  • I'm with ya! I just started the Zone diet a week ago, combined with the Paleo concepts I've been living by for almost 2 years. While I've been eatting a wicked healthy and balanced daily menu, I've had days where I don't even hit 900 calories! I too crossfit a lot (like 5 times per week), run and play ball hockey. I don't…
  • Might want to take a look at WHAT you are eating and when.... If you are doing any weight training, consuming lots of lean protein will help you put muscle on, which will in turn help you shed fat. Also, should be eating every 3-4 hours to keep your metabolism reved up and drink LOTS of water  good luck!
  • these are awesome with oats, pb, water and protein powder too... any flavour ya like
  • thanks everyone  that's what I was hoping to hear... I always mix mine with water, and make it runny. It just seems crazy that my bowl is full and my girl's is barely half! Extra water has never been something I've considered a bad thing...
  • Thank you all for your support and suggestions! This is why I love MFP  so... here's an update. My goal is set for a weight loss target of .5 lbs per week in the food tracker and I stay within the recommendations 95% of the time. Some days when I do Insanity in the morning before work and run my tail off at hockey…
  • Yup!! I've lost 23ish pounds since Feb and have noticed a lot of the same too. Glad to know it's not just me  The hair growing back is NOT cool. As for the cold all the time... I find I'm warm more than I used to be?? Friends used to pick on me for being cold always but now I'm generally comfortable and it's my…
  • I ran 3.52 miles yesterday... GROUP TOTAL - 219.41
  • If you "quote" the above post but add your miles this might be easier? I want to play too please! I've run just over 5 miles so far in September  Doing the Run for the Cure on October 3rd so this will be good motivation and accountability! :flowerforyou: Kate
  • Great job everyone  I'm down 1lb today and setting my focus on maintaining current weight and getting ready for the 75km MS bike fundraiser on August 22. I live in Toronto, so getting on my bike regularly is not an easy (or safe!) task... hopefully all the running and other cardio exercise I HAVE been doing will…
  • Hi everyone  Time to start fresh with a whole new month ahead of us! I haven't posted in a few days cause I was in bed with the flu. BRUTAL. Didn't work out for a whole 3 days! (but didn't eat anything either, so I hope it won't kill me ) I did make my goal for July though! And then some with the last 2…
  • well... plyo IS the MOTHER OF ALL WORKOUTS  although I do believe you hear Tony say that more than once through p90x... Good for you for sticking it out though!
  • Yeah!! I'm down another 1/2 lb today! Only 1 more to reach my goal. Not sure how much more I have left to lose, but will aim for another 5lbs in august and continue to work to maintain. Please count me in for August too! Tattoodfreek Tiarapants Cnbethea Yentess ridelikeagirl616
  • It's different for everyone! Your best bet is to get a good heart rate monitor. I have to run at 5.5 mph for 45 minutes to burn 300 cal according to my hrm but the treadmill says 587 cal burned and MFP says something totally different! If you can get a fairly accurate reading for you personally you will have a better shot…
  • I started this journey NOT eating back any of my exercise calories and sticking to my base allowance and was losing weight, but very slowly. When I started working out with a personal trainer I continued to carry my plateau despite getting my butt KICKED twice weekly for the first month and a half. After bringing her my…
  • I've wondered this too! MFP already automatically creates a calorie deficit for you based on how much weight you want to lose and how quickly... is it self-sabotage to NOT eat back a portion of your fitness calories? Or are you better to just try to eat like you normally would? Or why don't they teach this stuff to kids in…
  • woo-hoo down 1lb more... Getting to the point where losing just one pound is super tough though. Sticking to the food tracking and clean eating... working out at a fairly high intensity 6 days per week... not sure I know a way to "step it up" even more. Maybe I just need to be patient  Way to go everyone…
  • sigh... I feel your pain with the *zero* weight loss. I burned 865 calories yesterday between training and ball hockey and still NOTHING. ah well... we will just keep at it, right?
  • well the weight loss seems to be more than a fluke, so I'm happy to say I'm down 2.5lbs now! (2.5 more to go!) I'm at 17.5lbs lost since Feb 2010 now  I started the year in a rut after months of working out by myself and thinking my diet was pretty good but not seeing any results. I tried p90x. I tried the Jillian…
  • fitness and calorie counting definitely need to go hand and hand to lose weight and be healthy but the daily calorie allowance isn't as simple as that too... still need to make sure there is a good balance of protein, healthy fats and complex carbs... your body will respond very differently to a "processed foods" 1400…
  • Glad to hear it was a good weekend! cnbethea - wow you're workin out like crazy! Are you doing p90x?? I know that "do your best" line all too well... not doing the full program currently, but do still squeeze in the ab ripper every 2-3 days. Tony Horton is crazy, but what a workout! potentially not eatting ENOUGH? that can…
  • poof! :ohwell: the weekend comes and everyone vanishes :glasses: Hope you all are having a great weekend and keeping on track... I work in retail, so it really means nothing to me! I'm down 1 lb today, but want to make sure it sticks before putting it in my weigh-in thingy...
  • Once you get used to it you might LOVE plyo... it's one of my favourites and what a wicked calorie torcher! Yoga was my nemesis for a long time, but I find I can deal with that now too. Just wish it wasn't so long! I put a dvd case in front of the on screen timer so I don't find myself looking at it every 2 minutes and…
  • Congratulations all you "losers" out there (meant in the nicest of ways, although it doesn't sound that way...) Keep it up! Even with a very physically intense last 7 days despite the ridiculous heat wave here, I seem to be somewhat stuck at my current weight. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful I haven't gained, just…
  • Thanks everyone for the ideas! I've determined my problem definitely lies around weight training days. My PT works me HARD (not that I would want anything else) and there was not enough protein in my diet to balance the butt kickings :noway: I've brought my protein intake up and it does seem to help... Having the whole can…
  • SO hot in toronto yesterday! 44 celcius with the humidity! I still managed to make my self go to the gym for a 3.5 mile run on the treadmill. Sweat like a PIG, but felt better after. What sort of workout routine is everyone using to help shed the pounds? Any great workouts you'd like to share? Kate
  • Down 1lb this morning. After an intense game of ball hockey last night in 37 degree (celsius) weather with the humidex and only one sub player I was hoping to be a bit lower, but c'est la vie  I figured I sweat out a gallon or two... Hope everyone else had a good weekend! :flowerforyou: Kate
  • Can I join too? 4 days in, but I haven't been slacking  My name's Kate from Toronto and I would love to lose 5lbs by July 31st! I've lost 15lbs since February and just need a push to get that last 5lbs to reach my goal. thanks!
  • I've been told high intensity cardio burns cellulite... If only I could run at a high intensity for hours I would! I've also heard that it's all about calories burned and doesn't matter how you get there. This should really be a subject they teach in high school!
  • Thanks for the ideas  I've never taken in to consideration WHICH days I seem to be particularly ravenous... might be post weight training days... Even wearing a heart rate monitor to determine calories burned during a weight session, I not sure how accurate that is? ex. yesterday my HRM read 265 calories burned…
