Thanks so much for this! I especially appreciate hearing from someone with PCOS! While I've obviously been struggling with this syndrome for a while, I didn't have many ~worrying~ symptoms until after my year as a vegan (probably all the carbs I ate), so I was only recently diagnosed. Meaning I'm super new to the idea of…

Thank you!

Omg totally and I don't fault you for mentioning that at all. Honestly, the only reason I know about it at all is because of the PCOS. I had to educate myself if I wanted to get anywhere. It's a shame that most of us don't have the knowledge. We just pop a pill and don't really care about what it's doing or what is going…

However I've only been on spironolactone for about 2 months, and it's definitely going to consistently change how my body reacts to birth control until it gets a grip on my androgens. Meaning I'm probably going to have a whole lot of weird water issues for a while. Damn, didn't even think of that. How annoying. Maybe I'll…

I know it's not a real period. I do tend to retain water when I'm having a withdraw bleed, though. :(
-
True... Weirdly enough I was told to use my birth control to skip periods as much as possible to help get my iron back to where it should be, but my spironolactone (for the PCOS) caused me to get my period ANYWAY this week. So I definitely could be having some major hormonal water retention. Didn't even think of that!…

Not really an attack, just a statement regarding what is and is not helpful in this thread, and a fair one, considering what you'll find in other threads. Regarding the logging - a good point, but I generally "overlog". As in, if I don't feel like weighing something or don't have a scale with me, I will log a quarter of an…

Good job, but you've really gotta realize that this is a forum filled with thousands of people losing weight, and hundreds being super successful at it. I, for one, generally don't look past the first sentence of a post in Success Stories unless there are pictures. Not because I don't think people's successes are awesome,…

feramax has a liquid suspension. with ferritin that low you need a high dosage supplement. to put it in perspective, my ferritin was at 7 and with eating meat EVERY DAY and taking an iron supplement of 150 mg elemental iron, i still only increased my ferritin by 13 points in 8 weeks.

Try this: mix 2 drops tea tree oil in a tbsp of coconut oil and rub this all over your face, avoiding your eyes, and then wipe off dry. I have perfect skin and this is how I wash my face.

if you're vegan, you really have to switch to high fat and lift heavy weights otherwise you'll look like a raisin

greek yogurt, eggs (don't be afraid of them - cholesterol isn't what they thought it was 20 years ago), cottage cheese, hemp seeds, various protein powders (if you want to stay away from whey, which i totally understand, i use one made out of pumpkin seeds which tastes fine)

I hope this isn't triggering to you, but the way you're describing recovery, weight gain, and your own health in this thread sounds a whole lot like ED voice. My advice would be to talk about this with your therapist immediately.

qft i don't have eczema, but a similar, more scarring type of skin disorder. thank goodness i caught it in time and i have no really visible scars, but it does start to flare up in the same way yours does.. however, i have to be stricter than you. anything more than cross-contamination or tiiiiny amounts of gluten can set…
-
Yep, I know! I also don't get flare-ups from really tiny amounts of gluten. I got a massive flare-up from a gravy I thought was gluten-free, though, and when I asked if my friend had been honest with me about the gravy out of suspicion due to the flare up, she said "there was only a teaspoon of flour in the whole recipe",…
-
actually, re: beer - i have a skin disorder that flares up dramatically when i eat gluten. however, when i ingest SMALL amounts of gluten - like, for example, the amount that is in most beers - my skin disorder usually does not flare up. i still experience brain fog that lasts until the next day, but sometimes i ignore…

These threads always remind me of that scene from House, M.D. where Dr. Wilson tells Cuddy's mother that the whole "sugar-makes-kids-hyperactive-thing" is a myth and says "there's a study", to which she responds "I'm sure it's very interesting. I didn't read any studies. I just raised children."
