  • I know exactly how you feel. Tues will be 1 month for me and I lost 2.5 pounds. I was down 4 pounds last week and ecstatic. Next day up a pound for no apparent reason. Yesterday back down 1/2 pound - this morning up 1.5 My point is you are not alone ! Just have to stick it out for the long haul - I exercise 5-6 days a week…
  • Been there, done that, doesn't work !
  • You guys hit the nail on the head - get rid of the freakin' scale. I hop on there every single morning ! My little mind seems to think if I get on there BEFORE breakfast I will weigh less ! Not so muich. Ok then, one time a week - I am going to get rid of that sucker - I think in the long run I am going to be a healthier…
  • Wings and beer - I WISH ! I had crab legs and water
  • Ok, thank you -more good replies - yes my scale is digital - I'm sure I am one of the only ones who weigh daily (LOL) - I need to stop that I know. This is the BEST site ever - have passed it along to so many of my friends who are struggling with weight - some say "it's a WEB site" - I say it is a LIFE site. So many good…
  • 5 months?! Ok, I guess "patience" is the word I need to keep in my head ! I have a blood sugar issue - not bad but "on my way" so that is why I started this journey - my doctor said that even if I do not lose any weight the exercise will bring the blood sugar levels down - currently it is 120 - diabetes is 125 (is what I…
  • Calorie deficiet - I am uncertan how this works since the 1200 is what was recommended when I started. I know that when I exercise there are "extra" calories to use so I have done that - am wondering if I need to NOT use those extra calories from the exercise (because I am not sure they are accurate from other posts I've…
  • If you have a Giant Food in your area they carry Nature's Promise - I get the sea salt rice crips (in the bread aisle) measure out 1TB PB on 11 of them - much less fat etc that the crackers. 21 of these crips are only 120 cals, 3g fat, 0 trans, 15 carbs, 2g fiber, 1 sugar, and 8g protein. Sodium is 360mg..I only eat 11 of…
  • Since oyu liked the cottage cheese try it with chopped fruit for a fast and easy lunch - it is really good....my favorite is pineapple (NOT in heavy syrup) or a fresh peach, blueberies, etc
  • If you like cottage cheese it has 12g protein per 1/2cup. I eat 1 cup (24g protein) wihth either diced peaches or pineapple on it and love it. I buy the Breakstone's 2% milkfat, small curd. 1/2c is: 90 cal, 2.5g total fat, 6g carb - it is high in soldium, 400mg per 1/2c, 0 fiber and 4g sugar.
  • Looks like I'll be getting an iPad from the remarks received - I have a million books and nowhere to store them - sounds like a good solution. Thanks for all your in-put !
  • Not EVEN going to ask how your iPod ended up in the toilet! Like you, I like actually holding the books. Thanks for the response though - gave me a chuckle!
  • You could make this on the week-end if you are short on time and then heat in the microwave 2t olive oil 1 onion diced 1 clove garlic minced 2 medium potatoes cooked and cut into small pieces 1 - 10z box spinach thawed and squeexed dry 1 c FF egg substitute 2 T parsley 1/2t salt 1/2t pepper 1/4 t ground nutmeg In large…
  • Good point ! I guess I thought the first week would be the most weight loss and then it would taper off.
  • Nope....not giving up - just expected more than 2 pounds - love that quote at the end of your reply !
  • Do you drink alcohol? That causes high levels. go to www.mayoclinic.com and put lowering triiglycerides into the search - it's a short article
  • I forwarded to a few friends - very interesting reading - was shocked about the water vs metabolism part - maybe that's been my problem with being "stuck" !! Water it is ! I need to go back and see if Chardonnay counts as water - just kidding
  • What a fantastic article ! Thank you for taking the time to send it to me! I had no idea your metabolism can slow down without enough water - and the part about cholesterol was very interesting too - I have high LDL. Thanks again ! Will start drinking 8 glasses today !
  • I'm off to Target to get a huge water bottle - good idea to just keep it right there all day - I know that even non-dieters are told to drink lots of water every day - just hard to get it down! Thanks !
  • Hi there Nate ! Good for you on your weight loss. Just take it easy until you are able to get back on track. Are you able to walk? If so I read an article that said if you can get 30 minutes of walking in a day that's good enough - the best part is you can break it up thorughout the day - 10 minutes in the morning, 10…
  • This has happened to me too - I upped my calorie intake for a few days and drank more water and added 10 more minutes to my exercise - the following week I was down 3 lbs. Everyone is different of course but you may want to try it - I know adding more calories is scary but sometimes you have to shake up your metabolism
  • I have to say this - your humor ishysterical and that will take you to your goal - you're an inspiration to all of us. Good for you !
  • You may want to give weight watchers a try - there is nothing - NOTHING that you cannot eat. Everything in moderation, portion control - that way you are not depriving yourself of anything and will stop obsessing about what you can't have.
  • Thanks for the info on HRM - will be going to ****'s Sporting Goods in the morning to get one of them !
  • Welcome and good luck - it's hard for ALL of us - that's why we're here - this is a great site though - keeping track of your food and exercise is key - I break my exercise up into morning/afternoon/evening to keep memore focused. I have also found that a handful of plain roasted almonds before dinner (about an hour…
  • Here's an even faster oats recipe that I eat several times a week: 1/2 c Quaker oats--the ones in the round box 1/2c soy milk (or what you like) 1T pure maple syrup (I use 100% Maple Grove not the pancake syrup) 1 t slivered almonds and/or diced apple Let it all sit for 15 minutes and then microwave for 1 minute. You can…
