I get to make appetizers for Thanksgiving... No clue what to make. I'm kinda boring and stick to things like brushetta or bean dip. So what kinds of things do you like to snack on?

My favorite is a wedge of brie wrapped in croissant dough (brushed with butter and sprinkled with sesame seeds) and baked in the oven according to the temp and time on the croissant package. Then use triskets to to spread it on. Healthy.. no.. yummy YES!

Usually, we have the cheese, crackers, and summer sausage-none of which are low in calories. If you think about it, why do we need appetizers for such a huge meal, anyway? I heard that the average American eats 4500 calories on Thanksgiving! Insane!

The average American eats about 3800 calories every other day though....So 4500 isn't too much of a stretch, Sure makes my 1500 feel good.
  • sausage balls! We always have these the night before. 1lb hot breakfast sausage, 2 cups sharp cheddar shredded, and 3 cups bisquick. Mix together, roll into balls and bake at 350 for about 15-20 minutes. If you let the sausage sit out for a few minutes it is easier to incorporate. My favorite holiday food.

Edit: It takes a lot of mixing to get it all incorporated. I usually use my mixer with the dough hook and set it at the lowest setting for a good 5 minutes at least.
    Nothing low-cal about these though...

True but you also burn 1000 calories traveling and packing, another 800 preparing food/meals, 250 avoiding realtives you dont care for, and 750 arguing about politics, religion, or other hot topics.

    So it all evens out
