  • Oh and this. Praise is SUCH a powerful tool. If kid's know they're going to reap the benefits of good behaviour, they're way more likely to use it more. So do make sure you're telling him when he's being good, not just telling him off for whining. I can't believe people are actually even suggesting spanking. Totally…
  • This is good advice. Also, as a teacher, I would say it's also really important to explain what will happen in the first warning stage, i.e. 'If you don't cut that out right now, you're going to be put in time-out'. If they know exactly what will happen if they continue their bad behaviour, they'll be much less likely to…
  • I hope so, because I can think of nothing better than having a BJ for the sake of it.
  • I ran at about 6ish today (it varies, depending on how much I actually have to do during the day) and I'm ready to hit the hay already! I often am when I workout in the evenings, so maybe it's just a personal thing.
  • This. Everything you are talking about points towards an eating disorder. MFP cannot help you. You need to talk to a doctor.
  • Me personally, when I work out, I'm not paying attention to anyone else unless I'm actually working out with them. I'm too busy doing my own thing. I normally have my headphones on. Pop on some good tunes and tune everything out. Also, I don't know if you're at all interested in running outdoors, but if you are, just be…
  • This is all really good advice. I honestly can't remember where I read it, I think it might have been on a friend's MFP profile, but there's a quote that goes 'If hunger isn't the problem, food isn't the solution'. When you do feel like you want to eat a ton of 'bad' food, just remember that binging on isn't going to make…
  • It all depends entirely on how much you weigh, how much you're trying to lose and in how much time. You're still young and seemingly active though, so I would say that 1270 calories probably is too few.
  • http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_1/126.shtml On this website you can also find C25K if you're interested in it :)
  • These are all great tips! I consider myself to be a 'runner' now, but I started C25K barely being able to run two minutes without feeling like I wanted to die. It sounds like you're already further along than I was, so, as mentioned above, the first few weeks might be more of a hindrance to you, but the fifth week, where…
  • You could change the day of your weigh-in, but also remember that the tiniest thing can influence the number on the scale. How much water you've had to drink, how big your lunch was...very rarely is it that you've gained. I seriously doubt one Sunday lunch a week would make you gain 5lbs (or whatever) of anything other…
  • Why do you care what other people do or don't do? You do you, let them do them. Oh and as a trainee teacher, I get way more upset when people cheat on tests than on diets. It's probably way more detrimental in the long run too.
  • So true. I feel like so-called 'naturally thin' people do this unconsciously, i.e. they might pig out on a night out with friends, but then the next day they will eat healthy food and/or exercise. It's what I'm trying to do now I'm eating at mostly maintenance level. I don't fret if I eat an extra slice of pizza because I…
  • Here in the UK, we call it a fringe, which I think makes much more sense.
  • I think either looks great on you. You are SO PRETTY, by the way!
  • I agree with this too. If I have an Alpen cereal bar or something with my lunch, I'm way less likely to binge on chocolate. I used to go through days of eating barely anything, then completely pig out because I was starving.
  • Meh, I manage it fine. Since I've made changes to my diet and overall lifestyle, I've realised I didn't need to eat anywhere near the amount I was eating at my biggest. It's important to realise when you're actually hungry and when you really just want to eat because you're bored or sad or whatever. If hunger isn't the…
  • I'm 5'3, 125lbs and a UK size 8 (US size 4).
  • You look like a different person! That's incredible :)
  • You look lovely! There might be a lot of people on here who chastise you for saying you look bad when you weren't that big, but I'm in the same boat. My highest weight was lower than most people on these forums, but we both know where we feel comfortable and that wasn't it! Keep doing what makes you happy and healthy. Your…
  • Congrats! Don't be surprised or disheartened if your losses in subsequent weeks are smaller though. So much of your initial weight loss can be water weight. 0.5-2lbs is a healthy weekly loss for most people, depending on your weight.
  • Er...wow. Sorry disabled people aren't 'pretty' enough for you.
  • This. Seriously, just stop talking to your friends about your new, healthier lifestyle. In their minds, even if you really don't mean to, you're just antagonising them and their hostile responses are antagonising you. Talk to people who are going on the same journey about it.
  • In the future ask for those types of coffees with skimmed or soy milk in it, as it'll bring the calorie content way down. Most places will automatically do it with whole milk unless you specify otherwise. I also ask for my favourite hazelnut latte with sugar free syrup. I also only ask for a 'tall' now. I've found that…
  • Yeah, I and countless other people on this site who have reached their goal weight were being totally counter productive by eating at least some of our exercise calories back. *sigh* MFP already works out your exercise in relation to your deficit. Therefore, you're still eating at a deficit even WITH exercise calories. If…
  • If you're only eating 1200 calories, yes. Most people need a lot more than that, especially with exercise. Unless you have a heart rate monitor, be careful about eating all of them back as the numbers on machines at the gym and the one's plugged into MFP can be inaccurate. Definitely eat some of them back though.
  • That must have been the weirdest thing, to find a fully-grown lizard just sat in your car! Ugh, some people are just sick.
  • This. If I had to give my cat away for whatever reason, I would be near hysterical and would definitely take all the proper precautions and steps to make sure she was going to a good home where people were going to love her as much as I do. I would not go no Craigslist (which really is kind of the seedy underbelly of the…
  • This is just amazing!
  • It's not. I've seen the 'before' image on joke and funny image websites before and the before picture has a ton of very obvious plastic surgery, making not just the size of the face, but the size of lips etc., totally different. Also, if you click and drag the 'after' image into Google, you get a webpage where you can…
