  • "Beef Martini" sounds both disgusting, and like a euphemism!

  • Exercise definitely helps me, especially as my number one trigger is stress and anxiety, which is definitely reduced by exercising. Contact me if you need help or ideas! *support!*
  • How is it going for you so far? I find that making all my low FODMAP meals also very small (lots of meals a day, but small portions) and making sure I pay attention to fiber (more soluble fiber than insoluble) really helps. Let me know if you need meal ideas!
  • I am definitely finding some success on the low FODMAPs diet, in combination with drugs (currently taking pentasa 4 g/day and trying to get off of Entocort, currently at 3 mg/day) as well with different therapies such as acupunture, stretching class, psychologist for anxiety, and other relaxation and health related stuff.…
  • Totally true - sometimes you have to INCREASE your calories to lose weight, because it helps your body get out of conservation mode, and into healthy, active, lose weight mode! I am eating WAY more (healthy) food now than I was before, 6 meals a day, MUCH more fat, protien and carbs overall. Just end up eating less at…
  • According to the registered dietician who had me start back at MFP and recording my food, the following things are VERY important to keep in mind when on MFP: 1. MFP is consistently too low. She said to add about 200 calories manually (so I am at about 1400 calories, not 1200) 2. The number for fat, protien, carbs are…
  • I definitely have this question in my head. I was going to start yoga-type classes, and maybe a dance class. This should probably be low impact enough that I could continue it while TTC or pregnant, right?
  • I went to a dietician for help starting the Low Fodmap diet (I am also vegetarian, so yikes!) and it was SUPER helpful. She gave me a detailed list, as well as made a meal plan for me. However, I mostly now eat the exact same thing (with taste, vegetable, and cooking style variates, but mostly the same) each day. If you…
  • Not vegan, but I have been adding tons of chia and hemp seeds to pretty much every meal, on the advice of my dietician. I never realized how much protein they add!!

  • I'm a vegetarian, so you could add meat to update this, but my lunches are: - 3/4 cup quinoa - 1 cup roast vegetables (peppers, carrots, celery, yam, parsnip, or other veggies from the 'ok' list) or 2 cups raw veggies (spinach, peppers, cucumber) - 1/4 package tofu, or a hard boiled egg - 1 tbsp hemp hearts - 1 tbsp chia…
  • My dietician recommended Vega, as it is plant based as well as fits in with the low FODMAP, no gluten diet I have to be on. I don't think it tastes great (I just tried the chocolate) but I'm happy there is SOMETHING I can have on the run!
  • Hi there! I just started a low fodmaps diet on the advice of a registered dietician. I have microscopic colitis (an autoimmune issue where my bowels don't absorb water), and it seems like I might have IBS-D on top of that. Sad panda! So far I feel really healthy and am enjoying the low fodmaps meal plan the RD put me on,…
  • I just wanted to say that I am so proud of you - 25 pounds is an amazing accomplishment, and you are doing it in such a healthy way. I have lost and gained and lost and gained weight throughout my life, and now I've talked a registered dietician, I'm eating more, and I'm losing weight slower, and with 100% emphasis on…
  • Good job everyone! I love seeing how healthy and happy people look in their 'after' shots!
  • Congrats on your success! It sounds like the common denominator with most the success stories I read is consistent tracking. On an unrelated note, I really like your hair in the second picture - lookin' good!
  • AND THANK GOODNESS FOR THAT! I have actually lost 5 pounds recently, but I had gained weight since first making my account. So, it would post on my wall saying "Kallie has lost 2 pounds" but my marker on my tracker is at 0 ;)
  • No. The correct answer is "You look beautiful and I love you and I am proud of how hard you are working!" (best said while giving her a big hug).
  • What a wonderful question! Thank you for asking it. This is what works for me: 1. Join in. I lost 70 pounds back in high school JUST by eating whatever my parents were making while they were losing weight. As a family, we lost infinitely more than we could have on our own. Just joining in is the best support. Exercise…
  • Just a thought: I have been 170 lbs, and I have been 240 lbs. There were people at the whole range of those weights who thought I was pretty. My husband met me somewhere in the middle. One day he commented that a friend of mine had gained weight. I was horrified - "Guys notice that??" He said, "Of course. Her boobs are…
  • Every day or every other day. If I only weigh myself once a week I find that I can get really discouraged, even though it could just be a day where I had more water weight or something. My weight can fluctuate a lot if I have too much salt. I am trying to get to know my body better, and weighing every day makes me see…
  • Most of the fairs where we are have 'ethnic' food stands. You can often find healthier stuff there, though still higher in calories. Personally I would still take a kit with my own food, some fruit, veggie sticks and some yogurt in a tiny cooler or something. I don't think it is reasonable to demand that someone who is…
  • This is my favorite post yet! I can't wait to have success stories of my own to post :D
  • I have constant, chronic IBS which pretty much means I can't eat a lot of raw vegetables, romaine lettuce, NO broccoli or cabbage, not too many whole grains or high fiber foods, or anything else that irritates my stomach more than usual. Whenever I start to diet I usually go overboard and eat tons of salads and vegies,…
  • This might sound weird, but one main reason I'm losing weight is to be healthy before I start trying to make a family, so... I guess my reward is hopefully a healthy baby? And new shoes. I would definitely buy myself some new clothes and shoes ;)
  • My response to that compliment would be "You'd be nice if you weren't such a *****!"
  • We are pretty close! Age: 25 5'9" CW: 215 lbs GW: 170

  • GREAT JOB!!! I lost a lot of weight in high school and remember the joy at moving from 'plus' sized to 'regular' stores. The first thing I bought was a prom dress! Keep it up, you are doing awesome!!
  • How do you change your protien goals? I would like to do that, because I am trying to follow a more lean-for-life, body-for-life program of mainly lean protiens, vegetables, and low carbs.
  • I'm really glad no one brags about their size to me. Unless it was pride at an accomplishment, I think I'd shut that convo down pretty fast. Proud = okay, but Smug = not okay. I find that I am generally a size sixteen on top and a size fourteen on bottom... mostly. It has ranged from a size 12 to even size 22 (in dresses)…
