We're just not expecting more than grunts from our northern cousins, so it catches us by surprise sometimes!

Ohhhh... Edmontonian humour - didn't see it at first ;)

Huh?

Yes and no. You can't go by daily weight fluctuations. All kinds of things can skew your daily weight (eating lots of salty food for example makes you retain water). You have to look at a longer average, like weekly. Also, being due for your period can also cause you to retain water

On a more practical note - claim the dishwasher damage on your household insurance.

She clearly stated that the recipe wasn't from MFP. Her point is that she found a recipe somewhere else that claimed to have X calories per serving, but after calculating it on MFP the reality is that it's much more calorific per serving.

Also... Applebees now has a section on their menu for 550 calorie or less items... There's been some controversy because sometimes the kitchen staff mix up the orders, but they do have the options... http://www.applebeescanada.com/Menu_Under550.aspx

Why on earth did you eat the Mozza Sticks?! Talk about empty calories...

Sugar is sugar, regardless of where you get it from. At least when it comes packaged in a fruit, you are getting other vital nutrients with it, whereas in a chocolate bar you're getting nothing of any real nutritional value.

Yeah, I've been scratching my head over this one too. Only good reason I can come up with is detoxing

That's nuts... Just looking around at some other spices and they aren't much better... Cumin - 2g Turmeric -1.5g Cayenne Pepper - 1.5g

* You have a daily calorie goal of 550 calories... * You're 5'6, you weigh 117lbs, and want to lose 30 more?! * You have an acute psychological problem that you need to have addressed before you kill yourself

Weird... your boyfriend gave you "Motivation and Support" by trying to keep you on the straight and narrow, and you're upset about it?

Those calcs work out close for me at 1000 cals a day (2 lb/week loss). MFP says to eat 1200 a day, those calcs say 1172. Near enough for me. 181 lbs RMR 1810 DAB 362 DCR 2172 1lb/week loss 1672 cals/day 2lb/week loss 1172 cals/day

Did some rock climbing out in Railay in Thailand a few years ago - absolutely loved it (even though climbing in 35c temperatures is brutal). Have been meaning to get into it again - thanks for the reminder!

Prunes. A lot of prunes. And interval cardio training, although December has been a bit of a fail for that.

I would rather err on the side of conservatism. Over estimate calories that go into your mouth Under estimate calories you sweat out of your pores. If you do anything other than that, the only person you're cheating is *you*.

Step 1: Lose the excess fat Step 2: Once you have a blank(ish) canvas, gain muscle mass And "blah blah" to those that say "gaining muscle burns more fat!". Just doesn't work logically for me. A lot of the practices involved in muscle gain are counter-productive to the practices of weight loss. Do one, when happy, do the…

If you're as constantly and insatiably thirsty as you describe, I would consider asking your doctor for a glucose tolerance test to check for pancreatic function (diabetes)

The "don't eat after a certain time" thing is a fallacy.

Look up "Prison Workouts" on Google. Workouts designed to be done with no equipment, in limited spaces. Some are better than others, so browse around until you find one that works for you.

I could certainly give them a try - my concern is if they are full of hydrogenated oil. I don't think people in this thread realise that the biggest ingredient in their creamers (coffee mate etc) is HYDROGENATED OIL, also known as TRANS FATS!

I've always been of the opinion that sugar is sugar, irrespective of where you attain it from. If you're going to get sugars from somewhere it may as well come pre-packaged with fibre and vitamins, as it does in fruit, than from a chocolate bar.

I'm the same way - I'd put a ridiculous amount of creamer in my coffee. Then I realised that the largest ingredient in creamers is hydrogenated oil... that's really bad mojo. I just forced myself to start drinking black unsweetened coffee. It was brutal to begin with. I'd maybe drink 1/3 before ditching it. But over time,…

* If poor people, in poorer neighbourhoods, were charged more for their fast food - they would still buy fast food. They're not suddenly going to decide to eat grilled chicken and salad. The net outcome would be the poorer people, becoming poorer. The issue is one of education, not accessibility or pricing. * Higher tax…

Add each ingredient individually...?! I make all kinds of different sandwiches, and each time I will do the following: add 2 slices of the closest bread I can find add a tsp of the butter/spread I used add 1/3 cup some greens (lettuce etc) etc etc

Count everything, broccoli and spinach included. Why wouldn't you? They hardly make a difference to your totals, but it's good to keep track of how many vitamins and minerals you're getting (in the case of spinach, iron)
