Both great programmes. Jim has revisited 5/3/1. It's called Beyond 5/3/1. Worth a read.

Don't go by any calculator. Record what you eat for a week or two to maintain your weight. This is your BMR. Calculators always give me a lower BMR than what I actually am. Currently it seems 3000kcals is my base rate.

Id be very concerned if anyone I knew was eating 700kcals a day. I'd rightfully tell them straight away that in the long term, they will do more harm than good.

I agree with this. Weighing yourself daily is pointless. If you want to do it daily, then feel free, but then divide the TOTAL weight by 7 so you get an average (due to daily fluctuations). I weigh myself every Tuesday. That's it.

It takes 36+ hours for your body to go into starvation mode so I very much doubt you'll ever go into it. On the contrary, eating less than 1200 is very dangerous. It's literally crash dieting and will do all sorts of bad things to your metabolism. Please research 'Metabolic Damage', and please make sure to eat more than…

This isn't true. Everyone's metabolic rate is different. They say 3500kcals per pound but there's been no scientific proof that this is the case. But to answer your question, yeah it's water weight. I've went up 9lbs in a week and lost that 9lbs in a week, just due to binging and retaining a lot of water.

In the past year and a half in total I've lost 32lbs, but in the process I've gained roughly the same to :) - but in muscle. So a fluctuation of roughly 64lbs. So yeah, it's more than achievable!
