  • Once I went clipless, I never want to go back. I hate moving my foot around on flat pedals trying to find the perfect spot. I started with SPD-SL on my road bike and SPD on my hybrid. I switched to SPD on both bikes....I like being able to clip in on either side of the pedal, and being able to walk in my SPD cleated shoes,…
  • Get a proper fitting and make sure everything's tightened and adjusted correctly. You may actually end up liking the bike. Your butt will be sore until it's conditioned to ride. It takes more than the few rides you've been on. Most helmets can be adjusted and pads added....unless it's too small, I wouldn't be so quick to…
  • If they say libary.
  • I think this is the biggest reason for these types of comments from people you know.
  • I'm right there with you. My true goal was/is 175, and once I got there, I too thought that I could use some wiggle room. I'm at 166.5 now, and plan on getting to 165 and recomping from there while staying in the 165-170 window at the "first thing in the morning" weigh-in. I'm 5'10" and people I trust are telling me to not…
  • Workout in the morning. I never thought I'd be a morning workout type of person, but after a couple weeks of starting it last fall it's become a habit to get up an hour earlier. Doing it first thing in the morning eliminates the chance of skipping due to "not feeling it" or "unforeseen circumstances". Now I'm to the point…
  • ...and they come with a free man bun scrunchie!
  • If a trainer can't get a 400+lb person to lose 40-50lbs and quite a few inches in 5 months, he needs to change careers. He has no business taking your money. He should have been having your husband log his calories and adjusting his diet from the get go.
  • All winter long I hit the gym before work (6:15am) to get my daily cardio in, then lift 3-4 days per week in the evenings. Now that the weather's improved, I get my cardio by bike commuting anywhere from 3.5-10 miles each way, depending on how I feel and the weather. I'll check out your group.
  • Same here. I like that steep climb towards the end to finish things off with a steady descent to cool down.
  • ...but the calorie amounts from food labels and this app are based on weight of the food.....so if you're not weighing the food, how do you use them?
  • I recently hit my goal.... down to 175 from 262 since the end of October. Yes, it's possible.
  • Yet another vote for both. Each has a place in your overall health and appearance.
  • I just noticed that the Cygolite Metro 500 lights are going for 29.99.....that's a steal compared to what I paid a few years ago. They throw out quite a bit of light and have a not so harsh blinking mode that works great at dawn and dusk. They're waterproof and rechargable. I get about 3-4 hours per charge. Very dependable.
  • I've been bike commuting for 3 years (mainly Mar-Nov). My closest calls have been in the parking lot at work, not on the roads, watch for cars backing out of parking spots. Always wear a bright colored top. If you commute at dawn or dusk, use blinking lights....you don't need the expensive high powered ones. At…
  • Halls of Valhalla - Judas Priest
  • I like the way these youngsters are shaping up, they just don't throw in the towel...especially after that run of heartbreaking losses. I thought Holland lost his touch as a GM and that Blashill was a poor choice for HC, but now it looks like things are coming together. These guys really seem to enjoy playing with each…
  • Wasn't a fan until I made sweet potato chips in the air fryer. I can see where that could lead to an overindulgence problem....those things are awesome.
  • This is exactly what intermittent fasting should be used for. Satisfying your hunger and sticking with your caloric and nutritional goals. Many people find it easier and more satisfying to have fewer large meals in a smaller window vs. trying to plan/manage those calories throughout a long day. Personally, I love going to…
  • This can get some people in trouble, as whatever minute metabolic benefit there may be doesn't offset the possibility of taking in excessive calories by trying to fit in 5-6 meals per day. Many people are successful with and prefer eating larger but fewer meals per day to maintain their caloric goals and feel satiated.
  • ...that you should eat back your exercise calories. ;)
  • Garmin Vivoactive HR does exactly that.
  • Just look at protein powder as another food choice (which it is), and just figure it into your diet calculations.
  • Is it necessary to go to a buffet? Maybe pick someplace where you can somewhat limit yourself if you're concerned about going too far overboard. Have fun!
  • I hit the gym every morning before work. 2x a week I do high intensity intervals and the other days I do LISS for 30-40m. I also lift 3x a week after work. I really believe the LISS helps with muscle recovery, while burning a few calories and energizing my day. What I do know is that I feel like crap if I don't do it.
  • This. If I don't keep my hip flexors flexible, my SI joints act up. After every workout, I do 4-5 dynamic stretches then hold the last one at full stretch.
  • Holy crap, you can buy a couple Rodney Yee yoga DVD's for the price of one class.
  • Hard and angry old metal....Judas Priest, UFO, Sabbath, Metallica....With some angry guitar from Trower, SR Vaughan and Hendrix.
  • Sure! You can do intervals or even HIIT on your commute....especially on that uphill ride home. All kinds of info on bike commuting in this forum: https://www.bikeforums.net/commuting/

  • Very well put, sir! The fact that you got a woo is why that button should be eliminated.
