Totally agree. MKEGal has been spreading this misinformation forever now and it gets tiresome. Her calculations are off by about 300 calories for me. TDEE calculators work best, try those first then adjust as necessary based on results! But I haven't had to adjust much, TDEE calculators based on activity seems to work…

So what you are saying is you are at your weight goal and maintain on 1200 or less every day? That doesn't sound normal or healthy. Can you explain maybe I am misunderstanding. Congrats on your loss.

OP I did look up your TDEE and BMR. My advice would be to change your goal to .5 lb/week and eat back at least 50% exercise cals. Instead of 1200 you could eat 1450-1650 (depending on exercise) still lose weight and not be hungry and miserable.

I see your point, however ... if they have a very low TDEE they might eat at that level. But if someone is lifting weights and having a high level of activity that most body builders do, their TDEE would be much higher. Large deficits IMO would not be conducive to retaining muscle while losing fat.

The key to my success has been moderation by far. I tried low carb many times, I just don't do well with it at all. I finally gave up after many years of trying LC, concluding it wasn't for me. I found MFP, and discovered I didn't have to eliminate any foods to lose weight. Success at last! :) Made things so much easier…

You could eat 3000 cals a day to start and still lose weight rapidly then as your weight goes down taper down to 2000 calories. Why starve??? Makes no sense whatsoever. Oh, I know. I am 5'7 and when I was 160 pounds I ate around 2000 cals a day. I was moderately active though. If I sat around doing nothing I would have maintained on 1600-1700.

How is OMAD different from any other intermittent fasting? The only difference is the eating window is smaller.

Nobody said anything about only eating a bag of chips all day. Show us where someone said that. The person said for their meal they had a piece of meat, salad, veggies, potatoes and a dessert. The rowing machine is no joke. It can be an amazing workout if done properly. Be sure to learn good technique before trying.
