  • This looks amazing! Hm maybe I'll have to try it some day. I also think making with apples would be amazing (I'm not much of a pear person).
  • I've never made overnight hot oatmeal, but I LOVE overnight cold oatmeal. Vanilla or other flavored yogurt steel cut oats (but really any kind work) milk frozen berries (I don't ever measure, just dump stuff in until I like the ratio - you can google for a recipe) Optional: vanilla extract (vanilla + raspberry is amazing),…
  • Hi! I just got the call that I failed my 1-hour Glucose test so I'm a little worried I might be joining the GD group with you :/ I really should be eating healthier anyway, but hoping I pass the 3-hour test (still need to schedule it, so not sure when it is). You gals have some great information though, and it makes me…
  • I would have a cup of plain black coffee and a banana first thing when I woke up, then jump in the car for a 20-ish min drive to the gym then workout (while drinking some water on the way to the gym). I always have to eat something before I workout or I get light headed and feel sick, but it has to be something small and…
  • Try some higher calorie easy to grab snacks, like nuts or granola/protein bars, protein shake, etc. or add more to your meal times (depending on your hunger level). As others have noted, the time you eat the calories doesn't matter, so try to figure out what works best to give you the most energy throughout the day.
  • Hm, well you could make a giant salad with all the fixings. You can buy pre-packaged lettuce and spinach already cut, already sliced up carrots, broccoli slaw (or broccoli bits already cut), sugar snap peas in a bag, sunflower seeds, and anything else you usually put on the salad. I think I've seen in the store that they…
  • I don't have that much weight to lose (hopefully... I'm pregnant so currently still gaining weight), but I'm guessing I'll be at about 50-60 pounds to lose by the time I have the kid. I'm also focusing more on eating healthy real foods instead of JUST low-calorie (I seriously avoid artificial sweeteners and "low fat/low…
  • There are ways to spruce up a lot of veggies to make them delicious. One way to add some to your meals is try to "sneak" veggies into your normal meals. If you like spaghetti, try adding some onion, mushrooms, green zucchini (surprisingly it doesn't have much flavor) to your sauce, all minced a little smaller so you won't…
  • My gym had a Zumba class that would start right about in the middle of my normal workout time. There was this one lady (at least one, sometimes others would join) that would hoot and holler at the top-of-her-lungs randomly throughout the workout (like saying "woo!" "yeah!") every single class. She was so loud it was…
  • I like to make my own smoothies (banana, frozen fruit, yogurt, milk or juice for liquid, and I like to add spinach for extra greens since you can't taste it and chia seed, flax seed, wheat germ). If you have a magic bullet or similar, you can get everything ready in the cup the night before and put it in the fridge, hit…
  • Hi all :) I'm new to the group, and although I'm not a mom yet, I'm pregnant with our first and already struggling with finding time to work out and get exercise in. I work a full time desk job and on top of that, I commute 45+ minutes each way so I'm usually gone from 7am - 6pm M-F. I also own a small business (I make &…
  • I log daily, but slack a bit on the weekends (they're just so dang busy!). Goals are to eat healthy REAL food, exercise, and focus on being healthy. I have about 50-ish pounds to lose.
  • Hi - I'm on daily (but less active on weekends), feel free to add me :)
  • Hi! I'm due mid-April with my first (a boy too!). My dr doesn't want me losing any weight, but doesn't want me gaining more than 2-3 pounds a month for the rest of the pregnancy since I've been gaining too much so far (I wasn't tracking food or watching what I was eating). Pretty much all I do for exercise now is walking,…
  • Peanut butter Nuts Dairy (yogurt, milk, cheese)
  • I'm pregnant with my first - Due April 15th! I'm just trying to eat healthy foods, cut out the sweets (although sometimes I don't do so great), drink plenty of water, and go on walks for exercise. I'm trying to stay near my calorie goal, but mostly focusing on eating healthy REAL foods (fruits & veggies!) to make sure I'm…
  • Unless you have a health reason to stay under the daily sugar limits, I wouldn't worry about it if they're coming from natural sources. I stopped tracking sugars because I eat a lot of fruit and I have no reason to stay under an arbitrary number for sugars. Just my opinion.
  • I think it's important to eat real food instead of meal replacements... but if you're going to stick to protein shakes, try making them into a smoothie (adding frozen fruit, a banana, chocolate syrup) to be able to stomach them. Also they usually taste better with milk rather than water. I frequently use protein shakes as…
  • I think you should do whatever works for you, there's no magic math equation that works for everyone. My doc told me once to use my urine color to determine if I'm drinking enough. But usually I aim for AT LEAST 8 glasses, but my goal is usually 10-12. Drinking lots of water helps me have more energy and helps me to snack…
  • I'm just coming back again after being gone for like a year.. feel free to add me :)
  • You're amazing! Thanks so much for sharing this. I've been feeling down on motivation lately, but this is amazing! Now I need to find my own mountain to climb and set some non-scale goals for this year!
  • Due April 15th with my first! Would love some friends :) I've already gained about 27 pounds so far so the goal is to gain no more than 10 more pounds for the rest of my pregnancy. I ate pretty unhealthy for a lot of my pregnancy (Halloween candy, Christmas baking, ugh!) so I'm getting back to eating healthy.
  • I'm only focusing on eating healthy and exercising and trying to make sure I log everything (not currently losing weight because I'm pregnant - but after April I'll be working on losing all the pregnancy I've gained PLUS the weight I gained before getting pregnant... plus the weight from being overweight before). I'd love…
  • I'm coming back to MFP after a long hiatus. I'm currently pregnant, so not "losing" until after the baby's here, but I'm focusing on eating better and being more active through the end of the pregnancy to try to be healthier. April I'll be switching back to losing. I'd love more friends :)
  • I'm currently pregnant and I just wanted to say that I really wish I would have gotten healthy before I got pregnant! I put on about 10-15 pounds the past year (on top of already being overweight) before getting pregnant and now I have that weight, on top of my pregnancy weight gain, and some days I feel miserable due to…
  • I snack all the time, it helps me to not binge eat or to not eat the candy/baked goods that always find their way into my work. My fav is fruits and veggies: small mandarin oranges, cut up apple slices (you can dip them in smooth pb for an extra protein boost and yummy-ness), bananas, baby carrots, sugar snap peas, carrot…
  • You are amazing! Thanks for sharing your results thus far, you've really made remarkable progress in a year! You're a great inspiration!
  • Hi! I'm looking for some additional friends for additional motivation and accountability, feel free to add me! :) My #1 goal right now is to focus on eating healthy, getting exercise (walking), and logging EVERYTHING! It's definitely more fun to have cheerleaders to support you on your journey :)
  • Hi! I'm a first time mom-to-be as well (currently 25 weeks, due April 15th), but I completely fell off the wagon and put on about 15 pounds before getting pregnant, so I have that weight, on top of being overweight to start, on top of the pregnancy weight I've put on, so I'm coming back to MFP to help me make healthy…
  • I've actually always wanted to do this and I think it would help me immensely! Especially when I gain weight back and have to put the "beads" (or whatever) back into the "pounds to lose" jar which would be a great reminder that I already worked so hard to lose those and now I have to work hard to lose them AGAIN! I'll…
