Repeat offender here. Have used MFP over and over for many years but never fail to sabotage myself when I start doing really well. Do thankful I have finally realized that I have always done that. It is easier to make myself quit than continue the fight to lose. I am starting with small goals to help with that this time. I…

Go to a doctor and do not exercise until you do!

I am not seeing any fruits and it seems you get most of your calories from other carbs. it could be what is triggering your hunger (just my experience). Perhaps just experiment with timing of your meals and cutting down on the carbs and increasing both protein and fiber could help with the hunger.

I try to keep it super simple. I eat when I am hungry and do not eat when i am not. Since I worked 1845 - 0715 for many many years I have different eating times than most. I am not usually that hungry in the mornings but am very hungry about 1 AM. I just let my body tell me when I need food.

One thing that will make a difference is where you are standing on the scale! Try to put a mark on your scale so you stand in the exact place each time. Also the further you lean on the scare the more different the weight will be! I do not care if my scales are the same as somewhere else as long as m I am losing the same…

You need to account for your monthly cycle as it causes weight gain, muscle swelling from the new fitness program (C25k) and the weigh you determine your calorie intake. Weighing your food is the most accurate way to measure your food. It will amaze you the difference if you are eyeballing it or using measuring spoons.…

My question is how do you determine the amount of food you are taking in? Do you weigh your foods? Do you count every last bite of food you eat? Weighing does not take but a couple extra seconds longer and is far more accurate than measuring. I agree that you need to get your TSH, T3 and T4 checked. Your meds may be off…

Thank you so much Packerjohn. I have a book of exercises that I was given to do pre and post surgery for just that. I have not learned yet who my PT will be and since I only get so many sessions a year I really want to save it

Thank you so very much. I like the idea of the weights. Not sure I could do 25 lb ones but I can sure start smaller and work my way up. I am still looking for a stationary recumbent bike. All your help is so appreciated.

I would like to know the same thing. There are times I can't stop and eat a regular meal. one I can drink as I drive or do something else would be wonderful. I just want them to be filling and not be something that stimulates hunger like carbs do.
-
Thank you both for your advice. I wish I could afford a bike or had room for it in our tiny apartment. I will look for something like a recumbent one and find a place to squeeze it in.
-
Sure, why not? Just sync the one that is the most accurate with your time and distance! You may be surprised by the difference in the two! I like to map where I walk and save them for those days you walk/hike the same route but forgot your fitbit or phone.

I did not mean to make a generalization at all. You are correct though that I did! For that I apologize. I was just looking for people with limits like ours that still have the want and need to lose weight.
-
I am so happy to see you have come to terms with it! This gives me hope for myself. I am at the beginning stages of accepting my disorder and my permanent limitations. The depression really took hold! It is getting better now slowly and I am more able to stand up again and fight for myself and my needs. As you have done I…

Wow! Wonderful! You should be so proud of your accomplishments! Do something nice for yourself and celebrate! Just do not celebrate with food!!

You are so right. I think that for a few years, the pain and depression stopped me from caring. I had lost almost everything that made me me. I had to leave my job as an ICU Rn that I loved, lost my home, my ability to hike for hours on end, many of my active friends, and most of all I lost my self esteem. I am in the…

I find what you have read very hard to believe. I am of the camp that just because you read it it is true. Everyone I know that has one has continued using theirs and has upgraded at one point or the other! I know that is true of me. Everyone I worked with has one. After 2-3 years they all still use it. I am sure you will…

Thanks Lifting4Lis I agree. I am still looking for people for support that are in my general condition

I love mine. It really motivates me to move! Best investment I ever made!

I too have 100 lbs to lose I would love to have some friends to help keep me accountable. About me: 59 years old, lost 60 lbs on here before. Love to hike and wander with my companion a 6 month old lab puppy. I have a neurological disorder that limits my exercising. I have a tendency to sabotage myself when I start losing…

Do nothing more until you see a doctor.

Thank you for looking, I have worked with my doctor and for me the exercises that work necks cause my condition to get worse. I have been to physical therapy on and off for several years as well until they gave up. My Neurologist just says to walk. I do that but with a total day of only up to 4 hours this limits me. After…

I go by what is here but try to eat less than half the calories back. I do not think anything that does not have a heart rate monitor attached can be very accurate.

Sounds interesting!

Congratulations an a job very well done! Your looking wonderful!

Set small goals maybe 10 lbs. At a time. Do not use food as a reward for weight loss. Plan something non food related like a trip somewhere, a hike to a new place, a new shirt. Make your goals reachable. Every time you meet a goal set another reachable one. I do not weigh my foods but I do measure. Weighing is a bit too…

I too try to do that. I aim for a week in advance so I know what I need for groceries and can keep on track better. I have not done this week but will be tonight. It keeps me more on plan.
-
I should add that I developed a neurological disorder that cost me my job and my fitness about 3 years ago. I am starting over now without the ability to walk or hike like I used to. I am trying to work through it though and push myself. I have a goal that may be out of reach but will do it anyway. I am walking in the…

I worked 12.5 hour night shifts either 7 on and 7 off or 4 on 1 off 3 on 6 off. What I did that worked for me (last time I was on here) was formed a hiking group. We would hike after work 3-5 miles and then go home and go to bed. On my days off I would plan longer hikes 4 - 10 miles that I would do with my group or with my…

Right now I am just using an app on my phone. Pacer Pedometer, you can download it from here. It syncs with this site and downloads your steps and calorie adjustments.
