  • I bought a small digital one at target ($29.99) and I did use it a lot at first to get used to how much 4 ounces of chicken or meat is...eventually you learn what that looks like. However, its there when you need it. So I use it less now...but still need it every so often. Its worth it.
  • My boddybugg says I burn between 1 to 2 calories per minute when I am doing nothing... so I use that number to subtract when I do exercise.
  • Save the money!! Use MFP for support and counting calories. WW uses points to replace the task of adding calories as its easier to count points then adding up calories in your head. However, points go back to calories
  • I have to say my success came from using a Polar HRM. I try and stay within my target heart rate and I leave the gym once I hit my goal of calories burned. It pushed me to up my intensity. Best thing ever. At first I had bought just the watch and it wasnt that great until a salesperson told me nothing better then polar. I…
  • MFP is already calculating a deficit with the food..which is why you are able to eat the exercise calories. When I was new this was very confusing to me until I understood the goal is to have a 3500 calorie deficit at the end of the week to meet one pound loss. Some people like to exercise a little and then eat less. Some…
  • muscle occupies less space in the body compared to fat. that is why when you build muscle and drop fat you get into smaller jean sizes. so you get the feeling that the scale is lying but really you are just changing the weight from fat to muscle...keep going and the scale will start to reflect the changes. If your body has…
  • There are various reasons that could cause this....hard to know without knowing a lot about you. I have found the following to be pretty common but don't know if they apply to you. Some people don't eat enough...so make sure you eat the exercise calories. Some folks perform the identical workout so the body is used to it.…
  • Love Jillian...I will watch. Wondering why some of you don't like her...know something I don't know???
  • Heart rate monitors can have some interference from others using them near you or from the machines. Check the user manual as to what can be done to minimize interference. I know mine said something like wear it on the other wrist and it also mentions that unusual readings come from interference.
  • Welcome...you will love it.
  • I use my Heart rate monitor and it says I burn about 250 calories...
  • Yes....watch the sodium. It's bad for your body. Not to mention you will retain water and will make it seem like you haven't lost as much weight. There are tons of articles on the internet on the effect of high sodium levels in your body. Worth reading........

  • I use a polar F6 HRM and it gives me calories burned for my exercise. It registers lower then gym machines and less then this website. It seems pretty accurate to me...but then again I haven't tried other products.
  • It's pretty annoying that most jeans have the stretch fabric. Then they wonder how we all let the weight creep up on us....lol
  • I use my heart rate monitor when exercising with the wii and the calories it says on the game is closer. Without the heart rate monitor...you won't be able to tell for sure what you burned. For example, you can have two people doing jumping jacks and one can exert more in doing so then another person. That is why estimates…
  • Try having an apple before the event. You will do better if you are not very hungry.
  • I heard BMI isn't all that accurate to determine correct body weight. It was in the news when they said Tom Cruise would be considered obese as it doesn't take into consideration body size, muscle mass etc. Congrats on being a healthy weight. Now all you need to do is maintain a healthy life style
  • Great idea.... Heart rate monitors are good because the machines at the gym inflate calories burned.
  • I use two 5lb dumbells. That is all you really need. The mat would be more for your comfort.
  • if you are going to be counting calories...you will want to include it all. I know many diet plans say you can eat all the fruit and veggies you want because they know its good for you and will fill you up more then if you didnt eat them. That alone would reduce the calories a person eats in a day. Either way works...but…
  • so I use what I read in one of the biggest loser books....to eat for the goal weight. For example, I want to be at 160lbs. Then I would eat 1600 calories a day plus any I gain for exercising. If I wanted to weigh 150lbs...then I would eat 1500 calories. Let me tell you....there is so much to know and different advice from…
  • What is Chirunning????
  • The body doesn't work on a 24hr clock, so you don't have to eat them that same night. It may affect your sleep. Everyone is different. I know it doesnt work for me to eat so late. If the next day you are really hungry...then you can throw in some extra calories.
  • Peanuts are good for you....however they do have quite a bit of calories. Don't stress too much. At least they were healthy calories.
  • Good Luck. Try and stay away from processed food. It has a lot of sodium.
  • 3435 post says it all...that is really what works. the combo of diet and exercise. I have done the same. No meds though...I went the route of adding fiber and mono unsaturated fats to the diet to keep sugar levels steady...which prevents hunger, mood etc..
  • its not healthy if you get obsessed and count every morsel you eat for the rest of your life... Its good when trying to lose weight but eventually you will know what a portion size should be and have some idea in your head what your calorie intake would be for the day.
  • I keep in my drawer a ziploc bag with a serving of cheerios. A 100 calorie bag of popcorn. A slimfast drink or protein powder in a ziploc bag. I call those my emergency snacks that dont go bad and can sit in my desk. Otherwise, each day I do bring an apple,an orange, cottage cheese and yogurt.
  • Not everything.... Check out the nutritional info on their website to make a better selection. I love the oven roasted chicken sub
