has to be the worst idea ever for LONG term weight loss. I didn't lose 110 pounds restricting carbs, I lost it by eating the RIGHT carbs. Oatmeal, whole grain bread, fruits, vegetables. No white bread or pasta or rice (not a fan of pasta or rice anyways) and i don't have much of a sugar/candy tooth. Of…
  • i was watching that last night and thought the same thing. SO unhealthy and while she might be able to lose 1 pound a day for a couple of weeks, she would HAVE to plateau before 3 months. I hate MTV! It took me well over a year to lose 100 pounds and because of that ive been able to keep it off!
  • 200 calories is so low for breakfast... breakfast should ideally be your largest meal of the day, and the most carb-heavy to fuel you throughout the day. Don't buy packets of oatmeal because they are super processed and sugar filled. You can really make oatmeal so delicious, as I do every morning! Buy the big canister of…
  • Yayyy I love when people start 30 Day Shred! I started it in June, did it for about 2 1/2 weeks (not every single day) and got SO toned in just that short period of time! My advice is that the first 3 days hurt sooo bad, but don't give up! Modify it the way you need, but still push yourself. Level 2 is actually FUN! I…
  • Honestly, concentrate on maintaining the next week during your stressful time instead of losing. There is no reason to turn to unhealthy foods during a stressful time. You can eat more, just make it healthy. Squeeze in 25 minutes of a high intensity workout or just go for a walk. There's a difference between not losing for…
  • I'm in! I've been eating at least 1800-1900 with some days up to 2300 to maintain! I am just starting to get into lifting, so i wanted to make the shift to eating more and being comfortable with it first! a little bloated, but i wasnt able to run as much as i do when i hurt my knee! i LOVE this group! its too conflicting…
  • hahahha yep i totally am! i'm a total foodie nerd but i use amazon. I have an amazon prime account so i get free 2 day shipping and most of their food items are sold in bulk and you get great deals! i have 2 jars of PB2 on its way to try!
  • Awesome! I'm in!! <a href="http://www.TickerFactory.com/exercise/wxuGp6g/"> <img border="0" src="http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/wxuGp6g/exercise.png"></a>
  • CONGRATS!!! Such an amazing feeling! :)
  • It's hard to accept at first, but the only thing you can do is move on. What is the use of destroying yourself today when it's a new day and the weekend is behind you? I struggled with this a lot but decided what worked best for me was to work out a lot and eat great 6 days per week, then have 1 day where I can let go.…
  • My breakfast was SO good! I had a delicious carb-y bowl full of canned organic pumpkin, sugar free pancake syrup, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, Organic honey nut cereal and natural peanut butter. I added some more cereal to the bottom and a little vanilla almond milk to make sure there was no pumpkin left in that bowl ;) I…
  • I just bought my 1st bag at Whole Foods the other night after reading endlessly about them in the healthy food blog world... I sprinkled a teaspoon over my greek yogurt/ pumpkin concoction, and you don't taste them at all! They add a nice little tiny crunch to a few bites, but overall no taste! I will try a whole…
  • CEREAL!!!!!!! i have SUCH an addiction to cereal, and honestly id rather be addicted to cereal than anything greasy/ super sugary. i only buy really healthy cereals, but my boyfriend always has Trader Joes or Whole Foods version of honey nut cheerios... they are still made with healthy ingredients, but a bit higher in…
  • i eat between 4-8 egg whites per day! as long as youre using the natural egg white, not that processed crap you can buy in the little pint thing! i cant believe people eat FAKE eggs! they are even more expensive than just buying a dozen and cracking them yourself!
  • I rarely use my protein powder, and when i do its only 1/2 a scoop. im not vegan or veggie, but i eat between 100-140 grams of protein per day. I eat a lot of egg whites, natural peanut butter, almonds, green vegetables, fish, and a small amount comes from whole grains. I have 1 piece of bread or a sandwich thin per day,…
  • It took me about 1 year and 3-ish months to officially lose 100 pounds, and another 8 months to lose the last 10 i have lost. I had an extremely easy time losing the weight, no joke, because I had no set date or goal date in mind. In fact, I didnt even have a goal weight! I just knew I needed to lose some, and 25 pounds…
  • swimming is something i would love to get more into, but its just really hard with my schedule. i have access to a pool only at nights, but am only available 1 night a week to do it. thats why running has become so important because i can do it every morning before my crazy day. im a terrible swimmer but love being in the…
  • First let me say its great that you are committed to staying healthy even though you will have a schedule change! This really shows dedication and I love that :) In my 2 years of weight loss/maintanence, I have worked up to 3 jobs at once and am a full-time student. It comes down to just MAKING the time. I work out more…
