  • I've tried mornings and evenings after work. Definetly get a better workout first thing in the AM to start my day. Done P90X and Insanity several times. Now onto Body Beast. I make it a priority to workout early and have no excuses or conflicts at the end of the day on why I couldn't get it in. Plus I'm pumped all day from…
  • You don't even have to work abs if you do enough compond lifts. If you want a percentage I think it's closer to 90% nutrition. Work you're abs until the cows come home. If they're covered in fat who will see them ?
  • You can drink too much water ya know. Look it up, water intoxication. Once my urine is clear then I'm drinking enough, anymore is overkill and 2 gallons sounds insane .
  • Absolutely work. Done both several times. The caveat of course is if your trying to shed weight you have to be in a calorie defict. This little detail trips up most people that fail to see results. The P90X meal plan in the nutrition guide is tough to follow verbatim. I just do my own thing with the meals while following…
  • There is physical pain from say pulling a muscle which you should obviously stop and see what that is about before continuing. And then there's mental pain/fatique. The people that fail to see results are in this category because they can't get through that mental block and succumb to pain too easily and often. When you're…
  • Finished Insanity about a month ago. It is the most intense workout on DVD I've seen. If you push yourself you will be drenched even after the warm up. The first month runs about 45 mins while month two turns up the number of circuits and runs around an hour. 6 days a week, I prefered to do it first thing in the morning to…
  • I think it's a crutch as you wouldn't use Nutrisystem or something similar indefinetly. Might as well bite the bullet and figure out how to prepare nutritious meals for yourself. No doubt about it, it takes some work and planning but well worth it. Just my opinion.
  • Save your money and do it the old fashioned way! Just sayin.
  • You can't out work a poor diet no matter the progarm. Eating the proper macros is a majority of the puzzle.

  • Nonsense on not preserving LBM. I lost 33 lbs and preserved muscle. Pic is blurry but you can see I'm not scrawny.

  • I think we're on the same page as I said if you're struggling with the last three reps then the number on the weight is irrelevant..
  • I wouldn't get too hung up on the amount of weight you move. Actually this is a macho thing in the gym between guys : ) Too many people lose form trying to move more weight, guys especially. Concentrate on the muscle you're working. As long as you struggle those last three reps then you're putting in the work and you will…
  • Another fact to add to your conundrum that seems to be discounted on this site, to GAIN muscle mass, along with all that weight training that you cited, you need to be in a calorie SURPLUS. Not deficit.
  • Just mix it with milk or water and drink it down. I prefer water to save the calories for elsewhere .Use a shaker bottle for work and a blender at home with ice and some berries. I usually drink two a day, morning/afternoon. I have to supplement protein, I can't eat enough lean meat in a day.
  • Everything will be debunked at one time or another...10 yrs from now all of the conventional wisdom and truth we take as gospel today will be out the door. Just wait : )
  • Do you see a physician about treatment for an under active or non functioning thyroid ?
  • When I'm strugging on the last three reps then I know I have the correct weight. My heart rate is spiking.
  • There's some debate on how accurate the HRM is during weight training but nevertheless,, how long are you taking between sets? I try to stay around 30 seconds and no more than a minute. More like circuit training.
  • Steve, Take a look at bodybuilding.com, a lot of free info about nutrition and programs you can gleen from that site. Basically you need to change your body composition and the only way I know to do that is from weight training. It doesn't have to be heavy weight but you need to build some lean muscle mass and reduce the…

  • Mondays make me depressed and I'm usually cured on Fridays....another useless study IMO of course.
  • What has already been mentioned. You need to eat more with that much excercise. Also 30g of carbs ? Carbs are not evil per se. You can eat whole grains just hit your macros. I ussually taper off through the day but it doesn't matter. There is tons of advice on proper macros and percentages and they vary by opinion. I'll…
  • If you want to do pushups invest in a weight vest, 40 lbs will give you an amazing pump if you pump them out.
  • Thinking water, if you're still in a calorie defict from the excercise then you shouldn't be adding any additional fat or muscle. Wow, 500 calories. I would give it awhile and experiment where your maintenance threshold actually is. Make sure you drink enough water to keep flushed. Try to get in a strength program as well.…
  • lol...Tony Horton and Shaun T are my best buds!. I second in trying to find them used. Insanity will push you to max.
  • If you can get your heart rate at about 70% of your max you will get a good burn however it needs to be an extended amount of time. From my arm and shoulders workout this afternoon I wore my HR monitor and 58 mins total which included warm up and cool down I expended 736 cal. Averrage rate was 130 with a max of 160. At 48…
  • I remember the family that got the first VCR on our street. It was 1977, oh boy I'm dated, and they taped the Superbowl. We thought that was amazing. I remember it being huge.
