Hi Ruth- It isn't rocket science... they say its all in the caloric intake. I do swear that I lose better without bread, etc. Just experiment to what works best for you! There is a lot of wonderful support here on MFP.

Secret number one: Log every bite of food and stay under your goal a bit. Move daily and log that as well. Drink lots of water. Log in here to read about others and gain insight into helping yourself! Get lots of support and move forward :) You can do it.

For the meditators/hypnotherapy folks - there are iPhone apps. Not sure if there are Podcasts. Julia- MFP has just about any food in their database so just enter it all in. I find myself at the end of the day needing to find calories if I have exercised that evening a great deal. Good luck!

I made brownies for a friend's birthday and was out of vegetable oil. I melted down some Coconut oil (Trader Joes) and used it instead. The brownies were yummy chocolate with that nice coconut taste in the background.

Why do I want to lose weight? Where to begin? My entire closet is calling my name but I don't fit in it. I am worried about long-term effects of my obesity. Today - I am learning to just take it minute by minute a lot of the time.

Where are you emotionally? Carbs are my go-to for comfort. If you need self-soothing then find that somewhere... a pedicure... anything but food. One weekend - Friday night to Sunday noon 1. One frozen chocolate cream pie 2. One frozen Pepperidge Cake Plus other normal meals including two meals out with fried foods.
