  • Should the person who authored the sentence above really be complaining about grammar?
  • 232 in 5 weeks.
  • 1972 Ford Pinto. Paid $50, drove it for one week, got $50 back when I junked it.
  • They are done. Nobody even looks he is trying. Terrible showing lately.
  • I get my hair cut for $12 and will tip between $3 and $8. Depending on whether I need to pick up lunch or not.
  • AlSalzman, that's the answer to the question I had. Do you mind telling me what type you have?
  • When I said meant for running, I was considering the design and the GPS aspects where it tracks distances and pace, etc. I understand that it can be used in any cardio activity, which is why I thought I might be able to use one while playing hockey. Problem is, I don't own one, and other than hockey I don't have a lot of…
  • Do any of you use your Polar HRM while playing sports. I want to get one to use while playing hockey, but I am not sure that it would work with all the equipment. Anybody have thoughts on that?
  • I just put down the hour but keep in my head that the 943 calories it says I've burned are way over estimated. I've been thinking about using a heart rate monitor while playing but I don't have one and I don't know that they would work with all the equipment. I've heard some of them don't have very strong signals and that…
  • I am assuming the 942 is overestimating. The time is probably closer to 45-50 minutes total. Exertion wise, I go pretty hard. Out of breath on the bench, heart going strong, sweating like crazy. Maybe a HRM is the way to go.
  • I think your question is along the lines of the following. Your BMR takes into account your normal daily activities which is why it is higher for an active person as opposed to a sedentary person. As long as the workout is above and beyond you normal daily activity, then I wouldn't worry about deducting BMR from your…
  • A friend of mine, admittedly a thin friend, used this program to run a 5K. She managed to finish in right around 30 minutes, which was her goal. I think the nice thing about the program is how slowly it eases you into the running. I know that in the past I have tried running a mile on day 1 and on day 2 I am too sore to…
  • I am in a similar situation, desk job but I walk to labs and such. I chose sedentary because I figured it was more conservative. If I met the calorie goals of a sedentary person and I happen to be slightly > sedentary then I win because I will have a built in calorie defecit.
  • If girls did this, it wouldn't get guys to stop looking. It might even increase the amount of and obviousness of staring that goes on.
  • I've done a couple of 5K events and I am far from a fast runner - I do about a 12 minute mile pace over the course. In my experience, if you stage at the start in the right pace range (usually that's how they group people, I think) then as you run you'll pass just as many people as pass you. At least that's what I've…
  • Good win over the Caps the other day after a dissappointing loss to Pitt. Looking forward to tomorrow's game, though I don't really like the NBC broadcast team.
