  • Hello all. I was on this app a few years ago and lost 40 pounds. Two big surgeries and a lot of self-indulgence later and I have put it all back on!! I don't know if I will get back to a size 8 or smaller again, but I do need to get healthier and more active. I am only 5 feet 4 inches in height, so the weight really shows,…
  • it may not be the healthiest, but I buy a chocolate chocolate chip muffin mix and put applesauce in it instead of oil, egg whites instead of whole eggs or.. I eat a cereal like Special K chocolate almond or strawberry and use coconut milk-it really helps
  • My husband and I might eat out once a week. Its not burgers and fries or loaded pizza though. For me, I don't have acid reflux anymore. I had it very bad! Is it from the healthier eating or from less fat pushing down on my gut while sleeping-don't know. Might be both. We rarely use antacids now-we used to go through them…
  • glad you are okay, though.
  • We really like cats. We also had Mr. Puffs and Yang
  • 3 overweight house cats: Lobo(Spanish for wolf), Thud(who was the largest, but now is the lightest), and Angel(sometimes we wonder which kind). Past cats were Bounce, Basil, Psycho, Jenny, Docie, Cleo, Blackie, Brownie, Gloves, Squeaks, Mittens, Lovie, Phantom, Midnight, Callie, Runt, Midget, Screamer --Most of these were…
  • Hi. I don't have RA, but I have Osteoarthritis in my hands and hip( I am only 45). My friend termed it "you have your grandma's hands! ( Thanks!) Anyway, I have read that eating walnuts, almonds or pecans can help. I don't know if it helps a lot or if it helps RA. Just a bit of info for you.
  • Careful, though. My husband and I have both changed a lot physically. However, when we look in the mirror, we see the tummy pouch or the love handles-we don't see the progress as much as others do. Helps me to understand (a little) how people can become anorexic.
  • fruits and vegetables, of course. If its baked goods, like banana bread, replace the oil or butter with unsweetened applesauce, and replace each egg with 2 egg whites. Much healthier and lower in fat and calories. I also use 1/2 regular flour and 1/2 whole wheat. Recently, I added 1/4 cup of quick oats to help lesson the…
  • I rarely drink pop or juice. I don't eat bread much, but when I do its usually whole wheat. Why? Because I just didn't want to use up my daily calorie quota with bread or juice. Cheese is also something I have learned to use as a condiment--not much or its also uses up a lot of the calorie quota. Regarding the small…
  • bike that goes with the WII
  • Regardless of what studies have found, here is my experience so far. I have lost about 40 pounds over the last year. I started at 178 pounds and calories of 1440. When I got below 140 pounds, it was really hard to lose more. I was at 1200 calories and not progressing. If I ate a little more, I seemed to gain. A MFP friend…
  • Take a chocolate chip cookie recipe. Replace most of the butter with unsweetened appleasauce. Replace one egg with 2 egg whites. Decrease the amount of chocolate chips. Experiment.
  • resistance exercises. Put hands together, with elbows like-like you're going to chant or something, push against each other until arms are tired. Then hook fingers and pull in opposite directions until tired. Push against the dash with both hands-kind of like doing situps. Flex feet up and down. Suck tummy in and out. I am…
  • Usually, we have the cheese, crackers, and summer sausage-none of which are low in calories. If you think about it, why do we need appetizers for such a huge meal, anyway? I heard that the average American eats 4500 calories on Thanksgiving! Insane!
  • Well, I think you can lose with a "calorie is a calorie is a calorie". I also think it is important to do what will keep you going and motivated in the area of weight loss. However, some foods boost your metabolism and help your health and energy more than others. For instance, I recently heard that the more sugar you eat,…
  • I consider what I do jogging, but I think people don't really use that term anymore-now its all running, just at different speeds. That's what I have heard, anyway.
  • I am 5'4. I started MFP a year ago at 178 and wearing size 16. Before that, I had been up to 18/20 and little higher. (about 11-12 years ago) I was around 189 -193 or so back then. I lost 20-25 pounds and got down to 175 and then stayed there (more or less) until a year ago. I don't exactly know WHEN I got out of the plus…
  • I tell my daughter that dating has a purpose=to find a husband. She is not looking to get married, thus no dating. (she is only 13)I know she will have to wait til 16 at least.
  • I went to a "jewelry party" and the presenter kept saying "Nextly". At first I thought she was just nervous and slipped, however, she repeated it over and over again!
  • I think mine was around 240 or more before I went on my trip this summer and couldn't log in.
  • As my mother aged and became more ailing, she stayed in a nursing home close by. Going to visit her every week, I observed her and others in the home over time. As people become more dependent(unable to care for themselves) they become more demanding and "snippy". Why? I think it is because they have lost control over…
  • I have heard of it. Don''t really know about it. But, I think it is important to find what foods you really like(taste-wise) that are healthy so you can continue to eat them. ( instead of eating to lose and then reverting back to your old habits and gaining it back)
  • Congrats to you! Also, this will be a great boost of encouragement for you to continue, if you need to.(I did not look at your information to see, sorry)
  • Love your scripture at the bottom of your post. I used it a lot this summer while I was taking swim lessons. (very scary for me!) Have you heard of a book called BOD4GOD? I am reading it. Very good. Keep working at this. Think how far you have come already! I believe you have lost 50, right? Well, think how many sticks of…
  • Don't beat yourself up about it. You have to live life once in a while. Most of us just need to make sure its 'once in a while" or we wouldn't be on this site.
  • Hi. I am not in my 50s yet, but my goal weight is probably 135. I am 5'4. I started this site last October. I have lost over 30 pounds. I did it slowly and it really did not seem that difficult. I have done harder things in my life! I love this site. I am very thankful for it. I have much more energy now. I feel better…
  • Yes. Are you concerned about trying to get snacks in?
  • I am in a similar situation. I am about 10 pounds away from my goal. I know I still have issues with food. We had cake for a dessert at a luncheon about a week ago. I was completely full and enjoyed the dessert....but, I wanted MORE! I was in a public setting and was able to resist, but it was almost an obsession for me. I…
  • Totally depends on the girl. My 13 yr. old doesn't want to wear makeup or nail polish. She loves making bracelets, drawing, and reading. Above all, they mostly think of themselves as "NoT" children, but occasionally like to be kids. OH, and 'coolness' is really important now, too.
