Today I took the train and bus to work which required adding more steps to the day than when I drive. Plus it helped reduce my stress level which I'm certain will affect my eating patterns throughout the day.

Thank you everyone for the positive responses. I apologize for generating an uptick in tissue needs. This was a special experience for me and it means so much more to have so many positive responses on MFP. This is why I love this site. :)

You are my inspiration. I, too started over 500 lbs and I'm shooting for 250 lbs lost at the moment. I'm around 130 down now, so just over 1/2 way there, but I've stalled. Every time I get discouraged, I turn to MFP for support and it never fails. Stories like yours and so many others out there inspire that I am on the…

To all those requesting my before and after (during) pics I would say this: The one area I really struggle with is to see any difference in my pictures. I look at all the other before/after pics on here and I'm amazed at how good the "afters" look or how astounding the transformation is. I started out as a gummy lump and…

Sounds like we're on a very similar journey. I began at 502 and am shooting for 250-ish as well. 85 lbs is fabulous! Keep up the good work. I'm here cheering you on as well!

Happy to help motivate. I too have tried countless times (with varying levels of success). I will succeed this time. I guarantee it. :) Feel free to add as a friend if you like.

I'm always up for more support and motivation. And happy to provide some back as well.

Rowing machine puts a bunch of pressure on the wrong parts of my foot. Not to mention that I'm 6'7" tall and don't fit really well in the rowing machines. I'm going to try the hand bike, the rowing machine and maybe some swimming too. I love the advice and encouragement, thank you so much.

I'm always up for more friends. Feel free to add me.

Some of my best NSV's: 1. Eldest son joining in (without me knowing it) and losing 50 lbs on his own because "dad was an inspiration" 2. Fitting relatively comfortably behind a steering wheel again 3. Watching my kids devour healthier meals (chicken and brown rice stuffed peppers, spaghetti squash spaghetti, salads, green…

My experience can be summed up thusly: Offline=visual (in other words, people tend to base first impressions and such on visual cues). One can be "disqualified" so to speak before the personality every gets a chance to shine forth Online=cerebral (impressions come through words, pictures--not always of the person,…

Here we go... NOTE: I am not one who buys a lot of new clothes. I pretty much tuck, cinch, roll, whatever to get old clothes to fit. At least until it looks ridiculous or some package arrives via UPS that my wife ordered cuz she got tired of looking at me tucked, cinched, rolled, whatevered. LOL Goal: 250 or less (depends…

I started at 502 and just dropped below the first major milestone this week: sub-450. I'm hoping to get to 250-ish but I'm more concerned about getting healthy and being around for years to come to see my daughters get married and to spend time with any grandchildren that may come.

My 9-year old daughter read this and ran upstairs to weigh herself. So now I have a new milestone to reach. We're shooting for the point when I can say "I've lost one Jenny" LOL. Thanks all for the awesome words of support. Your replies, along with the awesome feedback at the gym has made this day amazing! MFP rocks!!!

As a former soldier myself, and a fellow 450+ lb. -er, feel free to add me if you so desire. Let's take this ride together. I"m shooting at the 250 mark, but would love to hit 230 eventually. (I'm 6'7")

I love it. The "What About Bob" mentality. "Bob, don't think about getting out of this building, just think about getting out of this office. Baby Steps!" That, and I find myself humming the song from Santa Claus is Comin' to Town: "Put one foot in front of the other...."

Wow! This is what I love about MFP. Such an outpouring of support and encouragement. Thank you all. I will take your advice to heart and bury the pictures and just focus on the road I'm on, not the one I've already traveled. I can't undo the past I can only "do" the present. Here's to a fabulous journey, with an amazing…

OK. you are my new hero. The first one I've found on here that started over the half-century mark like me. I have a goal of 250 pounds and I know it's going to be a LOOOONG journey, but seeing your success just inspires me even more. Thank you for posting these pictures and sharing with us (and me) your incredible success.…

You guys rock. Thanks for sharing. I hope to someday be able to share as well.

As fellow "over 400 pound"-er, I feel your pain. Weighing myself is a trial and an embarrassment. Fortunately the mail room at work has a giant scale used for weighing pallets and such. I have been able to weigh there with some modicum of privacy. I can't wait for the day when I can step on my home scale (450 lb max), the…
