I am 52 and started this journey on Jan 6, 2012 and have lost 61 lbs so far. I was diabetic and had to take 2 stomach shots a day, 2 cholesterol pills a day and 2 blood pressure medications. I now only take a 1/2 of a blood pressure pill a day. Hopefully, I won't have to take any medication once I lose the other 39 lbs…

The best one I got was a backhanded compliment where the person said that losing weight was good for me because it all of sudden made me much more fashionable in my choice of clothes!!! WTF!!! I was wearing the same old clothes I had grown out of in the first place and had been able to just get back into!!! LOL!!!

It was about 25 lbs but I'm 5'10" so it also works the other way too. I have to gain about 20-25 lbs before people notice!!!

I'm 5'10" and my goal weight is 160-165. I'd like to get down to 135 like I was in my 20's but I think that's unrealistic now that I'm in my 50's. At 160 lbs, I will be under 25% body fat and I think that I'd be able to maintain that weight.

Definitely weigh and measure your food. Eyeballing it can make you go over your calories. Personally, I had about 3 weeks where I wasn't really losing weight and I upped my calories about 300 a day and it kick started be to losing weight. I have mine set to lose about 1 1/2 lbs a week and I have averaged about that since the first of the year. I do eat my exercise calories back and I usually am not hungry. I do eat 6 times a day, so I really don't have a chance to feel hungry. I'm eating about 1500 to 1800 calories a day.

I like to put sugar free jam like strawberry or apricot on it. I'm big into the salty and the sweet combination.

I am diabetic and also take shots, so I can relate. I feel this is a great site to keep track of your calories. I lost 80 lbs about 26 years ago and counted calories then too but didn't have anything like this and it was very difficult keeping track. There's no assigned weigh in day. I do mine weekly. I am in the 100 lbs to lose group and they all report on Fridays. I do love the accountability. It really helps when you have a group that's behind you!!!
