  • Hi - I could have written exactly the same as you did. My doc's just increased my meds after a lot of pushing from me and has agreed to retest in 2/3 months - hubby says that's a result but I feel like it isn't - I'm obese and having been trying hard for 5/6 years without much success - at least I've stopped putting on…
  • hi - had a similar experience. I found it worked better when i aimed for 2 pounds pw (began to lose regularly and consistently) and didn't eat my exercise calories. Keep trying, don't give up
  • Wow - well done. keep going and you'll be buying more clothes soon

  • hi - could you find a gym buddy? - perhaps the gym could help you do that or you could persuade a friend to go with you. Apart from that, I think you'd have to decide what you want more - toned body or the alternative. Sorry to be blunt but that's what gets me to the gym - i don't want to stay like this!
  • hi - been there on the depression so I feel for you. Could you try swimming or walking? or go and sit outside (wrapped up!) to get some sunshine, I know it's not very sunny (not in England anyway) but it might be enough to up your mood. If you can limit eating to your maintenance level while you're in pain I'd take that as…
  • you said that you were mostly concentrating on treadmill - I'd suggest doing some strength training and, also, use the elliptical trainer so that you mix it up a bit and shock the system - it might be used to what you've been doing - good luck
  • I do use a HRM which is really helpful - makes sure my heart rate's up there working hard and calculates the calories for me. My BRM is 1657 but I thought you had to knock a fair bit off to lose weight and MFP recommended 1200 for 2lb pw
  • A personal trainer once told me it's approx 1 cal per 4/5 steps My usage works out at approx 400 cals per 30 min
  • I've been at it for several years - eating between 1200 and 1500 cals pd without success. On MFP for 25days and sticking at 1200 cals pd apart from when I eat back the exercise cals. I'm hitting the targets for nutrition (protein / carbs / 5aday etc).
  • Hi - I used to knit when I was younger - took it up again 12 months ago as a stress buster and found I enjoyed it. At least - I enjoy knitting, I don't enjoy the finished article. Everything I've made ends up 2 sizes too big even though I check the tension at the start. I've now started a jumper knitting up 2 sizes smaller…
  • My area won't do all the tests so I only get a partial result and the gp says it's "in range so ok" - but, weight won't shift and body temp is v.cold to touch. Having said that - did get an increase in meds 3 months ago which has helped and GP is doing some more tests on the no-weight-loss so at least he's listening. I've…
  • you'll need to log the exercise. the goal is just that - a goal. once you've logged the exercise you can eat back some of the calories!
  • blood tests are within range - don't know whether to be pleased or upset! Never mind- now to get on with counting and exercising
  • i'm eating back about half to two thirds - hoping I'll see the results over the next few weeks
  • I eat a couple of portions of fruit or a bit of protein before I run - seems to work ok
  • I've got about 75 to lose as well - joined last week and lost two - have to keep going and we'll see Friend me if you like and we'll keep an eye on each other's success
  • I wondered that - hopefully someone will know
  • Everything I was going to say has already been said but here goes anyway Is she really worth having as a friend? She's not supportive, doesn't tell you you're doing great and well done for trying............ Do you want her for a friend - if you do (WHY?), suck it up and keep it in - practice keeping your ears shut and…
  • I know just where you're coming from!!! Great news that it's beginning to shift - you'll look back in a few month's time and think "that's when it started to work" Keep going
  • Hi - new as of yesterday Always been seen as the bigger one in the family and gradually put on weight until hit 17st 10 years ago. then managed to lose 7st over 2 years - maintained for 2 years but then it started increasing despite my best efforts until i'm now not far off 17st again. I was diagnosed low thyroid 18mths…
  • hi there - I joined yesterday -
  • Could I join you all? I'm a bit older (46!), a lot heavier and a regular exerciser (really like jogging - hoping to move to running as I lose weight). Been trying for years unsuccessfully - also have low thyroid but the thyroxine hasn't been the magic pill I was hoping for. Some on-line support would be fantastic Colleen
