  • I also started IF about 6 weeks ago. I'm loving the convenience of not packing a breakfast every day! I eat between Noon and 6pm normally. The only difference I've noticed is that my stomach is beautifully flat. LOL I used to use creamer also, but switched to Truvia. Tastes good to me.

  • I lift heavy 3x a week and wear a HRM. I can burn 300 cals/hour easy, more if doing lower body. Lifting heavy weights has almost a cardio effect on your breathing and your heart rate. That's why you're (I'm) out of breath at the end of my sets. I'd use what MFP suggests for "weight lifting" and maybe subtract 10-20%, as I…
  • I say it in my head every time I drive by a runner: "you go, dude". I've said it to people I've passed while jogging myself, and have yet to get anything but a grin or funny comment in return. Maybe it's like those people who drive motorcycles who have to wave at every other motorcycle driver. Like a club. Just go with it.…
  • I work out at home every day. I've just discovered Whitney Simmons on YouTube. She is fantastic and has a bunch of do at home workouts. Her tongue-in-cheek motto is "cardi-no" and is all about building muscle. Just love her! She's hilarious. I also use Fitness Blender on YouTube frequently, and they do a lot with body…
  • Gotta love these forums! TGIF to all!
  • Veiled sarcasm gets me every time. I have practiced with both bands, as stated in my post, and prefer unzipping the belt to draw. Don't assume that I haven't been in a life or death situation "and all that good stuff". No draw is ever going to be ideal, but you do the best you can with what you choose and what you practice…
  • Just this week I purchased the UShake Gear Running Belt (Amazon for $10). My Ruger LCP 380 (tiny handgun) fits perfectly, and it doesn't bounce at all. The belt has a wide stretchy strap that sits on my hips and stays put, even on my smooth running capris. This is by far the best product for a small concealed handgun I've…
  • 5'11" here in central Maine. Helloooo!
  • That comment has nothing to do with you, and everything to do with the jerk who was yelling. Some people need to make themselves feel better by belittling others. Deep down you know that. The people in your life that care about you are the ones that matter. Don't give that creep the satisfaction of even thinking about him…
  • I'll just add that I don't like the gym and much prefer the privacy of my own space! If you're looking for suggestions on in-home workout programs I'd be happy to suggest some. There are lots of great free ones on YouTube, and I own 6-7 programs that I've purchased.
  • Hi - feel free to add me too! I'm curious if you're home really isn't big enough, or if you just maybe think you need lots of space. I workout in my bedroom every single day... in a 6'x6' space at the end of my bed. I lift and follow DVD programs and have been doing it there for 4 years. Granted, if you don't like your…
  • Me, me, this is me!!! 2014 and 2015 were fantastic. 2016 was awful! I'm close to 40 and blame all my problems on middle age (hahahaha, not really). Seriously though, I'm back to counting calories and upping my sweat sessions. Add me if you want!
  • Hi! I've had to learn to not obsess with the number on my scale. I put mine away a month ago because I was truly obsessing about it... I was weighing myself every day and if my number was up a pound or 1/2 a pound it would ruin my mood and make me depressed. Being healthy and getting in shape is about so much more than…
  • I've done all 3 rounds of T25, TurboFire, Piyo, and Chalene Extreme (CLX). I started the Brazilian Butt Lift, but didn't finish the whole program because I just can't stand the trainer. T25 got me in the best shape of my life, and the 25 minute workouts were perfect for me. Turbofire is amazing cardio and is just really…
  • I did all 3 months of T25 and didn't SEE any big muscle development, and Gamma, the 3rd month, is all weights. I felt stronger and leaner, but I didn't have the tone that I think you're asking about. And, it's because I wasn't lifting heavy enough. It wasn't until I did the Chalene Extreme (CLX) program that I really start…
  • THIS ^^^ I joined MFP a few years ago and counted every calorie and every exercise minute, and it worked for me. Then I just got tired of it. I was "wasting" so much of my time logging food every single day. Now I'll log food for a month here and there to remind myself what portions should look like and how much I should…
  • IMHO, it depends on what you're doing for exercise. If I HIIT or run or hard cardio I always take 5 minutes to walk around after to let my body and heart rate relax a bit. I've been told (take this as you will) that if you immediately stop and sit or stand still after fast aerobic exercise that your blood will "pool" in…
  • You could try the C25K app to help you get started (Couch to 5k). It gives you a schedule to follow and starts you off walking with very short bursts of jogging. The very 1st workout, for example, tells you to do a 5 minute warm up walk, then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20…
  • What a great way to think about your journey! Congrats to you!
  • This was interesting - good question. I wear an HRM and average around 165-175 when doing cardio. If I'm lifting it's anywhere from 140-160 depending on the weight and #of reps, etc.
  • I never skip breakfast and believe in the old "it's the most important meal of the day" idea. I workout as soon as I get home from work in the evening, and then eat dinner. So, my metabolism revs all night and I'm starving by the time I wake up in the morning. I also eat every 2 1/2 to 3 hours during the day so my body is…
  • When I first joined MFP I bought a food scale and I hightly recommend it. That was eye opening! Portion control is HUGE. I was eating SO much food at one sitting, that once I started to weigh and measure what I should be eating the pounds came off. I LOVE food. All kinds of food. There is no "bad" food. There are good…
  • Looks like she morphed with Sarah Jessica Parker.
  • If she's happy, thats what is important. But, I really thought she was cuter before.
  • 5'11" here. Highest weight (that I can't blame on pregnancy) was 187. Was mid-170's when joined MFP. Lowest on here was 160.4.... damn that .4! :) 160 was pretty comfortable for me; I felt good and felt lean and strong. Right now I'm yo-yo'ing between 163-167, but need to buckle down and get back into a regular exercise…
  • #msf74 I don't want to quote that whole thing, but well done, sir. Well done. :) Made me laugh.
  • It's not weird at all! I still go to clothing stores and automatically reach for size 12/14, because that's what I wore for most of my adult life. And, yeah, it still makes me a little giddy when I buy/order 10's and they fit beautifully. Good for you!
  • Me too. I've used Runtastic and like that too, but I've found that Runkeeper's GPS is more accurate.
  • Just think of how proud we'll all be when you post at the end of today that you resisted! And, the sneezing post. Read that over and over and over again. Or think about the dude that made the donuts and how he forgot to wash his hands after he _______ (insert verb here)...
