  • Wow, great work! You look amazing :)
  • Best advice I've seen. I wish I'd had someone tell me this years ago. I've had better results with doing very little cardio, with strength training instead than I ever did with doing cardio almost everyday.
  • I eat 3 meals a day, with 1 or 2 snacks depending on what they are. I tried eating more small meals instead of 3 but like you I hated it. It's worked for me so far, I've lost about 7 inches all round and I'm probably fitter than I've been in a long time.
  • Well done :) you can definitely see a difference. Your waist is so much more defined!
  • I nearly completed 30DS but it killed my knees! And to be honest, the results I saw from it weren't worth the amount it hurt my knees so I gave up on it! For others though, they have had really amazing results so maybe I would have finished it if I was seeing the same results as them. It's mostly the lunges. Since 30ds I…
  • Those are great results! How heavy are the weights you use? I want to up mine but don't know what would be a good heavy weight to start with.
  • Thanks guys. Before I used any weights, I did at least 30 minutes of cardio most days. For the last couple of months I've done barely any cardio(mostly because I haven't been able to use the place I used to do my cardio in) and I looked around to find a good routine with weights. I started out with 4lb hand weights. I know…
  • Sorry that the pictures are so big, I tried to resize them but I'm not sure what went wrong! its my first time posting pics.
  • You look amazing :) Well done. I have a similar experience as you, I used to think to lose weight I'd have to cut right back on calories and while it did work, it wasn't maintainable and as soon as I'd eat more 'normally' the weight would just come back. I've been working out with weights and eating more calories and I'm…
  • emilymeanssuccess - Ellen Page, I love her!
  • Definitely. I think it's hard because you see yourself everyday(obviously) so you don't see such a drastic change as people would if they haven't seen you for a while. So I think sometimes that's why I find myself thinking, have I actually changed that much? Even though the scale and the way clothes fit say that there has…
  • I'm 5ft 3 and my goal weigh was 119lb. Whenever I've been under this in the past I've looked too thin, just because when I lose weight it tends to come off my stomach and back so my ribs/hips start to show too much. However, this time since I've hit this weight I've been working out and using weights to get into shape.…
  • Wow, that's really inspiring :) I think a lot of people have problems losing from their arms, I know I do. I've just started with weights and your pictures have giving me a bit more determination.
  • The first places I lose are my stomach and back area. I don't know what would be next because I've always stopped before anywhere else has made a significant change. I wish I would lose off my legs first, as those are the place that bother me most.
  • I was wondering this too :) I am, __beccah
  • If you want to lose fat then you will need a calorie deficit. If you want to gain muscle then you can't do that with a calorie deficit, so really it depends whether you want to lose weight or build up muscle.
  • I think it is largely down to misinformation. Before I started using MFP I has a lot of the same misconceptions that we are talking about here. Also, I am a girl who would like to start using weights more effectively but have no idea where to start. I think there is a lot more out there on routines using tiny weights with…

  • Add me as a friend if you like :) I am looking to lose inches and get into shape rather than see a big difference on the scale.
  • I've finished :) I haven't actually lost any weight, which is strange! But, in the first couple of weeks I ended up putting on weight and I've lost that and gone back to my original weight, so I guess something good is happening. I only measured 3 places, my waist, my hips and my thighs. I wish I'd measured a couple of…
  • You look great! :) What exercises have you been doing? Your legs look amazing
  • I've started doing 30 minutes extra of cardio so I'll probably keep that up or increase it. I was thinking of still doing the shred for now, maybe just not everyday. I think I'm gonna buy either ripped in 30 or no more trouble zones and replace the shred with that. Even if I end up not getting great results from the shred,…
  • Yeah it's the same workout everyday for level 1 and then the same everday for level 2 etc.... It's not tedious though, it's fun to see if you find the workout easier towards the ends of each level.
  • I've nearly finished level 2 of the shred now and I have to say it is worth it. I still can't do 'real' push-ups but don't let that put you off. I really struggled with it all on the first couple of days but by the last few days of level 1 I could see a real change in how well I could get through the cardio and weights.
  • Wow you look great! What has been your exercise routine?
  • I've lost count, ha! I think I am on day 6 or 7 but I'm not too sure. I'll just move on to level 3 when the majority of other people do. I'm not really enjoying level 2, I don't know why but I hope level 3 is more enjoyable even if it is a ton harder.
  • I haven't bought anything recently, but I have a pair of shorts that I wore a lot over summer when I was on holiday and even though they fit me they were a little tight around the thigh/bum area. So, when we finish these 30 days I'm hoping they will fit me a little better and that I can keep in good shape to wear them on…

  • I'm not sure exactly but I've read in a few places that its good for your digestive system. Apparently its not too great to drink hot water straight from the tap though, just boiled in a kettle because of the bacteria in a water tank
  • As far as I know there are no down sides to drinking hot water, and I've read that it can be good for you (although I'm not too sure why)
  • Wow that's a significant change! Your stomach looks awesome Can I just ask what your diet has been for the week you took those pictures?
  • I can't believe we've actually been at it this long! I have hated doing the workouts this week, mostly because I've had a ton of other important things I've had to do this week. I can't wait to see everyone's before/after weight/measurements/pictures
