  • A good way to determine if it's a "whole" food is ask yourself if your great great grandmother would've recognized that it's food. "Apple? Yes. Chicken breast? Yes! Doritos taco shells? WHAT IS THAT?!?" Think about the processed foods you eat and break them down into their recognizable components. You like McBurgers?…
  • I braise my porkchops in a mix of one 12oz bottle of any good dark beer, 1/3 cup low-sugar ketchup, a tbsp of dried thyme leaves, and a tsp of worcestershire sauce all mixed together. I quickly brown the pork in a pan with a little spray of pam, then remove the chops, set aside, and add one sliced vidalia onion and a pint…
  • Sounds to me like you're doing fine. A lifestyle change is just a realistic diet you can do forever. And it's not unusual to be slightly more restrictive when you are actively trying to lose rather than maintain. I understood your post to mean you eat three meals at 250 and three snacks at 100. I'd try to get up to a 1200…
  • Add it! Add everything! Letting foods slide is a bad habit, and tough to break. There are some foods that don't make a real difference-- I defy anyone here to eat enough lettuce or spinach to gain weight. But tomatoes, onions, peppers, melons, berries.... all these tasty treats DO have significant amounts of…
  • I love starbucks!! Iced unsweetened half passion half green tea tastes like summer for me. And I start most mornings with a venti soy latte. It's a little on the high cal side, but since I'm not really a breakfast eater, those 220 cals of soy milk are a nice wholesome way to start the day, with 11g of protein, too!
  • Wow, is that really only 55?!? Maybe it's a combination of the way your clothes fit in the first few pictures, but it looks like you lost way more than that. Congratulations, you really look amazing!
  • Sorry if my rant offended everyone. Just was sick of seeing post after post asking different ht/wt combos specifically to see what they would look like. I'm a friendly, supportive person, you can go through my previous posts and see that I'm really not a meanie. Just annoyed and venting. Like so many people here were happy…
  • I agree that before and after pics are awesome! People work hard for those and they deserve to show off while we reap the benefit of some serious inspiration. That's one of my favorite things on this site. And they can be very motivating, but to look at someone else's picture and base your expectations off it is just…
  • Whoa, that website is crazy! But there are so many variables that go into 'how you look' it just seems silly to use someone else's picture as a predictive tool. I know people that are my height and weigh 15 lbs more than me, but are in better shape so they're much thinner. I also know people who weigh less than me but have…
  • Don't be so hard on yourself! Just remember, your starting weight could be someone else's final goal. I bet there's a few chicks on here looking at you and dyyyyying to get into those size 14s. I just got down to a 14 and couldn't be happier. Maybe he was checking you out and underneath his hot facade he's totally awkward.…
  • Thanks!!! I *tried* to get in 4 days per week. But that's usually a goal, not necessarily what happens. Mostly I just tried to be more active on a daily basis, walk more, no more late night candy. I think it was a little easier for me because I had so many really bad habits, that just stopping them was enough without too…
  • I'm 5'4", and you might be surprised! I didn't think I really looked THAT different until I started trying on old clothes and looking through photos. It sneaks up on you!
  • You didn't just lose weight, you lost YEARS! You look fantastic! Congrats!
  • Lots of places sell single serve packets of peanut butter or hummus, throw in a tortilla, some fruit or veggies, and you have a diy kit for one very fresh sandwich. I'm also a big fan of the Naked brand smoothies, one bottle makes a nice lunch on the go for those of us who aren't always keen to munch down lots of solid…
  • I've lost 18 lbs since joining, about 20 since the center pic, not sure what I was in the first pic. ;) Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Nutrition Facts For Foods
  • I fully and completely understand everything you said. I prefer to drink my calories in the same way: no soda, no weirdo protein shakes or fake sugary juice-like-substances (i.e. koolaid, capri sun, crystal lite...eugh)... just normal drinks. Normal drinks that I drink because I like them. If you offered me a turkey burger…
  • Thanks for the tech help!! @juicymoo Thanks! You're a pretty hot tamale yourself!
  • Well you weren't exactly Gilbert Grape's mom in the before pic, but you look much smoother, and a much leaner more graceful silhouette. Congrats!!
  • ok, I *thought* I knew how to post pictures... anybody care to lend me a hand here?
  • OF COURSE I want to see it! Make it so! Engage! Pics or it didn't happen!
  • dude an mfp guild would be rad, but I doubt anyone is playing what I'm playing. LOTRO anyone? And I just started STO...
  • Of course Han shot first. I'm only on my third episode of Enterprise, and it's good in that 'I already have seen all these characters in other star treks, but they're familiar and that's comforting' kind of way. TNG is by far the best, but DS9 is good when you watch it in sequential order.
  • I love Star Wars (no prequels, no expanded universe, eff that nonsense) but Star Trek wins every time! I'm watching TNG right now!
  • Season 5 has arrived on netflix!! yay!! What do you play? I WISH I had a guild like theirs. The only one I ever joined was absolutely awful, no organization, just a bunch of dudes that didn't really know what they were doing. Lame.
  • Try tricking him into eating healthy food. Make dinners that are better for you but mimic the sort of things he is used to. It worked on my boyfriend, now some of his favorite meals are under 300 calories and he has no idea.
  • My boyfriend thought I was "off my diet" tonight, because we were having tasty pizza treats. It's a pretty good substitute for the real thing.
  • I like waiting until the whole season is edited together to watch on the real tv. I only have a mini laptop, not as good on a teeny tiny screen and teeny tiny speakers. But it must be coming soon!
  • Ok, just watched the Neil Gaiman episode and the show is completely redeemed for me. Can't wait to cosplay as the tardis, lol.
  • BACON SALT!!! find it here: http://www.thinkgeek.com/caffeine/wacky-edibles/c4e9/?srp=1
  • The best tip I've ever gotten is to identify the flavors you love. Like I love BBQ chicken because it's smokey and spicy. So I find ways to make things taste smokey and spicy without the sugar and other bad stuff in BBQ sauce. If you love icecream because it's chocolatey, switch to a few small pieces of dark chocolate. If…
