No more scales for me

Since coming on MFP I have relied on the scales less and less, and I feel so much better for it! I'd never measured myself before so I probably had good results sometimes but because the scales didn't move I gave up and all my hard work was wasted.
This time I measured myself and (because of a lot of advice and posts on here) I quit doing a ton of cardio and started using weights instead.
These are my results, first measurements taken January 2012 and second ones taken today.
120.6lb
waist 27
belly 31
hips 34
thighs 22
arms 11
118.6
waist 25 ( -2)
belly 29 (-2)
hips 32.5 (1.5)
thighs 21 (-1)
arms 10.5 (-0.5)
I have only lost 2lb but I've lost around 7 inches all over, and I feel a lot happier.
I can't see much of a difference in the pics but I still feel better about myself, which is a major nsv for me!

Sorry that the pictures are so big, I tried to resize them but I'm not sure what went wrong! its my first time posting pics.0

There is a very big difference!
Well done! You look great! :-)0 -
you look awesome and i can absolutely see a difference! when you say you quit doing a lot of cardio and did weights instead, what kind of program/excercises did you do and with how much weight? this is the crossroads i'm at right now... feel like i'm in a cardio rut and need to really push myself to get back to the weights more!0

I HATE MY SCALE!!!! I don't weight in very often as well, as it was way to depressing, when my body was shrinking, but my weight wasn't changing.0

You look great! Definitely no wasted work this time around. =D0

I too see an amazing difference in ur pics especially for 2 pounds lost... Great job0

There is certainly a difference - you look great!
What sort of weights were you doing?0 -
Nice work!0

Great job! I would like to know more about the more weights and less cardio as well... I do NOT see changes in my weight and this can be very frustrating.0

Very helpful info. I workout allthe time and the scale is not moving anymore but I my clothes feel looser. I will buy a tape measure TODAY.0

I totally hear ya, when I started in Jan I lost about 17lbs until March since then the scales is creeping up and down. I thought I needed a new battery or something. lol I took my measurements and was amazed. I have stayed within my caloried count, I started couch to 5K at the begining of April and I lift heavy weights now. Here are my measurments. The scales is the enemy!

Thanks guys.
Before I used any weights, I did at least 30 minutes of cardio most days. For the last couple of months I've done barely any cardio(mostly because I haven't been able to use the place I used to do my cardio in) and I looked around to find a good routine with weights.
I started out with 4lb hand weights. I know people say that you have to lift heavy, but I wanted to get into the habit of doing the routines before I spent money on heavy weights (I don't really like going to the gym, and don't really want to spend £40 a month to go to one) I've been using 6lb hand weights, and now that I know I can commit to the routines a few times a week I'm going to borrow some heavy weights from my boyfriend so I can start lifting properly.
For legs I do squats, deadlifts, straight leg dead lifts, side lunges, sumo squats and curtesy lunges(not sure if this is the proper name!)
For arms I do bicep curls, delt raises, rear delt flies, overhead tricep and tricep kickbacks. I've started doing tricep dips too.
For abs/core I do crunches and reverse crunches, planks, side planks and an exercise with a hand weight that I'm not sure what it's called.
I might have blabbed on a bit too much there . I'm not sure if this is a very good routine, and I know a lot of people say there is no point using weights unless they're heavy, but I'm happy with my results so far and I will lift heavier when I can get hold of some heavier weights.0 -

Those are great results! How heavy are the weights you use? I want to up mine but don't know what would be a good heavy weight to start with.0 -

Start with the empty olympic bar (45 lbs) and do 5 sets of 4-6 reps. Once you can do 5 reps 5 times, add 5 lbs the next time. Concentrate on form
