  • 706 days and going strong!
  • I do not have this problem, but my sister does, and my daughter is gluten intolerent. The Specific Carbohydrate Diet often known as SCD has helped both of them. Also a friend who suffered from severe Crohn's Disease found relief as long as she followed the food guidelines. I will try this new system to include some…
  • If you are afraid of the scale, don't weigh in yet, as has been suggested. For myself I like to know exactly what is going on! Earlier this summer I went on two trips (so close together they might have been one) that turned into a 3 1/2 week binge. Altho' I logged into MFP every day, there were many days when I stopped…
  • YUM! Always looking for a good chicken recipe.
  • Sue, the surprises and exciting experiences just keep happening with the "new you" don't they? I wear jeans almost all the time except to church or some special occasion. I like the Gloria Vanderbilt "Amanda"style jeans because they sit AT my waist and have plenty of room for my "more mature" figure. Usually watch for a…
  • GOOD for you, Sue! I used to order from Woman Within. also, but have shrunk out of their clothes. This week in New Orleans, I bought a Mardi Gras T-shirt in a size medium...and it FIT! Still trying to wrap my brain around that!!! Can hardly wait to get home this weekend and show it to my hubby. Going to have to start…
  • Oh, YES! Esther Price dark chocolate covered cherries are definitely THE BEST! Used to live in Dayton where the company originated and since moving to Utah have even ordered some and paid the shipping to get them here! Not often...I dare not....they are addicting!
  • Yes! When I started this journey about two years ago, I wore a 9 1/2 WW. Now down over 85 lbs. and counting, I take a 9M. Still bigger than the 8M in high school, but that was almost 50 years ago and those feet have seen a LOT of use since then <g>!!!
  • Great reminder to THINK before eating, especially if the urge strikes at other than mealtimes. Do I really need that cookie, or candy, or whatever? Why do I want "X" and can I make a healthier substitute if I am really hungry? Thought provoking post!
  • I make a 'relish' with cranberries and always have several bags in the freezer year round. I use one bag of cranberries, two or three oranges (only about half the orange peel), and two or three apples (the sweeter varieties like Gala or even Honeycrisp in season and cored but not peeled). I have a Maverick food grinder (a…
  • I tend to "guesstimate" on my larger recipes, but when I make chili and soups we have supper and then what is left I portion out to freeze for future use. I use the same ladle all the time and our bowls hold 3 ladles worth, so I freeze 9 ladles worth in each container ( 3 servings) and figure the number of servings by how…
  • I like the Leslie Sansone "Walk at Home" DVD's. There are a number of different ones that are varying levels of difficulty. The word "walk" does not begin to describe the kinds of moves she leads you through for a 'total body workout'. Plus suggestions to raise the difficulty level if you are very fit, or if you are like…
  • Gonna find this and bookmark it because I sometimes get frustrated with the one MFP has! Thanks!
  • YES! and ditto to nearly everything already posted! In about 18 months I have lost nearly 72 pounds and while I have a few more to go before I start maintaining, I'm not in a big hurry because I want to stay there once I get there. This time I feel I have a good chance of doing just that because of what I have learned on…
  • Bump! for more things to do with one of my favorite things.
  • Bump! For ideas...love avocados (when I can get decent ones) and some of these ideas sound winderful!!!
  • These look yummy, and I will check them out further to see if I can modify any to be both gluten-free and dairy-free. Daughter and family coming to visit. DD is gluten intolerant and her youngest is violently allergic to any form of dairy. Going to be a "fun" week!
  • Bump! for future. My hubby dislikes chicken, but I think he might even eat some of these!
  • As mentioned, walking is good exercise! Start slow and build up to more over time. Get a good pedometer (I use FitBit because it syncs with MFP but any reliable one will do) and keep track of your steps each day. Gradually build up the total. Thirteen months ago when I got mine, a 1,000 steps a day was a really good day. I…
  • Bump! For the recipesand Many thanks! I'm gonna be VERY busy!
  • I have the fitbit ultra which I got last April. At that time I would walk maybe 2,000 steps on a good day. I doubted I could ever get to even 5,000 due to knee and hip problems, but I gradually increased the daily total with a LOT of marching in place and now I can do over 10,000 steps almost every day, even outside when…
  • Living in northern Utah and loving it! Along the way to here, nine other states, some more than once!
  • Some of these sound great!
  • There's a brand of pasta called Tinkyada that is gluten free. My daughter is gluten intolerant and uses that brand all the time. She feels it is the most like regular pasta of any of the brands available. Their whole factory is dedicated to gluten free products, so no worry about cross-contamination.
  • There is a company out of Seattle called Decent Exposures that makes products not sold in stores (only web, phone, or mail) but they have wonderful bras in many, many sizes, colors, etc. They make bras TO ORDER, and are very helpful in helping you to find a comfortable fit. Check out their web site and/or give them a call.…
