  • Some people find that an occasional larger consumption day does not necessarily equate to a gain the next (remember, you need to over do it by 3500 above TDEE to even gain a real lb) - water retention is real but usually temporary. But don't continue the trend and agree - look over the week and not just the day.
  • I found the BMF to be extremely accurate - if you can swing the cost plus the website - well worth it in my opinion. The resting rate on the BMF compared to a lab tested rate extended over 24 hours was within 30 calories. Pretty accurate IMO.
  • Not by any stretch of the imagination (at least for me). F2F website - KM technique lists my BMR as 2167. I paid and had it tested at a university and actual at test result is 2706. That puts the KM off by 20%. So if you are a believer that eating below your BMR is a guaranteed magical stall out (I do not subscribe to this…
  • Wow - so many things that others have already said - but I will add: 1 - eating correctly is not cheap (neither is poor health) - but it is also more satisfying - but less convenient (dump the fast foods and convenience foods. Tastes better than convenience foods too. 2 - shopping at Whole Foods can be an adventure - we…
  • just do a "fast add" activity of your actual burn rate as stated on the BodyBugg or BMF. Then the deficit will remain and you will get more calories that you can eat for that day.
  • Actually, you can transfer your REAL calorie expenditure from activities from the bodybugg sync process to here. It will be far more accurate that the estimates you will see on the database here. Overall the process is easier for you as the bugg gets it pretty close. For example - if the bodybugg says you burned 2500…
  • exactly the same - inseam went from 32 to 30 for me too.
  • Why change up anything yet? One or two weeks in the overall scheme of things (even a couple) are not a good example of what is happening in your body. THe overall calories in vs calories out will work over time but your body goes through cycles that affect the scale in different ways. You have already lost a lot and I…
  • None of them in my case. Both were telling me a different BMR than what I was seeing on average as I was sleeping based on what my BodyMedia fit device was recording overnight while sleeping. So I went to the local university and had the test run to see my Resting Meta Rate - it was almost exact to what the BodyMedia Fit…
  • Are you sure you are measuring everything you consume - all the hidden calories, everything? I mean with a kitchen scale and measuring cups - no guesstimating. I just posted on another thread yesterday comparing BMF to the fitbit that my body media (and my wife's too) have come in a lot more accurate that I would have…
  • Banana's start out as a starch of which most is converted to sugar in the ripening process.
  • definitely add some weights and vary up the cardio (maybe less?). Cardio in a steady state seems to make your body more efficient with continued training, not less, so you have to increase the duration or intensity to achieve similar results as you previously did.
  • What I enjoy seeing in your pics and most of the other ones is the size of the smile is much larger on the "after" pics - congrats on a great job!
  • Triglycerides elevated content on blood tests would be more related to "baked goods" from what I was told by a couple Dr's. I use one egg and then 1/2 cup of something like egg beaters - gives you some of the "body" like a couple eggs but I also have no issue with just having plain old eggs anytime I want them.
  • I would not be too concerned about a daily drop (I get on the scale numerous times per day but I know what is happening so I don't let it get to me). My loss has not followed anything daily loss pattern but overall it has progressed (with some slow patches).
  • I took your lead to check out the BMF accuracy over time (I don't have a fitbit to try it against but it may be a fun test to buy one and also try it) I went back over the past 14 days - downloaded the total calories burned on the BMF (I wear it day and night) - then subtracted the calories consumed from the MFP site. Said…
  • Now THAT was a great response!
  • fast way is go to www.fat2fitradio.com/tools and do the military body fat calculator.
  • The current "gold standard" if you can get one is a DEXA scan. It will be a little more money than the BodPod or submersion test at a university. Next up would be the BodPod or submersion tests. After that Calipers in a skilled person's hands (look out, people at the gyms will all insist that they know what they are doing)…
  • Pretty much so, yes. Years back I lost just shy of 90 lbs very fast with diet restriction and running (read: Cardio only). I got to goal weight and was "skinny fat" - what the other poster called "flabby" - it was de-motivating and I had no reason to stay at that weight. Didn't care. Now - I am doing it different this…
  • occasionally a guy posts on here that worked for polar -says the one that communicates with a chest strap is more reliable. Don't know what brand or style you bought. I have a Polar with chest strap I use on occasion that I think is reasonable in its results. I use a body media fit Link all the time. I find that to be very…
  • You may have your goals set pretty aggressive too - looking at your profile with 15 lbs only to lose and looks like you are thinking 2 lbs a week.
  • Agree with all. While it may impact the scale a bit the following morning depending on when and how much you ate late the night before (just like weighing yourself right after a meal will be different) , in the overall scheme of things running a deficit will be the same end result over the long haul.
  • The problem is not cutting anything out - it is more what is your life plan for after you lose and meet your goals? If you intend to be eating that "cut out" item you are probably better to figure it out how it fits in to your day now IMO or you will likely just end up heading back where you started - weight wise. There is…
  • I would concur with the couple posts that talk about adding in some resistance training to your workout - the 30DS will add some variety for you too. If you are doing 1 hr per day of the same activity - its great you are moving around - but vary it up a bit. Anything moving will help burn calories but an hour a day of the…
